While I'm a sucker for cool smart home tech, there is no way I'm paying $350 and up for a switch. I already have multiple ways of doing just about anything in my smart home. If I really wanted a wall mounted solution I would mount an amazon fire tablet. There are some nice solutions for wiring and mounting available.
My question to Brett is: Would you pay out of pocket what they are asking?

This is a brilliant video . This is such a detail video & no one has posted such detail video about this product . I needed information before I spend expensive money on it . Im a journeyman electrician by trade and im always looking for products that can bring my customers into the future so to speak. These "switches" are quite impressive being multiple things in one product. The ability to join different products to it outside of their brand is a huge bonus as well. I will say price is high and would be quite a hard sell to anyone, including myself. especially given that to use alot of the features you will need some other smart switches, camera's or such. Interested to know if its CSA approved for electrical approval? I think if they can get the price down and/or offer a starter pack with some extra cheaper switches for other rooms along with this main switch it would take off big time. At this time imo its directly in competition with a cheaper Wink option (its not as nice by any means but most people wont jump this deep in their pockets to start with smart homes). I could see this pushing wattstopper out of the residential market for richer folks but thats like 1% of the work I do. Key is price going down with this quality and it would be a easy addon to any middle class family I do work for.

I really enjoyed this demo. But I have to ask... why not just use the mobile app to control your smart switches, outlets, lights, locks, cameras, etc? Do you find it convenient to use Brilliant to control nodes in other rooms versus using your smartphone? I have Smartthings, Ring, Rachio, Harmony, Hue, TP-Link, Schlage, MyQ, Ecobee, and Alexa...all controlled via voice or app. I don't see myself, or family members, going to Brilliant to control specific nodes when we can do it from our phones or voice. The thing that brilliant is doing wrong here is marketing this as a switch. They should be marketing this as a Home Control panel, as that is what it does and that is what most people will buy it for. There is not a decent plug and play panel on the market outside of your "Alarm" panels. Make this a slightly larger screen with a non switch option and this will fly off the shelves for 399
