My father fell in love with Sagauche during our first road trip down from Denver to New Mexico. That night he said he couldn't sleep because his mind kept seeing the trip. Still my favorite road.

A nice piece of highway I always enjoy when I'm moving from the South San Juans to the Collegiates. Will be making this drive again soon. And looking forward to another relaxing meal at Salida's Boathouse Cantina on the Ark.

I've always enjoyed driving northbound over Poncha pass a little more than going south. Either way, it's always a pleasent ride. Cool that you caught a Dustnado at 5:40!

Sangre de Cristo... sounds like an exclamation I should be using in daily life

Love this corner of Colorado, well away from the usual tourist areas. Spectacular scenery, quiet roads, and lots of great little towns to explore en route. Gotta get myself out here again soon!

I enjoy the places that don’t get the crowds. More solitude that way.

I agree! It’s hard to beat any road in the Rocky Mountains!

Another road in that area to drive is up NM-4 (Jemez Canyon) from US 550 to Los Alamos. In the later part of the afternoon the sun will be low at your back and light up colors in the rocks that are different than in the middle of the day. BTW, I prefer the high road to Taos, more alpine looking.

So this is the road Morphew traveled to Moffat. It's breathtakingly beautiful 😍. She was under the stars near a huge wildlife refuge Sangre de Chisto mountains ⛰️ 🏞⛰️✝️
