I love how Gale makes sure we know the names of the guys putting the time in. Saying "Hey, my name is on it but an army of guys made it happen," is pure class. Great job, Matt.
That is a beautiful blower for that engine, as the others have said I can't wait to see it all assembled and running to hear it. As for painting that thing, I also like the pure look of it, or maybe you could just paint the tops of the ribs and the banks name and leave the rest shiny. Keep up the good work, I will be waiting for the next set of videos
This is my favorite channel on TH-cam. Seeing the drive, passion, and motivation the entire Banks crew shares is truly inspiring. For all the younger viewers out there, let Gale Banks be a role model. He is a true example of an American who has pursued his dream, perfected his craft, and inspired like-minded individuals to join him along the way. The grin on Gale's face talking about all of the little details, still as excited as a young boy, should be motivation for any entrepreneur out their to pursue their dreams and passions. Thank you for sharing all that you do, I'll be anticipating your next video 🙂
Mr Banks l just ❤ ur infectious child like enthusiasm & also the fact that ur acknowledged ur buddies imput & also Whipples imput in2 ur new blower. Xcellent. The only thing thats missing from Banks these days is an awesome marine supercharged or twin turbo set up or both. 4me that would be like revisiting 40-50 yrs ago. U r a Gem . Thx
That is one awesome looking blower....Can we see more on the dash that you flashed at the beginning of the segment. I really like the 4 iDash setup.....
So what do you use chemically to cool the intake air mixture on a diesel? I would imagine that methanol wouldn't be good inside of a diesel but nitrous or propane would probably work well am I wrong? Or am I just completely wrong in my understanding of the mechanics of making power on a diesel?
I can not even imagine the intimidation factor involved with working with a great mind like Gale! He has probably forgotten more than ill ever know. This truck is freaking sexy, can't wait to see it finished!
Intimidation factor? What are you talking about? Do you really find it intimidating to work with people who are good at what they do? I'm genuinely curious.
Hey guys I love the work done here. I don’t know if it’s been covered already but are there any serious plans for bigger gains on the middle max?? Please respond!
Sitting here next to my wife as you were unboxing the supercharger. My wife looked over at me and saw the grin on my face and she had to inquire what I was watching. I guess she must have thought that I was looking at photos of scantily clad young women.
That is some serious supercharger but my main concern the the front bearing, sealed on both sides of coarse but not really serviceable plus even cut from a billet but very thin. If the bearing gets hot, starting to fail, it can lockup and twist out or spin and destroy the support. I can't seeing it lasting 5,000 hrs. DK, ASE master tech since 78.
Holly molly, that thing is eye candy for car people. For us machinists and engineers it's in it's own level of engineering porn! And the word Banks on top of it, you know it's real and not just fantasy. Awesome job guys and girls, just truly awesome!
I would love to know as Bonneville legend if a supercharger such as a Whipple would be better for a high RPM motor vs Turbo as it should provide power across the power curve without surge and the ability to make a cleaner bay for other items. Also would you ever use interchiller aka a ac compressor derived cooling like the SRT Demon and our fellow gear heads in Australia use seeing frost on the condenser proving it does lower IAT. Building my dream car and I'm wanting something for standing mile and 1/2 mile so legs is what the motor will have rather than arm breaking line power. My aim is high rev modern billet hemi with destroke and or flatplane with matching internals to achieve high wind with consistent power across the all rpm's and feel turbo shutter or burst only hurts consistency in the short course of this type of racing.
Stop and think about this. This is a gearhead, sitting with the OWNER OF THE COMPANY, who is an absolute gear head and been doing this for 50 years, geeking out on performance parts. SIGN ME UP!!!!
I play with little 2 stroke motors and little small block V8s. So I know how a diesel works. But that's about it. I know nothing else. So question. Is it possible to build a high performance diesel that will run like hell without it blowing smoke like a dumpster fire? Or is that a monumental feat that's damn near impossible?
How come banks isnt talking about the RPM act which prevents the performance mods on any vehicle with a VIN. RPM Act @Banks Power , you need to support it

That's the kinda guy Gale is. The guys over at Whipple are making this Supercharger piece look amazing.
@@bankspower Yes fellas. He really is the cream of crop. Military hires him a lot. Matter of fact I would like to keep him "Homeland".
I think all those involved in making this Chevrolet a reality should have a plaque embossed in the Dash or Glove Box.
@@bankspower iiiiiiiiii
@@bankspower I remember speaking to Dustin @ Whipple when it was being made. He was quite stoked about the project.
Gale is that cool grandpa or uncle that everyone wishes they had
That is by far the best looking supercharger I have ever seen. Gale I would honestly work for you for free.
It would honestly be worth it for the knowledge. They're always on the cutting edge of what you can do with a diesel.
Gale, you're not allowed to retire or die on us! We'll always love and respect you and your legacy.
Just discovering this channel and I’m absolutely sold to this great team. Gale is the Master Teacher we all deserve. Subscribed already!
Welcome aboard!
Loving this series. Can not wait to see it all done.
Can't wait, but on the other hand don't want to see it finished, loving this build series
That is a piece of art. I can’t wait to see it in action.

People with a passion for work, build with passion. That is so evident with all the people involved with Lock Jaw…
I'm glad to see a company actually to package things nicely for shipping. I like to see things over packed than under packed

Gale Banks is truly a genius and innovator in the diesel world. Keep up the great work BANKS POWER.
That looks fantastic a pure piece of engineering given form. Well done whipple well done 👏
Love the craftsmanship and the knowledge that goes into creating this work of art.
Awesome, looks like a person's torso minus the head and arms. Absolutely art in motion 🤘
A bit of morbid description, but we'll take it!
3.8L is the size of most V6 engines today, imagine *JUST* your supercharged being that haha. You guys rock!
I have a car with a 1.8 and a car with a 2.0. Do the math 😂😂😂😂

This thing is going to be off the chart
Not just off the chart, but broke the chart.
This was an AWESOME thing to see, guys! You should get it clear Cerakoted like the guys mentioned in the last video.
Banks is awesome. I gotta catch up on previous and current episodes.
curious about those little spikes that stick out on the inlet side of those superchargers… vortex generators?
Beautiful.
Ceracoat next for the Whipple?

We'll see you at the show! If you want to see the truck, stop by the Amsoil booth, central hall.
Fantastic job by Whipple and you guys! What kind of boost will it making
You'll have to wait and see! More episodes coming this week and next week.
Isn't the power figures more interesting? Boost is just a function of resistance, so in actuality it tells you very little about power.

You should maybe use a clear cerakote on it water and dirt will just run right off with ease. Gale very nice blowER joB.
is there a science behind the asymmetric outlet?
This blower on a marinized Duramax making 650 hp would be one nice package. Would be a wonderful pair in an Outerlimits 36SL for the Euro market.
Thanks BANKS !!
wish I could see it @ SEMA !!!
That intro made my week lol
Thank you, thank you. We're here all week!
That's a beautiful supercharger for the Duramax will that be a sale cause I would love to put a supercharger on a LP5
Do we know the weight differential between a typical. Great job guys
Loved the 'intro'!👍
What kind of boost numbers do you think it will be producing?
What are your thought on GM killing off the Duramax for electric???
They stated they're going to be all electric
R.I.P LS, LT, and Duramax
They recently retracted that statement. They'll keep making them until they don't sell them.
Very cool. Good work guys
Thank you
Best intro so far!
So... the oil sight glass is on the back of the blower facing the firewall. Keep a mirror handy
Greatest intro ever
Banks has had my attention since he was making Dakotas go 200mph. He has yet to be boring.
What platform supercharger is this for or is it universal? It’s a true piece of art while also a hell of a performance gain.
I think its a one of a kind, Made for Banks only. But it's for a LML Duramax I think.
It's a custom Whipple 3.8L Gen 5 supercharger for our Duramax L5P-based crate engine program.

Well done, you guys do amazing work cant wait to see it all put together. 👍👍👍
Thank you. Quality is our middle name.
Add that to those amazing headers, this is gonna be a good looking ride from any angle.
Yes indeed! Especially when its laying frame on the ground.
What exactly requires lubrication inside the blower and how is it fed? Has me scratching my head
Just when you think you’ve seen peak talent they slip in a double tail whip for good measure.
I wonder what the price would be for that blower for an otherwise normal purchase.
What sort of chaos is created in airflow at the point where the two intakes merged into one?
"that was weird"
"wanna do it again?"
😂

do they actually sell this supercharger? ive been looking for it i would like to get one (eventually)

That supercharger looks like a playboy model. I gotta get ahold of Whipple and get the trifold picture of this.
😂😂👍
Outstanding series 👍👌
Glad you think so! Thank you for watching!
What would it cost me to get one for my L5P just as you guys designed it?
Art. Freaking pure art.
What versions of the Duramax can this fit?
Holy crap, putting your hand and forearm threw the Whippler supercharger inlet. That's massive
That's because it needs to suck in all the air, all the time.
Mr. Banks do you guys plan on modding a 3.0 duramax?
Gale is so amazing.
Wow. This is art pure art.
💕
Yes indeed, art in the form of metal.
A work of art or a piece of jewelry or both combined jewelry art .
Either one works for me.
Would love to hear the sound of that thing screaming.
How come banks isnt talking about the RPM act which prevents the performance mods on any vehicle with a VIN. RPM Act @Banks Power , you need to support it
We're racers and have been since 1958 when Gale sold his first engine. We publicly back the RPM act to preserve racing on multiple occasions.
The “Marilyn Monroe” of super chargers!
We were thinking Mamie Van Doren, but Marilyn works too.

Mr banks but won’t the clear coat on the blower make it retain more heat?
It'll have a negligible effect.
I'd be cool to have project credits on the truck. Kind of like the way movies have credits. It would probably cover the entire bed.
what a work of art
I wish you guys had made ANYTHING that I could have put on my v10 for my Dodge 2500.
can you share the CAD file for the blower?
No, sorry. That’s Whipple’s property.

What happened to the fluidamper crank pully? 🙄
Its there, the one going in Lokjaw has a custom pully assembly on it.
