Same here, I have been doing showers for over 18 years. And every time I had to repair a shower that has not been done correctly I found the same mistakes over and over again, for example :holes in the liner done by either nails or screws on the inside of the shower and top of the curb, and membrane is too short on the wall, among some of the mistakes that I have seen in this video. In my opinion I think professionalism Excellency is a must.

This is amazing, I could not stop watching. Every single step was done incorrectly. But the installer was so precise and seemed to know what he was doing, well kind of. Here is my theory everyone. This is NOT a typical water in water out shower pan build. Notice that the drain weep holes were completely covered and that the concrete was not the usual drypack. My guess, or at least what I hope he was doing here, is that it is just the frame. There will be multiple layers of liquid membrane over it. Functionally, it should act like a tileable prebuilt shower pan. Water is not intended to go past the concrete at any point. The misleading part is that he added the PVC pan liner for some crazy reason. IF the water does go down at all past the liquid membrane, which I hope will be added, you might as well go beneath the pan to take the shower. Best of luck to the poor soul that owns this home.
Hey bud, when you attach your shower pan no screws below 12" on in side of shower walls if you fold the pan correctly over curb no cutting of the pan is required on or around curb besides excess on outside of curb only screws to be put in pan are on the outside of curb screwing into pressure treated 2×4 and should only be 2-2×4s high your backing board on inside of curb should be healed in place with your mud shower floor then you attach your backing board on outside with screws and mud the middle of curb locking inside of curb backing board to outside this is the proper way I dont mean any disrespect but I am correct and a pan that has not been cut or screwed on top or inside of curb and folded properly was a whole lot better then one that is....just saying

He had my attention until he started stapling the liner to the curb. Then I started losing as he was cutting the liner corners instead of doing hospital folds and trying to use the PVC cement to bond the PVC liner to the wood frame. This is not to mention screwing the HardieBacker through the liner on the curb. At that point what is even the purpose of the liner, you've screwed through it in so many places. Water will always find a way and I give that shower pan 5 years tops, I'd be surprised if it goes all the way before leaking through the ceiling.
No it will not last 15 years and that's BS for you to pretty much say it's the next guys problem... freaking DYI's or so called "handyman" that thinks he can do these jobs.
Daniel Franklin the argument is not whether I would hire him !!!! Read comments above !!!!! He cut, the corners of the pan liner and then glued them ( one way of doing it ) the other way which I’m assuming is the preferred way of the gentleman above ( bend then into triangle). You may not agree with the method he used to construct the shower simply because it’s not your preferred way ,or the way you might have been taught therefore you opinion is biased Now whether or not I decide to hire him? That is for me to decide and does not concern you .
@@stevec1379 So, you didn't do what I said, at all. You read it once or twice and responded with drivel. 1) It's a built in joke. "Cutting corners" is a term used for doing things the easiest/fastest/cheapest way, often omitting a really important step. 2) Cutting corners is something that professionally should only be done when required, as in tiling and reaching an end, or installing tile diagonally. 3) This isn't a Reese's. There ARE wrong ways of doing it. This *IS* the wrong way to do this. My "preferred way" as you put it *IS* the CORRECT WAY. He is openly inviting a leak. I know that might not make sense to you, but that's the whole point you are missing. 4) My opinion is that you shouldn't be doing things that are opening inviting failure. A building inspector's opinion is the same thing. That's why we have things like building codes. We learn things over the years and decades and we change the codes based on failures that routinely happen. This is one of those. A building inspector would not be happy with this guy's work. 5) Who you hire IS your business. This is the only thing you got right in your response to me. However, seeing that you have no problem, given your defense of him, hiring people who cut corners on important jobs, I wouldn't buy anything you're selling, be it a house you're remodeling or services you offer.
Daniel Franklin. I m indifferent to your opinion and the evolution of the building code !!!! THIS IS NOT THE ARGUMENT !! There are things that I don’t agree with the video also but I’m not going to discredit his entire job !!! My original comment was a question directed to someone else Not to you . But since your way IS the correct way and you decided to spill your knowledge .let me ask you. Have you ever heard of pvc liner glue ? And what it’s used for.?Have you ever heard of epoxy grout.? Have you ever heard of red guard waterproof rolling membrane? ( it’s also certified as an steam resistant) did you see that he didn’t do a dry pack ? My final question to you is ,If water penetrates through the porcelain tile, epoxy grout, red guard (2or three coats) and the liner catches the water ( let’s assume its installed by the book) is the job a success or a failure?
this is Hack Artistry. This is normal construction and I ripped one out like this and the sill rotted and floor needed repaired. the house was 35 years old. It was floated cement walls with wire mesh though. I bet it will last 30 years. I think that's the same guy who did it.
Fix it All Construction adhesive is not a sealer, it hardens and won't move. Just because your shower visually doesn't leak it doesn't mean it's done right. I hope you didn't do a lot of this! I wonder how it would pass inspection.

You'll be surprised, but this method shower pan stay more than 15 years.
@@FixitAll why not do it right and make it last longer then the house?
@@derekhindman8442 this shower will stay more than 20 years. So till next renovation its more than enough.
No it will not last 15 years and that's BS for you to pretty much say it's the next guys problem... freaking DYI's or so called "handyman" that thinks he can do these jobs.
@@deman817 I says what i do and no problem at all.

Who cut corners, just bend them in
Triangle ,worst job I ever see
Peter 210 so you judge his entire job because he cut the corners of the liner?
@@stevec1379 Read your comment back to yourself over and over until it clicks... You would hire a guy who cuts corners??
Daniel Franklin the argument is not whether I would hire him !!!! Read comments above !!!!! He cut, the corners of the pan liner and then glued them ( one way of doing it ) the other way which I’m assuming is the preferred way of the gentleman above ( bend then into triangle).
You may not agree with the method he used to construct the shower simply because it’s not your preferred way ,or the way you might have been taught therefore you opinion is biased
Now whether or not I decide to hire him?
You good brother god bless you 👍👍♥️💪♥️👍👍👌🏾
quieres o no quieres, el agua va llegar a la madera. y todo el trabajo que en balde
Cuanto tiempo para ke pase eso?
this is Hack Artistry.

Is nice to watch, but that's all. You can use this way only if you have it in ground floor, haha.
I love all your music
Nice to hear that 😀
Cement goes in first! sloped, then membrane, then cement again...
And why not just draw the one inch line instead of drilling into the vinyl??

You should never ever, ever, ever, ever, cut your pan! Im done watching after that. Hurry up and cash your check befor they notice the leaks. Lol.

Customer knows (I hope) that tile work shouldn't be started before shower leak test made by the plumber.
Before tileman start tile job he should get permission from inspector. I guess it's too much to ask for.

Concrete first , then the hardybacker .
Doesn't mater since it never get vet.
Concrete kept hardy wall from moving and prevent cracks.
Dont use hardi at all in mudpan
Will weep up water
Only durock or wonderboard
Exactly! NEVER run your wall board/ Hardi board into the pan. Always pour the pan first, then install the wall boards above the pan, leaving a 1/2 gap! If... ahem, WHEN water gets into that pan, it will soak into the wall board and wick up into the wall.
Looks so easy.....
