PRS SE guitars are shockingly good.
They really are the best you can buy for the money. They just come outta the box ready to tune and go.
How much better have they become? When they came out with the Tremonti signatures like 20 years ago they were most useful as boat oars. Even Fender had better guitars at that price point. What's changed?
@@PrincessDaddy-s2s
Basically everything has changed since then. Nowadays Squiers are absolutely killer guitars, Ibanez have somehow become the new boat oars, LTD and PRS SE guitars are absolutely killer. PRS SE especially are super tight and smooth. Mine came in tune in the box, and played like butter.
@@PrincessDaddy-s2s I have five fenders and five PRs se in my rack right now. Every fender had fret sprout the pickups were aweful and they all needed a serious setup and four of them needed fret crown and level. Not a single PRs se for half the money needed shit accept tune it and play. I do t know where you get your info from but I do t have a fucking Time Machine and every guitar I’ve owned from PRs has come post 2017 from pt Cort I can’t speak to older models but people seem to love them and swear the Korean wmi were even better than these. You can go to my local gc and all the squire necks are fine also from cort and the ensinata and corona guitars are shit. Fret sprout for days. I’m in Ga by the way so humidity is perfect and we barely have winter . If you’re just trolling I get it, it’s the internet but your statement couldn’t be farther than the truth. Just search the forums and look at how many returns fender gets compared to prs. PRs has the lowest return rate by far of the big oems and fender is actually worse than Gibson in returns and Gibson out sells them almost 2 to 1
@@PrincessDaddy-s2s Quality control and the overseas manufacturer. They really are way better now.
People like to think PAF isnt powerful enough for metal. Korn said hold my beer and for all their iconic albums they ran DiMarzio PAFs in their 7 strings. Sounded ridiculously heavy
I think the blue finish on this (and their other recent models), combined with the natural wood at the cutaway, is absolutely stunning! Such a great combination!
I have a Korean SE Custom 24 Floyd and a 35th Anniversary Custom 24 and I am constantly blown away by the quality. The PRS locking tuners are a completely worthy upgrade.
What a nice review! Talking about the guitar 95% of the time instead of showing off licks 95% of the time. So appreciated!
I have two of these. A double cut with a maple cap and a single cut mahogany top. They are incredible for the money. Compares surprisingly well next to my black beauty LP custom.
I picked up the double cut in vintage sunburst. Great guitar and with the price discount, a great value!
I just picked up a Mark Holcomb SVN 7 string. That guitar with his signature pickups sounds so tight through my EVH stealth and Greenbacks. Loving this setup currently and highly recommend for low tuning and tight tone for single note riffing
I have one.My two cents. Stays in tune great. Leans to the treble side. Great looking. Love the neck. Love mine same color
I bought the double cut version of this guitar in black gold burst. Besides the tuners, which you already mentioned, I plan to lightly sand the gloss neck to soften the feel of it a bit and roll the neck binding edges just a tad and it will be good to go.
This is so true , the PRS SE guitars are so good they will shock you !
When we first encountered all this , we were shocked!
We didn't even plug them in and .... we were shocked!
Shockingly good !
Yes , that's right ... the love you take is equal to the love you make !
10 inch radius is pretty typical for prs. Gibsons are more flat at 12 inches. Nice review. These pups coil tap, meaning that they use some of the winds from the other coil to help balance output between the single and double coil tones. A coil split will only use one coil or both coils which results in a noticeable drop in output in the single coil tones. I recently purchased the PRSSE swamp bash special and the PRSDGT. Between the two of them I have really no need for a Strat or Les Paul anymore. They are outstanding instruments for build and for tone. They also come in less than half the costof the guitars they’re replacing. The swamp special is so good at emulating both the telecaster and the Stratocaster that it’s replacing both of those guitars.
Great video. Been researching this one. It has sound and feel and blue-ness (color) that I have been looking for as a late learner. So long Strat. I will miss you but this guitar is calling out to me.
I have to try one. I like the binding around the neck.
Ive got the double cut of this same guitar. It has quickly become one of my favorite players. This and my strat are about all i ever play now. The tele still comes out occasionally but not very often. This prs just covers so much and plays about everything so well that most everything else has just become back ups.
The standard version of this guitar has real binding with vintage cherry on all surfaces. Snagged a 7lb. 12oz. one from Sweetwater for $629. Should be a great comparison when you do it. I've already swapped in Gotoh tuners and all new electronics except the pickups obviously. 50's wiring with orangedrop tone caps. The knobs are also upgraded to fit the CTS pots. Things straight up nasty now. Great bang for the buck. I've got $975 total into it with Schaller straplocks and Gator TSA chainsaw case.
Went to the store today to check it out. Holy crap, easily one of the most resonant guitars I've ever tried. I thought the shorter scale length would bother me - but surprisingly it didn't. Instant purchase! :-)
I almost bought one, thought the neck was a bit too thick. I ended up spending the same money on a double cut junior kit from Precision Guitars which turned out AWESOME
I was looking at a new guitar and my girlfriend said she didn't like it(epiphone SG custom) and she asked if she could pick one out, and I told her if I liked it more than what I was looking at, i'd order it. this is what she picked out for me. Can't wait for it to arrive!
I just bought this guitar but in the Black Gold color, I was so excited to get it after waiting for the right top from Sweetwater Gallery. This guitar is Thick! like a slab of wood the body & Neck Beautiful guitars, the pickups we excellent. I just didn't expect it to be so bulky. Packed it up 2 days later and sent it back. I have other singlecut guitars, Les Paul custom, ESP, this PRS just didn't work out for me as I had hoped it would, the price is excellent for them to. I would still like to try other PRS Singlecut models though. Just my .02
Agreed 100%-I had the same experience. Couldn’t get past the Very chunky neck.
I have the SE 594 Standard and love it!!!
Just got the Teal myself and change out the pickups for PRS USA 57/08. Big difference. Also dropped in the locking turners. I like it almost as much as my core DGT, almost...
I just picked one of these up in turquoise such an amazing guitar and only things i changed we're the knobs and gotoh locking vintage tuners
I bought the exact guitar you have been playing in your recent videos. It plays and sounds as good as my PRS 10 top guitars. I did switch the volume & tone configuration from the Gibson style it comes as to prs configuration and changed to locking tuners and a 500k bridge volume pot with prs style lampshade knobs. Thanks for the recommendation Kyle! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Awesome guitar Kyle. I'm about to pick up another SE singlecut in charcoal. I had Sweetwater satinize the neck on my PRS Paul's guitar and I'm going to do the same with my new one. I replaced my tuners with Graphtech locking, but had to ream the holes a touch larger to fit them.
Woa woah, how much does this satinize cost?? I didn't know they'd do that! That's so sick
@@TrashM0nk95 It was $99. I prefer to pay for professional work as they did a MUCH better job than I could have done with some sand paper. I don't care for gloss necks at all, so this option opened up more guitars for me to look into.
I'm digging the charcoal finish. Backorder though.. I will get a charcoal one. And luckily through Sweetwater, being able to pick the actual one.. I'll get the darkest one.
Don't know if you still have the squire Stat and telecaster, but I have always was able to get it to chug when I turned the tone nobs all the way back!! Love you all and have a blessed day!!!
I ended up getting the black gold burst plekked from Sweetwater. Verdict is still out on it. The neck is beefier than I thought it would be. I haven't had a lot of time with it to see how I adjust to it. But it is a really nice, well built guitar.
If you want a slightly thinner neck the Zach Meyers has the wide fat neck profile along with the SC245. The Tremonti has the wide thin neck if you want even thinner.
@@Guitarest17I have the Zach Meyers and the neck is my favorite of all PRS neck profiles. Plus love the semi hollow sound, great mids.
Sporting a shirt from my youth, nice to see!
Just got the exact same guitar in the same color last week! Sweetwater was blowing the price out on that color! Landed mine for $649.99 Insane bang for the buck. The only things I'm definitely changing are the knobs and going for locking tuners. Pickups are surprisingly good. I do have a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom Bridge & 59 Neck that i pulled from a previous guitar that would probably work well if i feel the need to switch it up. Rock on 🤘
You are absolutely right on the spot with the issues with the tuners. They look great but they are kind of too loose and kind of cheap feeling but they stay in tune quite good also I found that the tone pots are too much loose in terms of they have very little resistance and you have to check em all the time they are not loose they are well installed is that they very sensitive to stay in a certain position
Check out a Core Tremonti man, I think the specs would be right up your alley.
I bought my S2 version of this guitar as I wanted to do some blues after many years of metaling. Then I see Mesa Deuce amps demo'd and Kyle was one, ended up with the Ace 50w, then Kyle demo'd that exact amp with a Marshall 425a cab that sounded amazing so I got one of them and now he has the SE Guitar. Would love to see a vid of that guitar through the Ace head in to the 425a but I know the amp has already gone 😪
Just got the prs McCarty 594 in red on monday. For 20% off retail. Played it all evening and had to leave tues morning. Wont be home till fri afternoon and im so ready to get home to play it some more.
Great pairing w/ the Tremonti! Pups sound perfect. Ive always dug their SE pickups.
That “Skidmark Denim” colorway is sweet!
I feel tempted. If you dig this one, then you definitely should get a hold of the SE277 baritone.
Awesome guitar. For me, same as with Zach Myers SE, i would prefer the PU rings in cream white and the knobs in gold. Looks more classy.
When it comes to PRS single cut, my favorites are the Zach Myers SE and of course the Core Tremonti Custom w. Trem.
I got one when they had the free plek option, my only complaint is the tuners. It won't hold tune and there is no adjustment to tighten them :(
I’m so close to ordering the turquoise one. It’s so gorgeous
I've got one that I bought new in 2000. Back then they were doing the Singlecuts more in the PRS way than the Gibson way. For example, they had wraparound bridges (I had an '00 and an' 03, both Cores) and they had the different controls layout (vols on top, tones on bottom) which was very confusing when you're used to Les Pauls and the scale-length was 25" and obviously 24.5" on the 245.
The '03 was a black 245. Sold it (too dark sounding), but still have the 2000 quilt-top.
I'd be interested in trying the newer ones that are more Gibson-like, but I'm nicely settled into my Les Pauls.
*_PRS SE guitars literally cannot be beat for the price._*
lower output pickups are clearer and allow more character when playing high gain
Very interested in that comparison video between maple cap and all mahogany. Great review
I was agonizing over which single cut to buy including one of these but ended up buying a Jaguar p90 version instead but these are some of the best for sure .
Recently picked up 2 PRS SE guitars. Both with the 1 piece bridge, which I prefer. I really can't believe how much I like them. 1 looks like that, Zack somebody's signature. And a nice double cut.
You're in Erie? I'm straight down in uniontown
Love both my Core 594's..Havent tried the SE version yet
The 58/15 LT's are incredible on the cores, would love to try the s version next to the American ones
So I think I remember hearing somewhere that the old carvin brand is now the guys behind keisel or at least the guitar shop....I remember carvin in the late 90s early 2ks where the ultimate bang for your buck...mts3200 full stack and a dc700 was a rig....
i've owned 3 core custom 24's, a mccarty, and 2 ce24's. all of them had a 10" radius, i'm not sure where you get the idea that prs guitars usually have a flatter fretboard
PRS featured your video in their IG stories today 🤘🏻
Nice PRS ITS BEAUTIFUL DAMN BROTHER WERE ACTUALLY CLOSE IM IN YOUNGSTOWN OHIO AREA ,WOULD LOVE TO CHECK OUT YOUR BAND , any up coming dates ???
Great review- I bought one from Sweetwater, unfortunately none available locally, so I had to buy then play. Returned it as the Neck profile was way too thick-think very chunky 50s Les Paul.
I've never played a bad PRS SE. Probably gonna get one as my next guitar and just mod it to my liking.
Been thinking about picking one up. May have to just scoop it up.
This looks like an incredible axe. Considering picking it up
What is the difference between the SE and S2 in terms of quality and playability?
Oh shit son, I just got this a few weeks back!!! PRS is a fine whisky.
Great channel Kyle. All the best.
That Blackstar sounds so nasty. I’m thoroughly loving this PRS
If I purchase a MCarty, it would be my 3rd PRS. Brilliant guitars.. I had to sub because Google knew I watched one of your videos, but, bro, you're definitely in my wheelhouse, that Splawn, I've owned one for 10 years & it's the hardest amp, if I dime it, it's jail time 😂😂
The tailpiece is genius. Takes 5 minutes to change strings. Very nice. Definitely upgrade to locking tuners.
Beautiful guitars and sounds nice..not sure if id like the thick neck...on the fence really like it
Erie, aye? Fellow PA guy :)
The blue Jean PRS
I like the Core models and some of thr S2 models. Haven't tried an SE Singlecut.
What do you think of the 10" radius fretboard?
I have 3 PRS Singlecuts and love them all, an '01 SC, an '08 SC250 and '14 Stripped 58.
I still love Led Paul's. Recently picked up an Adam Jones LP Standard.
Do you like the 10" radius fretboard? Assuming you do!
It sure is Purty!
I have the S2 version in Eriza Verde I love it
Oh yeah, the pickups are 3 wire which means they're coil tapped, not coilsplit. Coilsplitting requires 5 wires including ground. I reused the resistors and wired that function factory stock.
I wonder how well it would drop C, considering it's scale length.
I looking at that one or the Holcomb. Nice sound and looking geeter
good for you on keeping that....its a stunning guitar and for $800? wow im shocked....i had to edit my comment after I looked up the price....im stunned
I got and returned a se custom because the neck was set in crooked. Nice. Well done.
I have the zach myers and it is incredible. My go to riff guitar, and it's a semi hollow. Thing rips
I think the ZM semi hollow is the best single cut they have on offer. The neck profile is my favorite that PRS offers, the wide thin and it's satin. The thing absolutely rips, I love the more mid forward semi hollow tone.
“I’ve already soiled it in many ways” BRO???
Could you review a caparison or the ibanez iceman 7 string or potentially the ibanez FTM-33?
Great review.
**playing clean**
“That’ll be enough of that”
😅
I love my 594!
It looks like you blue yourself. I have the same guitar and love it.
Nobody does faded denim like PRS
neck is supposed to be thick have to try before buying
I'm in tye market for a sibglecut and prs and esp have been the two I'm trying ti decide between whether that be prs se or ltd I know they make quality stuff and I love how they look feel and sound
Thats a nice guitar man
I hate the way all these 2 piece front guitars look with that tiger stripey pattern that has that line at the bottom where they meet. The line bugs the frig out of me. It's probably an OCD thing. Sounds good tho
Hey PRS, give Kyle and S2. I want to see him review one of those.
The sounds, tones and technique you use are really no use for me, as I’m really in a polar opposite place in those areas, but your thoughts on the guitar are good and worth checking out, still. Beautiful guitar. Thanks.
Only if this guitar had a matching headstock or just plain black. I wouldn't mind if it'd be a darker shade of brown.
I'd snatch one right now if not for the headstock color...
Love the headstock color
headstock matches the neck. Looks great.
Zach Meyers sig PRS has matching head stock and by far a better neck profile than these 594's. These 594 SE's have a SUPER chunky neck that I do not dig at all. Love the guitars but the neck is just not right. The Zach Myers though has the wide thin pattern profile, which for my money is the best neck PRS offers.
@@Naughtforeye you forgot to say “for you”
u should ask the people who send u guitars if ur viewers will get the same out of box set up u got, that way u can share that convo with viewers. I trust ur detailed review, we get to hear how it sounds, but whether u get a better set up because they know u're gonna talk about it, would be the only thing I would grain of salt. Be cool to say they told me they didn't do anything more detailed for me. Thanks!
Best imports on the market. The SE line is can't be beat for price and quality
Love my mahogany top single cut.
Nice PRS 594 SE ... but I prefer the Schecter Solo II Custom.
Only thing i have against the guitar is the gold hardware. I just think it makes it look cheap with gold hardware, I prefer black or nickle.
Looks like the old Charvel desolation design
Bought and paid for reviewer. Shill. Sellout - are never words I would use to describe you. We can always tell when you are genuinely into something, and that McCarty with the Iconic really tripped your trigger. Sounded great, man. I may have to check one of these out.
I have that same guitar and color
PRS when they made the McCarty models didnt just try to copy LP's they corrected all the mistakes Gibson has made for 7+ decades.
Neck angle to bridge, string angle coming out of nut to tuners, the headstock angle being much straighter than on a lp, which all that makes far better tuning stability
Tapping a pickup is hamburger style and splitting a pickup is hotdog style
how does one afford all those amps?
Doing terrible, terrible things......
Прикольно, я тоже на нее обзор делал)))
alot of guitfiddle for the $$$ !
Tremonti could have designed any guitar he wanted in the world and he designed a Les Paul lol.
I like how comfortable these look. I hate the fucking birds and I always will. Get rid of the birds and it would look so much better. I even like that blue top and their pickups are usually decent, but the birds are not for me.
They're for the birds, for sure
*_I’ve always found them enamoring._*
