British Egyptian here. She should run and not look back!
This is a very conservative Egyptian man who doesn;t understand that fashion is an artform and means of creative expression for her and not just 'clothes'. She's not required to wear a headscarf - it's the woman's choice, as is what she wears, particularly if she's not of the same faith. It sounds as if he wants her to become like his mum because of the fact that she's married and doesn't want her to be attractive to other men. You don't lose your identity just because yo get married, but then at 40, she's still searching for hers. Girl, this ain't it.

I'm an American married to an Egyptian man and she really should have listened when he told her his expectations. This is not typical, he is obviously from a very strict family and he won't change. My husband and family are very liberal and t-shirt and jeans/dress past the knees was never an issue when we lived there. Just avoid short/lowcut. I’ll take up Nicole’s case. Her husband didn’t trick her, that’s true, but he did seduce and love bomb her, encouraging her to lean into her fantasy about this romantic spiritual fated whatever, and pressing for a quick wedding before she could change her mind. Then, he took a hard line with her, saying “Things are gonna be my way or the highway, honey.” I can’t excuse Nicole from accountability for being too impulsive in marrying this guy and for not learning beforehand about the culture she was marrying into. However, I also think Mahmoud was kind of a jerk the way he went about things, and I think he took advantage of Nicole’s naïveté.

Especially people from entirely different and very restrictive cultures such as muslim countries. I'm Canadian and my ex husband is Palestinian so I am very familiar. He has plenty of family who do not want to live in a western country for these very reasons. If this man really just wanted to get into the country, he wouldn't argue over her attire, wait for the visa to be approved, then just leave her when he arrives like Mohamed and Danielle and others on the show. Nicole canceled his visa once already due to arguments over her clothes and now that she's giving the relationship another chance he's continuing to do so, so he can't care that much about getting to the US. It's very convenient to pull the "he/she just wants to get to America" card, but it isn't always accurate.

When I asked why they were looking at me like that because I considered myself covered and their were white women who had on a lot less clothing. They don't consider that other people might think their own country and culture is the best. So I don’t think that she knows much about the rules, or how strict they are. Also, I find people who are from overseas are often times… more of a pure strain of whatever culture they’re from. The longer they’re away from the homeland, the more they integrate other cultural beliefs into their thinking.
I’m Armenian. First generation in America on my dad side, third gen on my mom’s. There are things that people on my dad side of the family do that do not make sense to me. I honestly speaking, if I were to marry another Armenian, I would need to marry someone who was more Americanized.

To anyone female or even male, please, please, please understand possession is not love. There's nothing sweet or beautiful in someone being overly possessive of you. Relationships are based on trust and if the person you're with doesn't have any trust in you, even though you never did anything to break that trust, it's time to move on for your own well being.

I always find that women who can pull off shorthair tend to be more beautiful because they don't have to hide behind a blanket of long hair.

@@alyaalicekiki1332 exactly. I think she's very confused and doesn't know what she wants. She's 38, a grown woman, there is really no excuse for this. He even said it again during an episode when she was considering going back. It's frustrating watching someone put themselves in situations where they're destined to fail. I’m living alone in Egypt I never had an Egyptian man and not even planning to have one. She can just come and live here alone to try first the country and if she likes it she can find a husband like Mahmoud in every corner. I moved to Mexico for love, I moved to Norway for love and I moved to the US for love. It doesn’t work! I learnt that I will live where I like and after comes relationship only.
In my district almost all couples are mixed and all these foreign wives are not covered they dress normal. If Nicole decides to go back she must accept everything and probably she will never get rid of the guy. I have a German friend who got married to an Egyptian man she had one condition only that the husband will never apply for the German visa. Nicole should tell Mahmoud he can’t apply for the American visa and let’s see where it goes. I heard very ugly things so just be wise.
