This kind of content set me on thinking. Took me a 4 days to finish this video. And every time I was coming back to same thoughts.
At beginning I saw a room, room many of would love to have on many reasons. Then I started to sort out content. I remember Citrus from quite a time now, when 2old4toys was big, when crapmunky was posting interesting content, when people wasn't so obnoxious and more public friendly. But with Citrus everything was really simple. Clear thought, honest opinion, never a dull or fake moment. Journey was really enjoyable.
At the beginning I kept in account how long Citrus was running the hobby and wasn't really shocked to see more and more MG boxes lined up in certain order. Then I saw a amazing collection of PG giants. What a shock. Don't get me wrong, no ill thought in whole length of video rouse in my old good for nothing brain! None! I was amazed, I was even more later on when continued to watch later whole video. PG, limited editions, MG also a lot of special entries. All breathtaking. And whole inspiration to rise such outbreak of thoughts wasn't based on material income, no. Only on circumstances given. We all are kinda players with card's given on this humongous playground of life. And circumstances always differ. And in this case I'm pretty sure some people are caught in thought - why not me? I'm no stranger, won't lie. Have no half of value what Citrus owns in this small room. But also lack in many others departments, like possibilities, age, slow development in life time achievents, we all suffer.
But some of us are truly deserving better. For a long run as much as I know Citrus, I'm pretty sure he is one of those persons. And I can't add anything else but only thank you for your effort to community and those dare to you. Keep on sharing.
People, don't give up. Not today, perhaps not next week but in future we achieve everything we deserve.

Thank you so much! I'm very glad to see you back as well.
Over the last few years, a lot of friends gradually dropped out of the hobby due to various circumstances, but one of the most depressing reasons was because his partner disapproved of his hobby and asked he stop or tone it down. So he did, and he turned to collecting shoes. (Although I'd say that's about the same as collecting rare gunpla; you just don't "build" a shoe.)
It was disheartening to see how quickly my IRL pla friends moved away from the hobby, mainly because their spouse "didn't like it," so I want to emphasize that having a supportive family member is a big part of how this closet came to be. Every time I had a mini-crisis of "should I buy this," I always had a gentle place to land, the answer was always "buy first, think later" and "if it makes you happy."

@@citrusjuicebox I never was gone actually, I just to happen am too often discouraged, disappointed, depressed. A lot happening in world and this afflicts us as well. But each in different way and level. People choose to move in life and follow different drama with it's cons and pros. Others, like me, was taken by current and carried away towards no destination. And here another different side by your life, a soft point you can always turn to and never be disappointed. Wich some of us lost forever. A truly blessing. I wonder if you remember our interactions? Shame you don't have Twitter.

I started Gunpla building in the 90's then stopped when I had children. As my son was growing, he would always open my closet to stare at my backlog. I promised him I would teach him when he got older. When he became 9, he built RE100's and did an amazing job on the GP04. Now he graduated to MG's. He now has his own collection: He builds SEED and IBO kits while I take care of UC kits. Even my daughter builds kits on occasion. I just wish I had a walk-in closet space for my backlog like you.

37:01 from Feral404 regarding print dates:
There's no need to consult other sources for print dates of your kits! For each new decade after release, a small triangle is stamped into the mold between the two date dials. In my example of the MG Qubeley (released in 2001), prints from the 2000's have no triangles, 2010's have one, 2020's have two, and so on.

Aaahhh man, 2Old4Toys and rrobbert184, i used to watch their content all the time when i found out there was Gunpla modelers making videos on TH-cam. Same goes for vegeta8259, Prime92, and stryderprime.
Did your parents ever apologize for destroying your models during the renovations? I've been lucky and have managed to keep the 4 MGs that i built as a kid in good condition. I can't say the same for all of the old 1/144 kits, i think they all got thrown away.

After get a job, my gunpla collection become bigger. Because this is my basic dream: to buy anything that I can't when I was a child.
At first I want to buy PS5 or Xbox but then I realized that today game style and system are not my things ( online game, group game, always connect to internet, download game, dlc etc)
So I go to my second desire: gunpla.
Of course I spend and choose carefully. I never buy perfect grade because it will spend too much time. Never buy p-bandai, or special edition because it's too expensive.
Only buy master grade if I think the mechanics, style and details are more worthed than hg version ( zeta, hyaku shiki, 00raiser)

I put the boxes back to where they were in the closet. I leave the runners, manual, and accessories inside, and also the finished kit if I'm not displaying it. Nothing gets lost this way and it's easy to dig out stuff if I need to.

And yes, the newer prints of the Qubeley still come with the cardboard inserts. I just bought one from the Newtype restock about 2 weeks ago and the insert is still there. Even the MG Gp01 I bought last year around September came with the insert. The fact that Bandai still includes them on reprints of old MGs is a nice touch.

Yo Citrus, that collection you have is awesome! I have grown a MASSIVE collection myself across all grades (except maybe just one PG only) and I love how you organized them and made the point about the stacking weight issue. I've been doing my best with what space I have to setup organization space for everything. Its not perfect but, I definitely I try my best with what I got.
I started Gunpla/Gundam right before COVID hit back in 2019. Walked into a local hobby store in my area and found an HG Vidar from IBO. Didn't know anything about it but, loved the incognito look to the design and from there its been an addiction to the hobby and the franchise as whole. I try my best to get around to building everything I have but, between just work, time with others and other hobbies (gaming, etc.) its hard to get that key time to build but, I still love it at the end of the day and just keep collecting. 😊

31:00 - I made almost the exact same mistake with the 1/100 Sword Impulse ... except I was in a local store, and I definitely should have known better :,-) I saw the 1/100 badge, said "Cool box art, it must be special or something," and then took it home. I started to build it anyway after I realized what I actually had because I didn't want it to go to waste, and it was kinda garbage. Who saw that coming?!

34:05. I too have an interesting story with the mg qub too. Back in my childhood years, my dad was heavily into gunpla and would watch the fuji TV program "Lets build Plamo" which was was airing at the time. One of the episodes featured a female Japanese pro modeler who used manicure as pearl paint for her MG qubeley build and I was so amazed at what she could do during the entire episode. I believe she has a youtube channel and the actual tv program can be found on youtube which i believe many gunpla fans during the early days of youtube used to binge watch those japanese tv programs.

Oh! So the Mobile Suit Breakdown actually did some research on the Gabthley name back when they were covering Zeta Gundam. It seems most likely that they wanted to call it the Gadfly (representing Jerrid Messa being a pain in the ass), but the regular japanese spelling/pronounciation of the word Gadfly had already been used a few years before in Crusher Joe to name a vehicle. So they basically came up with an alternative spelling and went on ahead.

@@citrusjuicebox It's season 2 episode 22 of the podcast if you want to give it a listen. I think what made them shoot for the interpretation is that Zeta is filled with greek myth and the Gadfly has symbolism in greek mythology.
