    Karen, your top is really nice as well. Thank you for sharing that info about the gathering. Love the cheery fabric as well on that blouse. Take care.

    Like you, Angela, I have reservations about this pattern. I am a fan of puffy sleeves but not of frills and flounc it was fascinating to see the end results on different body shapes and types of fabric. A collaboration over Zoom looks like brilliant fun! Thanks for sharing.

    I love the white dotted Swiss fabric, it is so difficult to find here in the US. The sleeves are the perfect amount of puff too.
    I agree with you that we are very critical of our own garment making. I really enjoy your videos. Take care 🥰

    I like this top but I was not sure of the frill across the bust area (being rather 'chesty') so I used a contrast piping instead which I thought worked well. I also did a loop and button fastening on the neck rather than a tie and i like this better. I will make more and perhaps will try the frill as I do think it is a versatile top.

    Lovely top. I do like this top. I know how you felt about puffy sleeves but I made mine from a soft viscose and it’s lovely. I think it’s possible your creases are coming from the reduction in the sleeve because it seems to go into the sleeve too. I would try the sleeve as it is in the pattern? Well it’s worth a try. The double hem is to give weight to make it hang better and I remember this strategy from years ago when my mum taught me to sew.
    Great collaboration! Hope you make it again also there is a sew along from Friday pattern on this top on TH-cam if you’re interested.x

    I just got this pattern and so was very interested in your and Karen’s review. I was like you, I didn’t know if the puff and the gathers would really compliment my figure and my age, but seeing more and more examples out in vlog land I decided to go for it. I am interested in hacking in longer sleeves and perhaps making a matching skirt as it does seem to pass for a dress that way. Thanks for the review and for introducing Karen, I am going to pop over and view her channel too. Have a great day!

    I really like both of your tops. I watch you both and look forward to your videos. I didn't notice the neckline pulls until your video on Karin's channel. I don't know for sure what does this but I've had the same experience in the past and I think it was either that my fabric didn't have movement (I used a mainly poly) or that my stitches were too small. I'm thinking that if the stitches are too tight that might be doing it. Just an idea.

    Lovely tops and great tips for sleeves. I want to go back and revisit my sleeves as they are too puffy for me and didn’t know how to do it. I also done a version in the white Swiss dot but I lined the body parts and not sleeves. Would love to see a pinafore dress if you make one. I’ve brought some Babycord (needlecord) but now looking for the right pattern.

    They turned out beautifully. I have one cut out of some turquoise fabric with white polkadots but I wont get to sewing it until the new year. I have too many Christmas gifts to sew up yet. So what is the next collaboration? 😁

    I just started my Sagebrush top. I measured for a Medium but choose a Small because I didn't want it to have so much volume. I also eliminated the gathered sleeve head. Is it just me , or have you found the shoulder seam is too narrow? Looks like I will be widening the yolk at the shoulder seam, once done I see making this top a number er of times I my future

    • @DevonThreadTales
      @DevonThreadTales  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hhhmm I didn’t find that with the shoulders. Oh dear I’m sorry that’s happened. Hopefully like you say it’s an easy fix.
      Thank you 🥰

    thanks for sharing your review, I've made this top twice and also reduced the amount of puff in the sleeves , as in my toile they just didn't look right on me. Its a very cute style, love the ruffle in front, but for some reason the back of the neck (where the ties do up) does not sit flat on me. Can't work out how to fix that, but if I made it again, would possibly use a button and loop closure instead. Any advice appreciated :)

    I like this pattern on other people but if you have a large bust the width across the chest is highlighted by the ruffle and then the puffy sleeves add to it, so I don’t think I’ll be making this one. It suits both of you though!

      Hia - sorry for the late reply. No fair enough - it's not for everyone, and I'm still not totally convinced about it for myself!
