Hi..i loaded ships for 33 yrs and quite a few were grain ships. In cc our elevators are old style and our spouts were moved left to right to left by using ropes. Come all the way down get a wrap on the rail down the deck a bit raise up the spout and it cuts it over. Trust me it was an art and gone but not forgotton.. Now on spouts such as this automated one we topped out hatches going left to right and back and forth with a full feed. The up and down was too slow but the side to side was faster so it was possible to top it off full to the brim with a full feed. Once you learn stow factor/ test weight and factor in the cubic ft of the hatch..then i knew within 5 tons what a hatch would hold. No disasters please i dont feel like shoveling lol
We have a gantry crane setup from Peco Seattle from the 70s. We can load around 80000 bushels per hour but damn when it comes to trimming i wish we had your setup. We never stop pouring. My first day operating is Monday. Time to cut my teeth.
This is a good job. I have Knownledge with this kind of products trimming the cargo on board vessels here at Santos Brazil as a loading master and i Love my work. After this Wim have to do ali documents too like mattes receipet, statement of facts ,stowage plan and call For agency draft surveyors loll. Very hard And foi have to be Fast as you can. Interesting to see other types of loaders trimming their way. I load wheat, barley and canola and our loaders are totally different. We finish of with a continuous low feed rate to about the last 50tonnes then call in parcels as we need them.
im guessing one would need to be mindfull of your draught measurments to get a good balenced load.i never dealt with water transports.only trucks.
