    “Live a little” really resonates with me because I’m the only vegan in my household and my whole family. So raising my kids with a partner and family that don’t get it, I always hear something like that. Also “moderation” resonates as well. I’ve made so many unhealthy choices over the years with the same excuse as that. The more I said it to myself, the longer I went with nothing changing. I’m done with that now and I’m done with trying to please everyone. I want to not only live, I want my quality of life to be the best it can be! Thank you guys for another great video! I didn’t realize how much I needed to hear this ❤

      I’m in the same situation. (Yes I too have a TH-cam channel that’s new)
      I MUST eat gluten free due to celiac disease and I choose to eat vegan for my health and for the love of my fellow creatures. I’m a mom of two and married to a man I love. But I’m solo in my dietary choices and prioritizing a health focused lifestyle. It’s sort of lonely and frustrating. I am also the cook in the family so I find myself making two versions of meals at dinner. Dusty and Erin are fortunate to have a common focus about lifestyle choices.

    If I'm remembering correctly I've heard Chris Wark say "100% is easy 99% is hard" and it always stuck with me. You are reinforcing that exact point! I've allowed organic oil based foods from time to time at our favourite out of town restaurant. I always noticed digestive changes the days following our out of town trip. Also, here at home, I'll make higher in fat treats for my family-not all of whom are on a WFPB'd diet, sort of as a peace offering-lol. Even though they'er made with mostly WFPB'd the higher fat and unrefined sugar alternatives-like maple sugar etc. still tended to make me gain some weight and not feel as light and clean as I do otherwise.I find myself nibbling on them for all the same reasons you've mentioned that others love to say to you and we say to ourselves. Thanks for the reminders!

    I’ve been a social drinker in the past and have decided to give it up for the time being. Being older and beginning menopause where sleep deprivation is my worst symptom, Dr. Marie Claire Haver says if you’re choosing to drink you are choosing not to sleep. That was pretty powerful for me.

    Thank you for mentioning the grandparents opinion. My husband and I have been Vegan for 8 years and we are raising our current 18 month old as fully vegan. And we get the same reactions/looks from extended family sometimes. Almost as if we are “depriving our child”. Meanwhile he’s sooo healthy, strong & thriving. And we are giving him a life of good health and compassion towards all living things.

    Wow! Excellent points! For me, the "take aways and crisps" in moderation needs to be chopped and dropped. The "live a little, live a lot" - is going to be my new comeback! And am I really doing everything I can? Clearly not! The results would speak for itself. 🎉 Thank you for the honesty and pearls of wisdom.

    Needed this video today. I was mostly vegetarian and then went full vegan for the almost 2 years I was nursing. And I’m not sure why but the last few months I fell off the wagon a little bit and can definitely tell the difference. I have spent the last few days revamping my diet and nutrition. And seeing this video this morning has given me more motivation. Thank you! Definitely going to look into this bundle. 🤗

    I definitely feel a lot of pressure from friends and family. Actually have gotten into arguments over our choice to eat clean. They think it’s ok to live a little or I’m holding my daughter back “restricting” from enjoying treats in moderation. This video helped me put my values into perspective.

    I was just discussing the "everything in moderation" concept with my parents yesterday! I also disagree with this, simply because of the reasons you stated. One person's moderation is another person's excess. Coming from a family with a history of disordered eating, I had to teach myself how to care for my own body and nourish it properly. Going plant-based felt like returning to myself and being true to who I have always been deep down. I am sober going on 3 years now and couldn't be happier. Thank you for this video. ❤

    I literally got talked into eating things over Memorial Day weekend and I have not gotten back to plan at all. I’ve gained weight and feel cruddy. I feel like I can’t even cheat because it’s like an alcoholic once you cheat then it all goes downhill. I’m going back on track tomorrow. Been prep cooking today to help that out. These things you say are so true.

    Thank you for this. Agree sometimes with family it can be difficult I have a 4 yr, 2yr and 3 month and all are plant based. We just started our journey a year ago. but you both made some excellent points. I feel like in general ppl aren’t ok with plant based kids eating fruits veggies, green juices but their ok with our kiddos having chicken nuggets and ice cream it makes no sense. I just tell them. Unfortunately I grew up differently and now that I know what’s best for my body I want my kids to grow up eating their best and feeling their best as well :) it’s such a blessing I’ve healed my eczema. And for a wedding i ate cake and now I’m struggling with the my eczema again. I wish I wouldn’t have “lived a little” nor “ate in moderation” so thank you for this video feel like I can definitely relate and it’s super encouraging to work harder and be better. God bless :)

    We live in a society that allows and even pushes us to have these beliefs... because there's always drugs to fall back on. There was a time years ago when our new family was not on healthcare and that was when we really started taking food seriously because food became our medicine. We started using more homeopathic meds, started thinking more about movement... we because much more driven to own our own health. Though I am now grateful to be back on healthcare, I now have a much different view of my role in my own health. I could totally resonate with this video. Thank you!

    When you said it's almost easier to just have a title.... Just to know what you do..... I felt that in my soul. Definitely having a framework to live within is so so freeing just like you said. That right there is the reason why I went plant-based. Moderation has never worked for me, which is the reason why I got to 44 years old extremely overweight. Now I can say you know what - I'm vegan and I don't eat sugar and I am active daily. Those are definitive statements that I can make that speak to myself as much as to other people. Now I'm losing weight but more than that I'm feeling amazing and I know that I am so much healthier. Are there things that I'm missing out on? Sure. But I know that I'm gaining 20, 30, 40 great years of life. Life that my entire family on my mom's side missed out on because they all died by the time they were 65 years old. I'm trying to live way longer than that and it is definitely worth not getting to order the steak bagel from McDonald's.

    By far the hardest aspect about alcohol to me is the social aspect. Having one or two glasses of wine while chatting with friends over multiple hours is truly enjoyable. I feel well connected with them and feel like it was a good time. It was very hard to weigh the aspects of social benefit versus detriment to your health. I know you're putting chemicals into your body, but sometimes I question that in comparison to the psychological happiness that comes from having a drink with friends. Yes, in moderation 🙂! I don't know if we can truly study that with science (currently).

    I agree with you on all of these things! I decided a while ago to relax and not stress out when I do have something I shouldn’t, not because I think all things in moderation but because it isn’t healthy for me to get hung up on whether something is 💯 compliant. I do the best I can, to live my best life, which always has room for improvement but I don’t go overboard. If I want that piece of chocolate then I have it but then I move on. I take what serves me well and I don’t get hung up on the rest. I try to live a well balanced life and the truth is, I love my whole food happy life. I enjoy exercising and embracing the simple things. You guys hit this on the head today! Great job, @eatmoverest!

    I agree that moderation sucks. I have fallen into the moderation trap the last couple of years and have been slowly gaining weight…and then have also been guilty of saying “I don’t know why! I do all the things…” when in reality I know I’m not. Inspired to just say no, stick with what feels good in my body and can’t wait to get back to the gym after travel!

    Regarding what you said starting at 4:21 - AMEN!👏🏻I feel the exact same way. Completely ditching alcohol (way back in Nov. 2003) for me is tied for second best decision I ever made in my life. Of course the best decision was coming to Christ. But yes, I too felt so much better and thought to myself, "Why didn't I do this years earlier?" I wholeheartedly agree that the "all things in moderation" line is unwise.

    Me and my wife and four kids have been eating the natural human diet for a few years now. My biggest inspiration was always John Mcdougall. He had such a direct and honest approach. He was a countercultural hero. Our money obsessed culture is only interested in profits. They want to make you think living a natural human and humane lifestyle makes you a freak. I think the opposite is true. Torturing and consuming animals makes you a freak. Our capitalist culture is freakish and violent and insane. You have to be willing to challenge the status quo and seek truth to find a meaningful and fulfilling existence.

    I agree with so much of this! (But I’m also type A lol). I totally find it easier and way more freedom in having a “capsule” style way of nutrition and fitness…. Just like I have with my belongings, clothes, personal care!
    I have my go-to meals and daily walks!! I add in lots of play with my children and weight lifting here and there mainly for bones and booty lol… and I just don’t believe in moderation in “everything” either. I will NEVER NEED alcohol, profanity, superficial drama… not to compare it to something as important as Gods standards, but we’re all not perfect but we can do our best and there are some things that are nonnegotiable for me personally, but I totally understand and don’t look down or judge anyone else. We all have our own path to travel!

    Hi, this is such a great video. I agree with all of them I especially like the live a little versus live a lot. That’s the one that’s hardest for me, especially with three teenagers wanting me to join in on all their food and drinks. I was thinking of doing the floor, but I have a question about all the sun products are they raw?

  • @rs-wj1sm
    @rs-wj1sm 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I have thot about doing the whole raw shebang thing - and I do raw completely, in morning, stretching it to lunch time - so far. Have a salad for lunch and something cooked for supper (all vegan). I have looked at the people who do only raw - and yes, the young ones look vibrant, healthy, and great, but looking at their more recent pictures they seem to have gotten older looking. Maybe they are healthy and just look older, but if the raw all the time is not doing what it says it is - what is the use? So, I come to you two. I have watched you since before liv was born and your health and looks (the whole package) is wonderful! You guys look so vibrant and healthy (are those the same?)🤣 anyway, I am trying to model myself to your lifestyle - food, exercise, and attitude!

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Supplement B12. It is a bacteria found in the soil, so best to supplement! As for iron, eating iron rich plant foods will suffice, and it can help to pair vitamin-C rich foods with iron-rich foods to optimize absorption. Also keep in mind coffee and caffeine has been shown to inhibit absorption.
