Keith moon said that I guess Jimmy Paige wanted to get a band together with Keith Moon, John entwhistle and Jeff beck and that was Keith’s response to it and jimmy took that and Reframed it as Led Zeppelin.. but those guys were in bands so jimmy found John Paul jones John Bonham Robert Plant
Not the car that you featured, but the Stutz Bearcat and the Mercer Raceabout looked very similar. They were the sports cars of their day. Stutz drivers would say: 'There's nothing worser than a Mercer'. And the Mercer drivers would say: 'Ya gotta be nuts to drive a Stutz". Great presentation, Jay. WYR: any of them, but mostly the Stanley, just to be weird.
Now that's a rare bird, Jay! I believe this car was the Runabout model - the Raceabout was the open two-seater with basically no doors and no body. Well done! Andy
Pricey little car! I get back in the day, only the richest could really afford cars, but dayum! 85K in today's dollars? WYR: 1) & 2) Actually, none of them blows my skirt up... but that's just my personal taste, nothing against the cars themselves...
For WYR, I’ll take the 1917 Peerless, and the Stanley Steamer…I have always found those cars intriguing ever since seeing one on Jay Leon’s channel. For some reason, the color of this car works well for it. It’s always interesting seeing a car before windshield wipers, door handles, and windows. But I wonder what that back trunk was, I expected a rumble/mother-in-law seat.
I'm just a sucker for touring cars. I would rather any of those makes in a beautiful open touring body, maybe a dual cowl, definitely with jump seats in the center. grandpa had a 29 ford phaeton, I've got a 1919 Buick H-49, and i'm looking at getting an early touring Model T or a Chevy of a similar vintage, perhaps both as I'd like to compare the two.
It looks as if the rims and spokes are still wooden? I can't recall when safety glass was first introduced as a common thing, but these old jalopies would break into shards in a crash, YOW. 1. Pullman, for the added space. 2. White, for the same reason.
1917 White, because sewing machines run as smooth as silk. ☀️ I like the old touring cars better, there was a certain grace and beauty around the gas and brass era... 🌅
6:44 Does it seem as if the Mercer right front wheel is pointing relatively straight ahead, and the Mercer left front wheel is turning to the left (as driven) ?
I learned more about Mercer in the last 14 minutes, than I had amassed in my life. Thank you. WYR: Mercer and Stanley Steamer - but it would be both to enjoy and experience the two. Thank you as always ~ Chuck
Sus programas de visitas a museos son de absoluta exelencia, primeros planos de detalles, etc. A mi parecer ,los coches de entre guerras eran los mas lindos.🎥👌🌷
I LOVE THIS VIDEO & ALL YOUR OTHER VIDEOS, YOUR CHANNEL IS SPECIAL, & EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE, I WILL BE PART OF ANY COMMUNITY THAT LOVES CARS & IS A CAR NOTT., Jay thanks for an amazing channel & for posting these incredible videos & enormous research, well done.
Hi Jay! Yet ANOTHER jewel from the Gilmore! LOVE that color! I bet that thing stood out in 1917 the same as it does today! Mercer and Stutz were competitors in the "sports car" market in the teens! Even though both makers placed pretty well in the race, neither won the Indy 500. Heck, Mercer even had Ralph DePalma drive one of theirs in the 500! Of course Stutz had Barney Oldfield in theirs for the Indianapolis race. WYR#1 MERCER! #2 Going STANLEY here! It would be cool to have at least ONE steam car!
Cool car J. It would be fun to see this running at Greenfield Village. I'd choose the 1917 Mercer and the 1917 Stanley Steamer. I have a soft spot for Stanley Steamers. They were made close to where I grew up. I'd see several every year in my town's 4th of July parade. I love the way they sound.
Much like this channel lol =) I said that as a joke I was thinking the other day I’ve never had a video go viral but I don’t want one either and here is why I like the rate this is growing slow and steady and has a great community aspect ( that I never want to lose ) in a lot of ways viral video seem to be like a kiss of death because after that channel either does really well or it dies another piece of information I don’t go after the algorithm…
That is a powerful car for 1917, but also extremely expensive! Not that speedometers of the type are called barrel speedometers, as the numbers are printed on a rotating barrel.
WYR Mercer WYR Mercer once again It is just amazing how many vehicles were built and have pretty well disappeared. Thanks Jay for resurrecting them for us all.
Jay, I know it has _NOTHING_ to do with you, but YT changed the layout of the pages, and I'm not fond of it. I _ENJOY_ reading the comments on most vids I watch. I also enjoy the recommendations, but to me, the comments should be "center stage." It seems the new layout is all about the recommendations, and the comment section is an "afterthought" in the narrow column (esp. on my laptop). My 2¢.
I agree if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I don’t understand why they keep making all these changes. I think it’s to compete with other platforms… There’s a lot of people that don’t like comments I could give you some insider information. If TH-cam considers a comment offensive it goes into a different category that may or may not be seen by the creator, which I totally don’t agree with anybody to see whatever they want on here, fun fact creators can silence anybody that they wish for any reason they want I don’t do that, but I have been silenced on a few channels A viewer of this channel reached out to me, and said that I should reach out to Zach from shooting cars to see if we could do a possible collaboration, and he’s never gotten back to me, but I commented on a couple of his videos in my comments were gone … so I guess he isn’t a fan but I tried I try to be as transparent as possible, and I’m willing to work with whoever because you never know that nobody might be huge tomorrow..
@@What.its.like. I try to always write comments that could not be considered offensive. And yet, I'd say 20% to 30% of my comments "disappear." As I said, I'm NOT one of those "flame throwers," even when I say something negative, I try to do it in a nice way.
Definitely I honestly don’t know why that is and I’ve been checking the flag folder but nothings ever there.. I’ve had people reach out to me previous and say hey why did you get rid of my comment I don’t get rid of anybody’s comments.. everyone has an open voice.
D'yer Mak'er, Led Zeppelin?
I’m impressed you got it =) there was a clue in the video
@@What.its.like. Thank you and I sure missed the clue. Means I'll have to pay more attention next time.

Keep up the good work, Jay. You're doing well with your channel.
Thank you it means a lot
WYR1: If I have to choose, I'd take a 1917 Pathfinder, descending to Packard, then Peerless, then Stutz and Mercer tied.
WYR2: Probably the Mercer.
Not the car that you featured, but the Stutz Bearcat and the Mercer Raceabout looked very similar. They were the sports cars of their day. They were very expensive in the day
"You have to be Nuts To drive a Stutz" and "the Mercer is worser" If I had big money, I would drive...Both!
A very cool car of the day! Thank you for featuring it. And I'd take it over the others, of course.
Now that's a rare bird, Jay! I believe this car was the Runabout model - the Raceabout was the open two-seater with basically no doors and no body. Well done!

Awesome insight =)
Hey, I have a bald pate, are they still a going concern?
BEAUTIFUL CAR!!!! , THE 1917 MERCER IS MY CHOICE.
Sweet choice =)

The White brand sewing machines are still manufactured today.

The wide angle camera lens does that.
Thanks again Jay. A fun way to learn about old and/or obscure automobiles. I love you too Jay.
Aww thank you =)

MARMON THOMAS NAPIER CHALMERS AND MERCER WERE TOP TIER RACING CARS OF THE TEENS
The Competitor For the Mercer Was Stutz Bearcat 2:20
All the choices were great
There is no bad choice.
Definitely made it harder. That’s for sure. These weren’t the original choices. The last section was going to be Packard and Pierce arrow

I have a scale model of a 1913 Mercer Runabout which was made by Schucco in the 1960's.
Awesome

Awesome information
Interesting car ! Lots of steel
The first car you show looks like a Stutz.
They look similar especially in the early years
There was the Stutz Bearcat.
WYR: All of them.
NTT: Space Marine Corp by DragonForce.
Runabout: Normal driving.
Raceabout: Race your friends.
Great choices not that song or band there is a clue as to what band it is in the video
@@What.its.like. I must've missed that. The drums clued me in to my guess.
😎🔥🥂
Question #2 #1,
in "would you rather" ,the age old rivalry was with stutz
That was a missed opportunity Great right in
Peerless Mercer
WYR Mercer
