Thank you so much for taking time to make this useful video. It was a bit scary in the beginning but your circuit drawing really made me actually understand the connection. I connected my humidifier after seeing u do it. You saved me probably tons of $$$$$. Thank you so much and keep it up. 🙏

Thanks. I have a Lenox HVAC with humidifier. On the old thermostat, there’s a D wire for the humidifier. Can I just put that into the star on the Nest - and should that be enough for the humidifier to work now?

Yes, you can put that wire in '*' but make sure the 'D' wire is diretly connected with humidifier and 2nd wire coming from your humidifier should be connected to +24v if you have +24 humidifier motor

Do you know how it connects with Ecobee?

Hi. Thanks for the great video. Can you please explain what was the purpose you modified and added the connection from motherboard C to C port in Nest. I am just learning myself, but other sources tells us, running common cable from motherboard C port to R in humidifier and then a cable from * port in humidifier to * port in Nest will work. What is the benefit or target of your modification?

Common wire 'C' connected from motherboard to the Nest 'C' port because nest thermostat controller run on +24 volt and it needs power if internal battery is low. Sometime people use the 'G' wire as common 'C' by switching the wire in motherboard from 'G' to 'C" and then connect that same 'G' wire to 'C' port in nest to give power to nest system if someone does not extra wire. In my case two wires were extra other then Fan wire 'G' so i used one wire 'C' to power up the nest and humidifier and other wire to turn on and off the humidifier and '*' in the nest.
