This is the CFP National Championship game for the FBS.division which is the top college division. There are around 130 FBS teams that have a shot at playing in a 4 team playoff. (This will soon be expanded to 12 teams). Realistically, about half of the teams actually have a fair shot at the playoffs. The teams that are selected are always from one of the 5 "Power Conferences" or they're an independent team like Notre Dame. The P5 conferences are the SEC, BIG 10, BIG 12, PAC 12, and ACC. Those conferences consist of 65 teams. Any team from the other "Group of 5" conferences would have to go undefeated, beat everyone convincingly, and beat a top 5 team from the P5 to even be considered for the playoffs.

So instead of transferring to another major college he left ,and went to a Junior College for a year. He came back to UGA during the pandemic year which gave everyone a extra year of eligibility. After the pandemic year Georgia starting quarterback got hurt early during the season Stetson took over. Won the championship last year his junior year and this year. 29-1 record over the last 2 years, as a 5'10 or 5'11 walk on.

I could see where y'all would be confused whether this is a game between teams at the top tier of college football. It was the most points scored by a team and the largest margin of victory in the national championship game BCS (1998-2013) or playoff era (2014-) . It was the largest total yards differential in either era as well. In fact it was the largest margin of victory of any "bowl" game ever (started in 1902 and have been over 1500 over games). As far as SoFi stadium, that camera angle is from the skycam that's on cables and used by ESPN at any game they broadcast as far as I know. The stadium looks great. Unfortunately with the really bad weather they were having in LA rain was being blown into the stadium from the corners through the openings. It's not completely enclosed. Also I saw videos of leaks in the roof. The leaks are something they'll have to fix.

For the seniors the next step is NFL. This is the Division I NCAA Championship game. This is the same division as all the other big teams you mentioned. Georgia has now won 2 years in a row. Last year the #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide lost to the #3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs 33-18. You never know where the real talent might come from. Bennett was a walk-on at Georgia his first year (meaning he was not a scholarship player.) He went and played at a junior college for a year (or maybe 2) then back to Georgia and won the starters job. He has now won 2 straight championships and he was MVP of the game last year. He was also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy this year, but did not win it. He is a bit older due to his years at junior college first. College athletes have a fixed amount of years of eligibility to play their sport in college. I don't believe Jr College counts against them (not certain to be fair). Over the last couple years some college sports programs having cancelled much of the season 2 years ago due to covid, the NCAA allowed many an extra year of eligibility.

Remember every year is a new year as many players graduate or go to the pro draft and many top teams start the next year with 10 to 20 starters gone from the previous team including often losing a key quarterback or runner. So, Georgia winning the Title 2 years in a row with only one loss is quite a feat and it would be very difficult to repeat again next year.

The real Championship game happened a week earlier with Georgia vs Ohio St. OSU held a decent lead most of the game until a controversial hit on #1 OSU WR Marvin Harrison Jr gave him a concussion and took him out of the last quarter of the game. Game hinged on a last second field goal and ended 42-41. One of the greatest games I've seen in MANY years.

Just as in English football, only about dozen college teams are considered what you guys would call the “big 6” in the EPL. about 12 teams are in the hunt for the Title every year, the other 118 schools rarely make the playoff. TCU is traditionally good, but not what you would consider a “big 6” and their appearance in the National Title is considered surprising based on size and resources. Over the last 40 years, those 12 teams has shifted from decade to decade, it more heavily depends on the coach in charge at the time, but now college players can be paid, the landscape is changing quickly. If any school has a very rich alumni and wants to buy a championship, they can sure as hell try to do that now.

You had fun picking teams with NFL last season, now it's time to get into college (NCAA) ball. For me that's more interesting than NFL. So many more teams, and big rivalries, back stories, traditions. A college team loyalty goes deeper in your brain than with a professional team. And the games seem livelier to me.
Adding the millionth comment to say this is the top NCAA teams (NCAA Division 1)...the division that includes Ohio State, LSU, Penn State, Alabama, Michigan, etc etc. The school is whatever NCAA division it is, and they play the other schools in that division. Division 2 and 3 schools just get much less fanfare than the division 1 schools.

Usually someone comes into college at 18 and they go to a 4 year school, they usually graduate or leave a 22. So stetson stayed a little longer than normal because he transferred from a different school...he is older than the other players.
Georgia is 29-1 in their last 2 season with the back-to-back national championships. They have been beating some high ranked opponents throughout this run as well, so we'll see how next season plays out (their schedule next season is pretty soft looking too, so another 15-0 or 14-1 is possible).

How it works in the simplest way is that the next level for some of the best are professional ranks NFL (highest level of competition (i.e the champions league of American football) is the dream for most and others might not get chosen and play in other leagues like CFL (Canadian Football). After a student/player has completed 3 years they are then eligible to leave NCAA (college) football and have a chance to become professionals. Depending on things others might choose to return for their Senior year (4th year) of uni and do it for another year. When you see the "SEC" where a Georgia or Alabama play or conferences like "BIG 10" like Ohio State and Michigan etc.. Think of the football pyramid: FA: NCAA 1st division: SEC, BIG 10, PAC 12, BIG 12, ACC: considered the highest level think // there are other conferences within but those are seen as "the Power 5" these are your household schools where the majority of the money comes from. This game was a murder. TCU looked good on that one series, then it was over. You could tell Georgia was planning on a shut out, otherwise they would have taken it a little easy on TCU. Only score 55.
This is not a 2nd tier league. These are the very best of college football. Many of these guys, especially on Georgia, are headed to NFL. Georgia is in same conference as LSU and Alabama (SEC, toughest confenence in top tier college football, FULL of NFL level talent). For the seniors the next step is NFL. This is the Division I NCAA Championship game. This is the same division as all the other big teams you mentioned. Georgia has now won 2 years in a row. Last year the #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide lost to the #3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs 33-18. You never know where the real talent might come from. Bennett was a walk-on at Georgia his first year (meaning he was not a scholarship player.) He went and played at a junior college for a year (or maybe 2) then back to Georgia and won the starters job. He has now won 2 straight championships and he was MVP of the game last year. He was also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy this year, but did not win it. He is a bit older due to his years at junior college first. College athletes have a fixed amount of years of eligibility to play their sport in college. I don't believe Jr College counts against them (not certain to be fair). Over the last couple years some college sports programs having cancelled much of the season 2 years ago due to covid, the NCAA allowed many an extra year of eligibility.

Remember every year is a new year as many players graduate or go to the pro draft and many top teams start the next year with 10 to 20 starters gone from the previous team including often losing a key quarterback or runner. So, Georgia winning the Title 2 years in a row with only one loss is quite a feat and it would be very difficult to repeat again next year.

This is the same level of college football at Ohio St & lsu. Georgia beat LSU in the SEC championship & then they beat Ohio St new years eve to advance to the national championship.
As a South Carolina fan we have to play Georgia every year because we share the same division in the best conference in college football, the SEC. So I knew this game was going to be a stomp. I just had no idea how bad it was going to get. #GoCocks

The real Championship game happened a week earlier with Georgia vs Ohio St. OSU held a decent lead most of the game until a controversial hit on #1 OSU WR Marvin Harrison Jr gave him a concussion and took him out of the last quarter of the game. Game hinged on a last second field goal and ended 42-41. One of the greatest games I've seen in MANY years.
Georgia plays in top division of college. The lard two teams they beat before this game were LSU and Ohio State. Back to back national championships. The next step for talented is guys is the NFL of which there will be many. We had a record 15 players drafted last year including 5 first round picks. We will have 3 to 5 NFL first round picks this year as well.
There are 130 NCAA division 1 schools around the country that are eligible to make it to the national championship game. Just as in English football, only about dozen college teams are considered what you guys would call the “big 6” in the EPL. about 12 teams are in the hunt for the Title every year, the other 118 schools rarely make the playoff. TCU is traditionally good, but not what you would consider a “big 6” and their appearance in the National Title is considered surprising based on size and resources. Over the last 40 years, those 12 teams has shifted from decade to decade, it more heavily depends on the coach in charge at the time, but now college players can be paid, the landscape is changing quickly. If any school has a very rich alumni and wants to buy a championship, they can sure as hell try to do that now.
Let's be honest, gang, the tiers of American football should look something like:

•NCAA South Eastern Conference
•Pad Wearing Plebs
Georgia is in the SEC conference, the most powerful league in the NCAA. This was the World Cup of NCAA. This was like the Brazil-Germany 2014 of College Football. Never a team was beat so soundly in a Championship, and they started to play in 1869.

Stetson Bennett wasn't even offered a scholarship to play. He was a walk-on that nobody wanted and he went from walking on with no scholarship to winning back-to-back National Championships.
Assessment of these teams is way off base. This is the top tier of college football. Georgia beat Ohio St. in the semi’s, TCU beat Michigan. Georgia is in (and won) the same conference as LSU, Alabama, and 11 other schools. TCU is in (and won) the same conference as Oklahoma, Texas, and 7 others.
This is the top of the top. Players in their last year of college (and possibly some early) will go to the NFL. Others will come back next year for more school/football

You had fun picking teams with NFL last season, now it's time to get into college (NCAA) ball. For me that's more interesting than NFL. So many more teams, and big rivalries, back stories, traditions. A college team loyalty goes deeper in your brain than with a professional team. And the games seem livelier to me.
Adding the millionth comment to say this is the top NCAA teams (NCAA Division 1)...the division that includes Ohio State, LSU, Penn State, Alabama, Michigan, etc etc. The school is whatever NCAA division it is, and they play the other schools in that division. Division 2 and 3 schools just get much less fanfare than the division 1 schools.

Usually someone comes into college at 18 and they go to a 4 year school, they usually graduate or leave a 22. So stetson stayed a little longer than normal because he transferred from a different school...he is older than the other players.

Georgia is 29-1 in their last 2 season with the back-to-back national championships. They have been beating some high ranked opponents throughout this run as well, so we'll see how next season plays out (their schedule next season is pretty soft looking too, so another 15-0 or 14-1 is possible).

Georgia is the absolute best of the crop in College Football with back to back National Championships. In fact - quoting from the internet - "Georgia has gained NFL Draft supremacy. Fifteen different Bulldogs players were selected during the 2022 NFL Draft, which is the most since the draft moved to a seven-round format. Georgia takes the record from the 2020 LSU crop and 2004 Ohio State group, both of which had 14 players taken each year." How it works in the simplest way is that the next level for some of the best are professional ranks NFL (highest level of competition (i.e the champions league of American football) is the dream for most and others might not get chosen and play in other leagues like CFL (Canadian Football).
After a student/player has completed 3 years they are then eligible to leave NCAA (college) football and have a chance to become professionals. Depending on things others might choose to return for their Senior year (4th year) of uni and do it for another year.
When you see the "SEC" where a Georgia or Alabama play or conferences like "BIG 10" like Ohio State and Michigan etc.. Think of the football pyramid:
FA: NCAA
1st division: SEC, BIG 10, PAC 12, BIG 12, ACC: considered the highest level think // there are other conferences within but those are seen as "the Power 5" these are your household schools where the majority of the money comes from.

This game was a murder. TCU looked good on that one series, then it was over. You could tell Georgia was planning on a shut out, otherwise they would have taken it a little easy on TCU. Only score 55.

This is not a 2nd tier league. These are the very best of college football. Many of these guys, especially on Georgia, are headed to NFL. Georgia is in same conference as LSU and Alabama (SEC, toughest confenence in top tier college football, FULL of NFL level talent). They just comlpleted one of the best seasons ever at the highest level.of amatuer competition.
