If you travel off the beaten track in Australia, fuel supplies can be a long way apart and sometimes have zero or very little stock. That's why I put an auxiliary tank in my Mitsubishi 4x4 ute to give up to 1700 km.
totally agree and the fact that in 10 years time the battery pack will need to be replaced on the EV. Who in their right mind would want to fork out $20k plus to replace that? I'll stick with the oil burner, thanks
Sam, I am dying to see any electric pick up truck with one caveat. It needs to be the same size as a standard car that can fit in a supermarket parking spot ,so that it can be used for general run around and occasionally going off-road etc on the weekends. Similar to the standard Toyota Hilux twin cab Utility. Big trucks are not practical in Australia
Sam...when I stop to have a p.ss I don't need to refuel the car just me...less than 800kms they won't be value for $...at least they recognise that the Aust market is not a sedan car market so I guess that's something.
whats to keep the load from going thru that huge back glass everytime you hit the brakes? thats why midgates dont make any sense, if you actually use the tray the midgate has to be able to withstand the weight the truck can haul.
600 km is a nice and dandy if used just for transportation. But I do think on pickups that we need those 1000km ones, so that companies that tow trailers will convert to electric.
If they made a single cab version with a 7 foot tray like my Holden, I'd be very interested. I don't need four seats, but I do need the tray length. Sadly, this section of the EV market seems likely to be as ignored as it is with current petrol versions.
If it is anything like the show model, the back of the cab completely opens up and the rear seats slide out. I'm sure those seats can be removed easily :). Still on fully a 2 seater but close enough ???
How heavy can the ute springs hold the battery + the load for the ute to be effectively functioning as a work ute ? And surely the range will be reduced dramatically with heavy load. Tough choice for real tradies.
I think the push towards low cost LFP is a mistake. Contrary to your belief that long range is not required. I think it is very important. My model Y states 440km I’m lucky to get 250km. Then you add a trailer to these utes and you can halve it again. Please reconsider your opinion.
I'm slowly turning to a pickup as my next vehicle I think for their practicality and adventure factor. I don't like these monsters on the roads though and unfortunately this Maxis has that. I really like the more subtle Radar RD6.
LDV and MG might be owned by the same parent company but I don't see much cross over. LDV make decent vans called the Maxus then you have monstrosities like the Mifa which is one of the most grotesque looking things on 4 wheels. There is no shared designed language, or even obvious pars or software. It might make sense for LDV to be the commercial brand and MG the private vehicle brand and start developing a design language but who knows what is going on. Maybe SAIC has bought out different carplants pumping out this stuff and maybe the plants hate each other or something. I doubt there would be much demand for a pickup truck in Europe whether it says LDV or MG on it.
Maxus ICE is current being sold in the Philippines , gmr less than anyJapnese makesa, same with MG, if they càn undercut the Detroit 2.5 ( Ford ,GM ànd Stelantis Look out,!
If you are using pickup trucks for work, camping, towing, then great.. If you use to commute to you desk job or grocery shopping which is 90% of their usage it's a waste
@@TheEvilmooseofdoom same with EV. Large EVs have bigger carbon footprint than smaller EVs as well. Also large vehicles take more road and parking space. Use what you need, any more than that ruins environment to some degree
One of the worst fake companies - peak price of 25 US cents; now 14.5 cents - with - 1.07 per share loss - thats nearly 8 times more loss per share than it's worth. So do you really think this company will be around in a year or two? Will they be selling these pickups at a loss? Looks like financial suicide.
I’m sorry but it’s just an impractical oversized, overweight and no doubt expensive waste of space like most current so called utes. Unless it comes in tradie spec and not suburban warrior spec it’s a pointless inefficient vehicle. It needs the options for single dab so you can at least carry 1200 x 2400 sheets of cladding and all your tools.

Rivian In my opinion Has the best pickup truck It's just way out of my price range
You can't tow with those as the range goes down to just a quarter.
I think 500km should be the industry goal. And then sell bigger ranges for an extra for anyone that wants them. More than enough.

I sooooo much hope this one comes to Aotearoa as well, this is exactly what we need for our (renewable energy) business :).

When they bring out the van with that range, maybe then I will be excited..

@@genieb That may be true, but my point is you shouldn't have to go to that extreme - just make a proper ute and be done with it.
A mid-gate in this would be ideal and give the option to extend the load bay on the odd occasion that you need it.
Maxus in Sweden too!
Maxus it's already here in Europe, at least here in Spain

What has happened to the Radar RD6? Everyone seems to have gone silent on that Pickup?
Thanks
did you notice the seat slides protruding past the rear bulkhead that in turn looked like a removable section.?
Whilst 1000km range may seem excessive, if you tow it might make a lot of sense.
Wow, love to look at that truck

Only 1000 horsepower? Just joking 😂 😂
Dif between going to the restroom coming out and carrying on, versus stopping for 2 hours to charge.

LDV = Leyland DAF Vans
MAXUS sounds better than LDV, is there a trademark issue?
Awesome looking Electric Pick-up Trucks!
Hope it's AFFORDABLE!
😍💖⚡️🛻⚡️💖🔋🌞💯👍
😉💖⚡️🌏✌️
You want 1000km range in a ute because that halves if you're towing.

I have an LDV diesel van and an MG zs ev, as you say, not much in common if anything at all, except the rotary gear selector perhaps.

Sweet - bring it to the USA and yes you can have one too viking. Or we could eat the rich and make a better life.
I THINK IT LOOKS LIKE A HUMMER "UTE"
it will not look like that as that pick up has no structural support pillar between the front and rear door so it will not pass the safety test
What happens to all the current 4wd/2wd Toyota, Ford, Mazda, Isuzu that have the same configuration?
@@markskeels1952 not sure what you mean but they will probably end up in Africa and kill the new ICE car pickup market
Make it affordable and it will sell 😊
WTF!? This truck was supposed to launch this year, not in 2025. This is not cause for celebration.
why does it have that rediculously long hood? get rid of the hood and they could have made a useful tray in back.
Sabine hossfer made a video about emission schandel at Toyota but I not seen any news about in your channel ...what is going on ...😮😮

It should have at least 4000 hp, 1000 per wheel.
Will Toyota's Champ be the pickup of choice when it goes worldwide.?
Afternoon mate
Bloody great trucks pickups ute
Always crew cabs,so too small load area ,for me,and stupid amount of power.
Make some sense! First you say it's better than a Rivian, then you contradict yourself.

I miss suicide doors.
The Rivian looks like something out of Toy Town. Don't like it.
First
Yes crap and a poorly converted pickup.
