I already have my Jupiter-X and I´m super excited for the Fantom. I wonder how they stack up together?

All this petter patter and fun is intriguing, but at 70 years I'm gonna die before I learn something. There's so much that needs to be explained about every section of those keyboards

Can the Jupiter X run 16 parts w/ General Midi?

I have a Jupiter 80 and really like what I see with Jupiter X. Is it possible to midi the X with the 80 and have the X's sliders control parameter s (filter, envelopes, etc) on the 80? I love the sounds on the 80 but not yet convinced that the X offers substantially more. Thanks in advance.

Hi Samuel, yes this is possible. You can map the Sliders (SL1, SL2) and the buttons (S1, S2 and S3) to any CC number. As far as the other sliders and knobs on board, from looking at the midi implementation charts for both the JP-80 and JP-X, a lot of parameter numbers line up and should work.

Stick with your 80 mate. 👍🏻🎶

The 80 is so underrated. I have one as well. It is an amazing instrument. And I have to say I think the SUPERNATURAL engine sounds way better in the 80 than it does on the Fantom. However the differences are very slight, but I can tell.

Hi Ed and Scott, i enjoyed my first time on the live show last night, but i didn't feel that you managed to answer my questions.
The main question was about editing groups. Scott, it sounds like you have managed some complex patterns into a song (via groups obv) so you must understand my frustration at not having any facilities to edit groups. The only way to audition the chain of groups is by making a song. And then there is no easy way to change the patterns in the groups. You have to keep going back and forth from patterns to song mode and re initialising the groups each time.
We need a group edit page with the groups 1 to 16 assigned to the pads and the main screen displaying the patterns screen with the ability to change the patterns (the patterns playing are the patterns in the group) and then save the group after having changed the component patterns.
I appreciate that in the live scenario it was maybe a little bit of a complex problem.... atb. Christian

What is really frustrating is I want both keyboards. The Jupiter X has all the classic sounds of yesteryear Roland keyboards plus new expanded capabilities. I love it. However I also love the Fantom with its more modern strings, pads, pianos, organs, elec piano and everything that is included plus the kitchen sink

I played a Jupiter X yesterday and have to admit it is beefy

And there is no way to audition a song except from the beginning every time. The only way to try different arrangements is to lay out the patterns as horizontal groups on the pattern page and switch them via the row numbers which is almost impossible with a screen full of patterns!

Hi Christian, once you have your grouping figured out and start placing them in a song, you can use the "Skip" button at the bottom of the screen in Song Mode. This will Skip groups so that you don't have to play the entire song each time but just the section you want to check.

    • @christianthompson1473

Thanks Scott, i had overlooked the skip feature in the context of editing.... nevertheless my suggestion for a groups edit feature still stands! Could you forward the idea please?

@@christianthompson1473 You can select any Pattern for a Group and they don't have to be in a row. To mute a Pattern Hold the Pattern block on the screen or via the Pad then make a Group out of the Patterns that you want to play. This can be even one Pattern like for an intro.

@@scottberry6669 thanks Scott i do understand that. But going back to change those patterns after creating a group is the problem i am talking about. There's no way of getting the groups patterns back again in pattern mode. If group audition reset the patterns in pattern mode that would be a start. Ive had a (4) fantom 6's since October. I know it inside out.
