Back in the days of my youth, Lands End was just one small single story building which was the tourist centre, a sign post of distances to places far and near and a car park. Now it looks like a whole moneytcatches paradise has risen up. By the way I’m eighty-five

Well, I think this video has shocked more than any of the others. The last time I was at lands end was probably back in 74/75 and there was nothing there but the sign post and the First and Last pub, and having a pee meant you took your life in your hands by either being blown into the sea or having it blown back in your face,(we were young and things worked a lot better back then🤣). Just can't believe it all.....a hotel!!.....well well well....(shakes head, tut's a lot, and walks away)

My goodness. This is heaven on earth. We used to come here every summer at least twice if not more and never got tired of it.
It has been many years, 22, to be exact since we were there and it looks totally different. I remember it was just a kind of dirt path all the way to the hotel and the surrounding areas. They didn't have that village with all the shops and the other facilities.
The car park was a huge dirt patch that you parked for free. It's changed so much and it has lost it's untouched original look.
Why do they have to destroy these places with stupid things like a doughnut hut, clothing shop or crap like that? People can buy their frigging clothes in Penzance!! At least the hotel is still there. We have had quite a few excellent meals in there.

I Absolutely agree, this area was rugged and most beautiful many years ago and should have been adopted by the national trust it didn't need any money grabbing business person especially by the Americans to turn it into a razzamata venue. Knock it all down I say and let English nature depict it's outcome. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I say and definitely not the money grabbing Americans or any other get rich quick entrepreneur.I have spent many a happy hour in the first and last house which in the early days was a pub.'cheers' to one and all !!

Visited here on a summers day and it was mobbed. Couldnt believe the narrow road into it, I had to negotiate several buses coming towards me on the drive in 😂 I've been to John O'Groats as well, it is a lot less commercialised but just as wild and windy 😂

I drove down there from Northumberland many years ago. I enjoyed the drive, but I was disappointed you had to pay to go to the actual Lands End, and must admit I refused to do so. That was back in the 90's, and there's certainly been some changes since I was last there. Lord knows what the prices are now, but maybe I might return. I love Cornwall.

Great video as always…just thought I’d mention the Lands End sign you showed to us was a simple temporary one. It’s normally on the white post you walked past near to the sign you showed us. they family who own it must take it down during the low season and when the winds are at their most fierce in Winter! The real one visitors can slide in their hometown and mileage from Lands End for their personal pictures.

Its been over 50 years since I went to Lands End, it was lovely to see it again even though its changed. You take us to all these places we could go ourselves and still not spend, its the people of today that have to buying stuff all the time, that's where your money goes, take a flask of tea or coffee and half the job is done.

I visited Lands End on 22nd of December 2023,
after doing the Winter Solstice at Stonehenge,
I got there at about 11 o'clock at night,
JEEZE, it was incredibly windy and so dark,
even with a powerful torch, I could just about see the sea,
it was raging too, NICE ONE.
    I have to mention, that,
there is a reliable Gridserve fast Electric Vehicle charging point at Lands End,
the next decent one north on the A30
is at Strawberry Fields farm shop just past Launceston,
that's about 70 miles from Lands End.

Lovely to see Land's End again. I was there fifty odd years ago when you couldn't even buy a tea towel! We went walking and didn't need signs to warn us that cliffs are dangerous we kind of figured it out for ourselves.I feel so sorry that the natural beauty of our landscape is high jacked by money making rubbish. Ten pounds to take a photograph of the famous sign? Dear God.

Must be thirty years since I last went to Lands End, doesn't seem to have changed at all, even the shops and attractions look similar I remember there was one attraction with some sea monster which looks now to be the Wallace and Grommet attraction. I have a video probably made in 1988/89 when my children were quite small. I did wonder why a private family would own the Lands End sign then all was clear with the £10 charge for a bloody photo. Everyone cashing in in this world. My feeling is, it's a place to visit once, but it's so far away from anything else worth visiting in Cornwall, I wouldn't rush back maybe once every 35 years is about right. Makes you wonder what will replace Wallace and Grommet in the future. To answer the question about the moaners, you need to bear in mind, that most people who visit lands End probably have children and they are generally not interested in the view, lovely though it is and it's not a cheap day out if you have a handful of kids, wanting to see the promotions, have an icecream and probably lunch. I was left feeling last time that they could have done more with the space they have, but clearly it's doing the business, if not in January. I would guess though that considering how many people go to Cornwall year after year for their holidays, few probably go back to Lands End very often.

Lands End is the most westerly point of mainland England, but Ardnamurchan point in Scotland is the most westerly in the UK. I like it more there than Cornwall.
