I believe the Vlad Guerrerro interest on the part of the Mets is a Red Herring. (to appease the fantasy fanbase at least in the short term) The smart play would be to gamble that by utilizing a combination of emerging rookies you can replace Pete Alonso's 2.4 WAR Not a very high bar. In the process a star might emerge ala Mark Vientos, making a Vlad acquisiton a completely different conversation. There's much more upside to auditioning our stable of rookies, than there is to trading them via rental only to find ourselves facing the same dilemna Yankee fans faced with Soto or Jets fans faced with Reddick. 2.4 WAR is not a very high bar.. If on the off chance a new star does emerge, it completely changes the value of Vlad.
