Budget Turkey Burger And Jalepeno Gravy - Budget Cooking Doesn't Mean Bland Cooking

- One of my mother's go-to budget recipes was hamburger gravy. At our house this was a crowd pleaser, whether served over bread (SOS style) or mashed potatoes, we all loved it.
I'm using odds and ends from my fridge and freezer to bulk this dish up. I'm also using ground turkey, as the cost is almost half that of ground beef.
A Pioneer Jalapeno Gravy Packet punches up this lean meat. Budget cooking does not have to be bland or boring.
This made 6 servings. We are a family of 3, so I also made 3 TV dinners to freeze.
*This was so good Andrew did not know it was ground turkey*

Hi Shortie, is your real name, Sally? That was a touching story about going to pick up the food at the stores, left outside. It’s a crying shame the grocery store food waste in this world. It’s worse now than ever due to the high prices. It would sicken me to have to be a produce stock person. Or any department, actually. We have a fantastic food pantry in our town, located between 2 larger stores and they turn no one away. I mean the food is outstanding. Hi Carri, my birth name is Tanja sounds like Tania. My dad always joked around about Sally get your purse. Mostly because with 8 daughters neither mom or dad could keep our names straight. Sometimes they would have to go through the whole list until they got to your name.
I agree turkey and gravy would make an excellent pot pie. Yum! My crust is lousy and my biscuits are hockey pucks.
I am getting a Produce On Wheels Without Waste order next week as my grocery haul. This is a group dedicated to rescuing foods from landfills. You pay a small share $15-$25 for up to 75lbs of produce and groceries. It will be in my area next Saturday and they have a delivery option. I can't wait to see what I get.

Good morning, Shortie! I have a package of ground turkey in the freezer. Casey bought it, and neither of us really knows what to do with it. I buy bags of frozen peas and carrots for my dogs. They love any kind of veggies on top of their dog food. 😊

I have had that very gravy packet in my cupboard for probably 2 yrs. I probably need to get it used up soon! I don't buy ground turkey even though I've seen very good sales. I used it in the past but never acquired a taste. I think it's more a texture thing for me.🤔

The gravy packet is not too spicy. I know you can take a little heat. I think the slow simmer improved the texture quite a bit, its different because it's so lean. Beef would be great too. 😉
