such an underrated car
I just picked up a 2008 Titanium for just under £2k, FSH and near-perfect bodywork. What a deal! I've never been so impressed so quickly, it's surprisingly fast and great fun to drive (even if it is still an auto box). I never knew diesels could be so rewarding to drive, and I've quickly come to prefer the sound of diesel over petrol, it's got a reassuringly solid "thump" to it.
Great cars. A real high-point for Ford. That 2.0 diesel with I think Peugeot HDI origins just suites the car so well. Its relatively quiet and strong in all gears. My friend used to have one just like this in top spec Titanium X. I couldn't believe I felt so enthusiastic and excited by a Mondeo! 🤣 They are driver's cars and built better than a 3 Series, C Class of the time. Great vid. Would still own one now. The Mondeo after this was awful.
I remember my grandad had one of these, but it was a Silver estate. I remember we used to go out in it as a family sometimes, that was quite cool. When we were out once, me and my grandma counted it had 23 dents/scratches on, it was definitely too big for him! 😂

Had no respect for Mondeo's until my son picked up a 2008 Titanium X, The amount of kit you get ie fully loaded in comparison to say an Audi even now is amazing. Smooth drive and extremely quiet. Full respects now. But only for the mk4 versions and up.

Really good to drive, typical ford ride and handling. The 2.0 TDCI is no rocketship but there’s plenty of mid-range pull in 3rd and 4th for safe overtakes. Quiet and refined on the motorway. Loads and loads of space in the boot and the cabin. They are dirt cheap now. Go for the Titanium X if possible. Don’t be put off by the mileage as long as it has been serviced to schedule. Apart from the usual on any car (clutch, turbo, injectors, etc.), things that can cause an issue on these are the rear trailing arm bushes, front strut top mounts and issues with the filter in the power steering reservoir becoming blocked. All of these things are relatively easy and cheap to fix. I hope this gives you bit more info.

No, I think the noise is exaggerated by the microphone, it's actually a fairly quiet car on the move.
Do a Vauxhall Astra or Kia Rio
I just picked up a 2008 Titanium version this week. Very happy with it.
