Hi, Thank you for posting this, and especially for editing in a manner that makes it very easy to hear the direct pre/post comparisons. I also appreciate your use of common gear, rather than a bunch of high-end boutique gear that most of us don't ever get to play. I wish everyone would take this approach. I've read about how the bigsby changes tones a little, though I haven't been able to find a quality video that shows a true comparison with the same pickups. But my new bridge, saddles and bigsby are on their way, so I will find out soon enough! Cheers, gents!
Glad it was helpful! There is a follow up video where we swapped out the bridge for a mastery bridge. That probably does fall in that high end boutique gear world though as it was pretty expensive. I’d have say it was worth it though. Hope you like the Bigsby. We’ve both enjoyed it on that guitar.
I always find with speaker/pickup comparisons, it's always when you whack on the drive the differences really start to show. The stock pickups were great clean...but the twisted ones had a much nicer voice when overdrive was applied. I can very much recommend the reverend soft touch spring in a Bigsby...they make it feel so much more responsive..
Could really hear the difference in the clarity of the pickups. Would love a tele with a bigsby. FYI i make the tele plates with the switch on an angle it gets out of the way of the volume pot.

I Lollar's defense, I think if you were going for a distinct vintage sound then the Lollars might be better. That said, vintage tele neck pickups have never been the strong point of vintage teles. The twisted tele neck pickup is useful own its own. While it doesn't sound like a strat neck pickup, you could play all night with the neck pickup or the twisted tele. Which isn't something you're going to get away with on a vintage tele neck pickup. Thats why you see so many humbucker and p90s in the neck position of teles.
If I had done it I would say there was a possibility it was wired wrong, but we had Chris wire this one so I highly doubt it. I might have to pull the back off now. That said, I have played it live and we have used it on several other videos since this was filmed. If it was wrong it probably would have been noticed. Might have been easier yo hear the difference if we ran the positions back to back. We did a second video on this guitar where we swapped in a mastery bridge, but again the positions weren’t back to back.
@@PJandtheBeard It’s just that whenever I’ve heard a Twisted Tele neck pickup, they’ve always sounded very Stratty, but this one sounds very quacky, like an in between Tele position. I’m sorry if I’m wrong about this and caused you to poke about unnecessarily. Also, give my apologies to Chris (if I’m wrong) for casting aspersions on his skills. Great video though.
I just listened back and I think your right. I personally like the clarity of the twisted tele pickup though. We just released another part to this where we swapped out the bridge for a mastery bridge. I feel it actually brought back some of the low end.
Professional set up & alignment of Bigsby & bridge plate & new pick up sound good👍😎 for me w/ Bigsby strings sound loose & buzzing I have a kit for Bigsby that will fix that & will sound like a fix bridge plus keep that tremolo 99% in tune no matter you dive that tremolo....

That is a cool idea. For me, it is more that I want the volume knob in easy reach. That still might be beneficial with the switch in the back.
I like the stock pickups they are quite full sounding the twisted Tele pickups sound too thin.

I think so but it has been a while. We changed out the bridge for a mastery bridge in a follow up video not long after this one.

Stock neck pickup has more low end.

The stock pickups are not without their charm. I don’t think the twisted Tele pickups have enough going on to justify the price.
