I have one child and I homeschooled her. Sooooo worth it. We made it through high school. I used Christian Light because when I started, I was working 2 days a week and it is laid out for you. It's very inexpensive. Workbook style. It worked for us because I could see where to start and where to stop. I always said I'd NEVER homeschool but I felt like I had no choice. It was really a lot of fun and I learned so much along the way. When she graduated, I had 2 cakes. One for her and one for US because WE did it!!!!!!!

Sounds like you know exactly what you’re doing. You don’t make it difficult. You have explained homeschooling better than anyone I have heard. Some people make it sound like they are doing it for 7-8 hours a day. Which they maybe. Thanks for sharing!

I am in Scotland and its not too popular here either. That makes it even more special in my eye :) Mine did a little time at nursery and she hated it so much and so since she was in the system they want us to provide an update at the start of each school year but its not bad just an example of what I provide to her for education. What she learnt etc the past year
My son is an only child too his brother is 25 and has left home so just us and him . Home ed wasn't that popular here really we started 4 years in Oct he would be going to year 8 here as he will be 13 in Dec it seems to have exploded here in last 3 years I'd say x
Great video! I used the Photomath app last year when my daughter did algebra. It helped tremendously teaching her a problem she didn’t understand. Snap a photo of the problem and it gives you step-by-step instructions on how to solve it... ❤️

I agree with you on your view of preschool. I actually really liked that our kids were reading before we started homeschooling (we just started) bc that helped a LOT bc they're a little more independent. Plus the social interaction helped them learn those expectations and rules you were kind of discussing. Great video!
I'm excited for the homeschooling videos! We sort of go by our public school schedule, but we never go on a trip when public school is out. We wait, so then the places we go aren't so crowded. 😄
We use Bookshark (same company) with Saxon math and it has been great for us! It takes us about 3.5 hours, but I am assuming it will be 4 now in third grade. Public school includes recess, snack and break time, etc so 6 hours at public school is about the same as 4 hours at homeschool.
I was so fortunate to homeschool my son for two years. We used "A Becka" (spelling). It's Christian based and we loved it. When we moved to another county he decided he wanted to go to public school. I will treasure those two years forever.
Love this video. It's just what I needed to watch!! My son is 4 and I am struggling with the choice and praying about Homeschooling. It's been on my heart for a couple years already. I'm glad you talked about socialization because thats my fear too but you are right!! I know I will face a lot of judgment and opinions from family and friends and I will need to be confident in my decision to homeschool. Did you go through anything like that? I just love the idea of being creative on how they learn things, changing scenery, educations trips, and most of all being there when my child learns something new and being the one who taught him that. It's like a new purpose on top of motherhood. As always, take care! 💙
Anytime you are doing something different than most peoples feathers will get ruffled but don’t let that stop you from doing what you feel is best for your family! It’s your choice not theirs! 😉
What a great video! We follow the public school schedule near us as well, makes the most sense so that they can play with their friends. You can buy used curriculum on Facebook.. all kinds of pages on there. Also, there’s academy’s like Abeka academy that has a teacher teaching the subjects but your child is still in your home. It worked so good for us last year we’re doing it again. There’s a video here on TH-cam called caesars child part 1 and 2, it is all about homeschooling. Statistics and reasons why you should it’s so good. It helped motivate me a little more because I tend to get overwhelmed thinking about homeschooling again.
loved it girl i am thinking of doing home school for my son when he gets into 6th grade but i don't know yet my oldest is home schooled she does virtual school and i love it she can work at her own pace and she does not have to rush through her school work.

We take pretty days off too! Or just do school outside. And we do Friday field trip days -those are the best! I love the flexibility homeschooling gives me.

We homeschooled all the way thru graduation, for 3 of our 4 boys. From middle school on we used Abeka Academy, since she doesn't have siblings she may really enjoy the video class later. Abeka seemed to be 1.5 years advanced and really helped ours be ready for college. The only subject we didn't like was their math, Teaching Textbooks was great.
We take pretty days but never had a name for them... love it!! Also, to all the moms who are unsure if you can homeschool all the way through to graduation... I never thought I could either, but (by God's grace!), you can! It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, and I am SO thankful. I'm still learning as each kiddo is different and each year is different, but it's so worth it (if God calls you to it, He will help you♡). Oh...and coffee. 😂
My oldest two children are going into the 3rd and 4th grade this year in our local public school and we plan to pull them out once they go into 6th grade and start homeschooling. We will most likely home school under a Christian school umbrella just so I know we are staying on track and we can get help if needed. I love what you said about feeling like you are not educated enough to do this, because I fear that for myself. I only have a high school education, but our middle school and high schools are horrible and I do not want my children in that mess so that is my biggest motivation. Times are changing and it's very scary! Thanks for this video... it really helps! And this year I am going to home school my Pre-K and we are super excited!

Ashley, as young as Savannah is there is a great website called Spelling City we used and our son really enjoyed it. Have you ever gone to a Homeschool Convention? We loved those too!! I can tell you there's NOTHING like the joy of graduation them after homeschooling them all those years.

We homeschooled our 6 kids & they are ALL currently THRIVING in college! The reason we started is we believed there was a ton of time "wasted" in our I.S.D. here, nonsense classes & not teaching the students enough. We bought our homeschooling books here in Houston, but tended to not follow a particular curriculum, but instead bought the best in the subject. Now, we have 6, so I guess there is never a "boring" or "dull" moment here, lolol, BUT I personally love homeschooling! My youngest started college at 16, so have no fear, homeschooling is awesome!

I’m new to your channel and have been binge watching your videos. I have a 2 1/2 year old and 4 month old and I’ve really been debating home schooling when the time comes. But I think I would probably only do it for elementary school or at least the first few years. Do you plan to forever of do you think when she gets older she will attend school?

Yes. Your not trying to get 25 kids through a lesson. When she finishes we move on. Plus we don’t count lunch, recess, switching classrooms. All that adds up.
