    For anyone that is struggling don't get frustrated learn a little more and try again in a month or more it just means that you have not had enough experience yet I really had trouble drawing perspective and I got really frustrated but a few months later I came back and now it's easy as pie just keep practicing every day and have patience

    Thanks for sharing your technique. I liked how you have a normal flat model and skew the lines for actual drawing. It makes the process so much clearer. I've been having insights myself noticing how powerful diagonal lines are in making things more 3D.

    Great video! Thank you for all the insight.
    What type of pencil is that? Just a standard, mechanical pencil? Generic? I found them to be too "finalizing" and wondered if I need a No. 4 pencil, for a varied line. Yet, the constant lead and light, erase-ability has it's appeal too.
    I know its just a question of finding what works for you - but I'm wondering if there's a rule as to no mechanical pencil for illustration, because they're too fine... Too exact, and less variable. Please let me know.
    I am illustrating my first children's book, and the "anti-perspective" is key, as she is a child befriended by giants...

    If possible can u talk about, how the angle of any of the two points on the horizon-line in a 3-points perspective can affect the object shape ?
    I mean the angle between the horizon line and one or both of the two points' line, like if i change the angle what would be the benefits of that.

  • @keepingbusy6808

    Can you do an explanation of the pyramid guideline trick you used? Every time I try to draw from this angle it seems to be distorted. Please and thank you

    • @mikibishop1516
      @mikibishop1516 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      to solve your problem, you need to learn how to draw in 3 point perspective. Once you have a good handle on how it works, you can be a bit more free and not have to work out all the technical aspects, but when you're learning, the technical background will give you what you need. A "pyramid guideline" will only help you when you understand the dynamics of three point perspective. take some lessons. it won't kill you

  • @mikibishop1516
    @mikibishop1516 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Learn what you can from this, but just know that when artists draw in three point perspective they're flexing their artistic muscles for the world to see and appreciate their skills. You can expect to spend many long hours trying to learn this. Thinking otherwise is like thinking you can learn to play the oboe in three quick lessons. Expect to tear out a few hairs and spend a few reams of paper learning this. If you don't get it right away, don't get discouraged. To his credit, this artist makes it look easy, and he says he has a more technical video on this, which should help.

    It can be 1 point perspective?

    • @mikibishop1516
      @mikibishop1516 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      no. this is three point perspective, which gives you a worm's eye (or ant's eye) view. He's trying to help you conceptualize something that when done with full technical accuracy is quite difficult. It's good, but learning the technical part is essential to an artist's training. My advice: go to school. this stuff is not that easy.

      I know you wrote this two years ago and probably don't think it anymore but just in case, "one point perspective" is not a camera angle. It refers to the number of vanishing points in a particular image.
      Also, the image in this video technically has 3 vanishing points.
      Due to the slight tilt at which the character is drawn, we see a side plane as well as a front plane. This is why one shoulder is more obscured than the other.
