It’s never too late to start up again! Bob Ross was actively painting until his arguably premature death at 52. I believe in you almost as much as you likely believe in your daughter.
I always find your sketchbooks inspiring! I struggle alot with letting a spread of pages become a composition though multiple, small sketches and the diffrent mediums at once. So watching your vids has been encouraging me to try more things in my sketchbooks .
I recently inherited a large box of miscellaneous art supplies when my mom's godmother passed. So many different paints, pens, things I had been wanting, thing i would have never considered. The Japanese fine point paint pens in the box has revolutionized my art, and I am much more active in my sketchbook these days. Love to hang out and watch your videos. I always learn a lot, and enjoy listening to a fellow artist and animal caretaker talk about their passions. ❤
I’m a broke self-taught artist so I don’t have much room to explore through different supplies, but my current favs are any mechanical pencil I shove Uni erasable blue nano dia lead into, classic Sakura micron pens, Deleter white and black ink, and my Kuretake Gansai watercolor 48 set :-) When it comes to specific brush, pencil, or sketchbook brands it doesn’t really matter to me as much currently beyond the type (Thank you for organizing the video by tool so I don’t have to scrub back through the video later btw!)
There was a time, for a LONG time, I couldn't get you to even consider color. I'm so happy that color has worked it's way into your good graces because you have always had a unique ability to see them and put them together to make color it's self...ART. Not everyone has that talent. ❤
Been drawing my whole life for fun, but have just decided to start taking it a little more seriously. This video helped out so much. Ive been focusing a lot on felt tip pen sketching.
This video is genuinely an answer to my prayers lol. I have been looking for videos about art supplies and Japanese art supplies specifically but couldn’t find anything that had substance. Our ways of looking for art supplies and what we like are almost identical and I’m happy you talked about the difference between how artists typically find things through trial & error. So now I’m excited to buy some new pens that I’m 99% sure I’ll love thanks to your video! Really great video. 👏🏼
I typically use a bunch of dollar store stuff. As I got older I invested more in name brand supplies. But, since I grew up poor, I was kinda forced into mixed media. My art supplies just become a means to an end. But I want to have more colorful sketchbooks and more fun while doing small doodles! Watching you draw always inspires me to keep trying that. Thank you for making videos :)
I'm the same but with crochet. Always have way too much yarn and yarn I might not even use but it looks nice, same with looads of crochet hooks in different materials and shapes.
I do a lot of digital art, but your videos and style have inspired me to do more traditional art. I love these full spread styles you do, and now I’m just looking for a sketchbook that’s portable
I agree that its so important to just try out supplies yourself to see what "clicks". For example, I bought a cheap pack of HB pencils from DAISO to try out for sketching and they're unironically some of the nicest pencils I've used. I prefer them over my mechanical pencils too! xD And if you do a lot of lineart and watercolouring, I've found copic fineliners are really good and do not go all fuzzy if you accidentally overload your brush with too much water or you need to layer a lot of pigment on a piece.
I love collecting and using colored mechanical pencil lead. My favorite is from Pilot eno but I also enjoy using pentel blue lead, Uni emmott which I found on jetpens website and Mitsubishi and Staedtler 2mm colored pencil lead.
Whilst listening, I decided to look around at my own pens. I doodle with pens basically primarily at this point in time, so I was really keen on learning some new fun tools. When playing around with them, I did notice the ones indicating they were made in Japan are seriously freaky better. I have this blue uniball AIR I think I may have stolen from someone, and it's like drawing with silky butter, but not to the point of being uncontrollable. There was this black one I have that's dying, and unfortunately it's been loved so much the label is nearly gone x). All I know was it was all Japanese writing, and it was almost like a permanent marker feel, but ballpoint pen style. Very fun, but this one was never very reliable in the amount of ink it kicked out. I must have obtained it when it was near the end of it's life. Anyways, it was fun to rant amongst the other nerds around here about art supplies! I will definitely be looking into those zebra ones. Pen is AWESOME!!!!! MISTAKES??? NO, JUST A SKETCHY STYLE. MESSED UP? IT'S SHADING NOW. It's lit
I love watching your art videos because I start to get the itch to do it again.. I'm not quite there, but it's coming. I burned myself out on it years ago and now I have just old paint I have let go to shit.. I have been eyeing my sketch book, I also love those tombow brush markers.. I still have some. thanks for the vids
I’m seeming a little lost in what I want to do but I know I love art I want to get into it more..I was wondering if you could do a video on if you got a degree in art and yada yada, i would love to hear you yap for a little guidance 🙂↕️
I’m going to have to buy some of the Zig Clean Color Real Brush singles or a set for my son. He has been looking for something like that for the last 8 years. I don’t think I have ever used a Zig pen or marker that I hated. Thanks for this video because I rarely go browsing for art supplies these days. It was like window shopping without the agoraphobia. 😅
4:02 omg I've been drawing with this pen since I was like 13 its just perfect and they are EVERYWHERE here I mean you can even find them at grocery stores
only compaint i have for the tombow watercolor markers is that they pill up on many types of paper if youre not careful enough 😭 oh and the smudging sometimes but other than that theyre beautiful
my friend once gave me a tombow fudenosuke soft twin tip brush pen as a gift, it's grey on one side and black on the other I really liked the line control, it dried super fast and it didn't bleed from alcohol markers at all I used that thing until the very last drop of ink and a little bit after that I really liked it, but it's like impossible to buy where I live(
I like to use the bic felt tip markers, the colors are nice and they last a bit. I'm saving up to try and get some alcohol based markers? (i just heard of them so i wanna see how it goes). Sharpie felt pens are amazing i think too. I totally agree with the mechanical pencil, i use the plastic ones but the metal ones gives me more control i think, it feels better in the hand.
Are you okay? Like I understand acne and bags under the eyes(that's kinda your look (no shade)) but you look sick.... Like death sick..... Hope All is well
Going from hunters video to this was the most intense emotional whiplash ever 😭
Shot > Chaser

@Bella-kk4go her and hunter are real ones nick cracks me up to but yeah I wish we could get daily uploads lmao 🤣 😅 they're my favorite
The cozy queen has uploaded yet again
I've given up on art about 15 years ago. $$ mindset I had was so bad. My daughter is now discovering art and I'm ready to prepare her and support her.

I've found so much joy in creating art with prismacolor colored pencils! I love the waxy texture and the blendablitiy

Definitely love the Tombow brush pens, I like that I have more control over them
A pupper topping off a beer glass is such a wholesome image I didn't know I needed.

Been drawing my whole life for fun, but have just decided to start taking it a little more seriously. This video helped out so much. Ive been focusing a lot on felt tip pen sketching.
The picking a brand and learning how to use it really hit for me
How much I look forward to your videos is truly outstanding
This is my favorite comfort channel, thanks Allison :)
no idea why but the pilot g2 pens scratch my brain for both sketching and writing. mmfmgh
I absolutely love seeing what artists use. This was a really awesome video. I really love how you gave examples of why you enjoy this supplies 😊

Your videos bring me so much peace, love the content!!!

Rocky!! 😻😍😭 such a cutie!!
I’ve had the same mechanical pencil since high school freshman year and it’s so special to me.
Prisma colored pencils have been a big game changer. blending and layering colors became so easy.
Prisma color pencils were so important for my understanding of layering color. I've switched to oil painting but prisma colors made art a lot of fun.
er me gerd your hair is so cutie pulled backkkk!! I also love your art style, its so smooth and so cool to watch the process.
I do a lot of digital art, but your videos and style have inspired me to do more traditional art. I love these full spread styles you do, and now I’m just looking for a sketchbook that’s portable

Your and Hunter should have Drawing competition for one of your videos, or you should redraw some of your old deviant art drawings 😂

have you considered making a bluesky?
Yes! I’m on blue sky as @ alpolston
My concern with trying too many new art supplies is waste. I do like researching a bit just to avoid throwing something away completely.
We need more vids
