Holding the clutch in puts prolonged pressure on the throwout bearing of the clutch. I used to hold the clutch in a lot, until someone pointed out to me that it makes that part in particular age much faster than it normally would. Holding the clutch in at a single stop light could be the equivalent wear on a throwout bearing of an hour of stop and go driving.

After I saw your video, I bought one myself. Not in such in good condition as yours, but I intend to bring it closer. You are missing the parking sensors, it is a very big car and it needs them. By the way, very nice country you have, everybody wants to live there :)

if u want a nice bmw.. buy the 525td has the same fuel consumption like the 520 and has 164 horse-powers , ( the 520 has 144 i think but for 1670 kg its a slow engine )

And no, theres no "beginners are afraid" thingy, nor have I had the clutch all down, Ive had it at the grip point so I dont have to press the brake, and thats how skilled people drive. The way you suggest, is how grandmothers drive.

The clutch works this way, when its fully pressed in, its totally loose, there is no contact whatsoever, and it doesnt wears out at all, its made to handle it. On the other hand, if you put the gear in neutral, and then press clutch to set first gear, you wear the clutch slightly.
No , on bmws the n57 2.0d was the shittiest engine full of problems 2.5d or 3.0d are much quiter and smoother and a lot faster and more reliable so 2.0d is not ok probabbly the fuel consumption but you pay for it... problems in engine.

It doesn't wear the clutch but the clutch release bearing ever so slightly more, but the bearing will out last the clutch anyway....so doesn't matter.

outside it has actually pretty much BMW engine sound. Inside however it sounds not very deep, probably sound suppression did the job...
Because it's a 4 cylinder is for fuel economy not speed or sport... if you want aound 6 cylinder always and being a diesel is even worse...

Nothing really wears in the clutch... everything stops in the clutch and the only thing you wear is the "springs" and that is also very slight wear.
