PM Trudeau on escalating conflict in Lebanon, international student visas - September 24, 2024

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks with reporters in New York City, where he is attending the
79th United Nations General Assembly. The prime minister reacts to the ongoing violence in Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah and calls for a de-escalation of of the conflict and the need to protect innocent civilians. The prime minister faces questions on the impact a re-elected Donald Trump might have on U.S. military support for Ukraine. Trudeau also discusses the Bloc Québécois’ demands to boost benefits for seniors in exchange for supporting the Liberal government. He also comments on concerns surrounding the increase in international students claiming asylum in order to stay in the country.
