- Today i will be showing you how to make Pholouri.
Pholouri is similar to Falafel.
Falafel is made with chick peas/ channa/ garbanzos.
Pholouri is made with dhal/ yellow split peas.
This is a vegan friendly recipe.
It can be served as an appetizer or as a snack.
I am using a cast iron food mill.
If you choose to use a blender or food processor add in a little flour at a time so it won't be runny.
You can also purchase Dhal flour or Pholouri mix instead of using the fresh peas.
Ingredients:
2 cup Dhal (yellow split peas)
1 handful fresh peeled garlic
2 Wiri pepper (optional) you can use any pepper or none
Half packet of yeast
1 teaspoon cumin (geera)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon tumeric (dye)
2 Cups oil for frying
Steps:
Soak 2 cups of the peas overnight in water
Next day rinse your peas and let if drain
Grind it with the peppers and garlic
Then mix it together with half packet of yeast, 1 teaspoon cumin (geera), 1 teaspoon tumeric (dye) and 1 teaspoon salt
Let it sit for about 10 mins after mixing it together
Now roll small balls with the mixture and fry it until golden brown
You can eat this with any type of pepper or even plain.
This with a cup of tea and you're belly is happy

I almost bought a grinder but never saw anyone use one for beans or legumes. Going to get it at the GoodWill now. Wonderful what you have done here. Bravo. Great demo. Loved the video. Keep going.

I am so happy you tried it and it came out yummy!
Nice
Thank You..Looks Delicious
Thank you for sharing this video. I currently do not have dhal four, a grinder, or pholouri mix. How ever, I do have besan flour and khaman mix. Can I use these instead?
If you use the besan flour you’ll make falafel. Either one of these will work. Make a small batch with the besan flour and another small batch with the Khaman mix and see which one you would prefer taste wise.
@@cookingwithnan48 Thank you. I used the khaman mix and it was very easy to make and delicious!
I use a hand mixer gives the same rough texture or an 3lectric meat grinder
Will try the hand mixer technique
