Clover really is invasive stuff, that's what makes is such a great lawn substitute for large fields, or for areas that geese will be feeding on, as like all plants it has it's place and purpose, but for a small area around low lying garden beds it's a disaster begging to happen. And pulling it up once it's that size won't be enough, as it will have dropped a lot of seeds and will keep coming back for a long time. You'll have to be very vigilant about pulling up the seedlings before they flower for the next few years to get rid of it for good.
