I'm looking to take my dad out in a couple weekends to do some wading. Would you recommend the Harpeth or Piney this time of year? I know the Harpeth has lots of entry points, but I don't know much about the Piney.
Sounds fun! It’s tough to get to wading points on the piney. If you have kayaks or need to rent, try contacting Pinewood Canoe and Camp and they’ll shuttle you. Otherwise, you have to make do with bridge areas that are high pressure points. There are many more opportunities to wade fish the Harpeth at the state park, but Sunshine Adventures is a local family that will rent good crescent kayaks, and they are EXTREMELY river conscious, picking up after others and they’re all about safety. So I’d recommend them if you need to rent or shuttle.
