Loyal subjects really stepped their game up for the release of these turtles and I'm glad they did because I had been waiting for a company to release these santolouco versions. I like the wash on the brown and wraps and shell but i feel like it looks too dark on the green of the turtles. I picked up the non washed ones and I want to give them a brighter green wash. Also the regular releases will have trading cards as that is what loyal subjects has begun doing lately which I really enjoy.
I think the molds are great but personally the wash is too much for me so Im fine with the retail releases. To me they look dirty. Which could be appropriate for Ninja Turtles living in the sewer but I prefer mine looking cleaner.
The way I see it is that these are a great deal at $20. If NECA ever gets to them they will probably be $40 or more depending if their prices go up again by the time they do them. So a whole set of Turtles for what 2 will cost with NECA. I think these are a awesome subline. And decently enough priced that even if the theoretical NECA IDW Turtles years away are nice enough to replace these on a shelf I wouldnt have felt bad buying them.
They look cool, but these appear to be mostly molded plastic with a heavy dark green/grey wash dumped over them (why their headbands have so much green/gray paint all over them)...sculpting is cool, but there really isn't much paint at all. With the joint issues, the arms popping out, and the articulation limitations $30 feels like a crazy price. I love the IDW books too, and the designs, but these simply don't compare to Neca's product and are priced similarly. I appreciate you making it clear that your attachment is really driven by affinity for the property as much as the figures themselves.
Ab crunch on TMNT figures makes so much sense that its RIDICULOUS they don't incorporate it. Considering they wear their belts 90% of the time, they could easily apply a diaphragm joint similar to jada toys street fighter.
I recently was able to get the mirage turtles at target. Brought right to my house even!!! And retail price!!! Wish they didn’t make getting it so hard for everyone thou, but happy I got them
I was so lucky I had given up on those after a month of hunting and randomly looked on the target app for something else and saw that they were in stock at my local store, I got the last one🙏🏼🙏🏼

I’m soooo excited about these figures!! I’ve been waiting for someone to make some IDW turtles for the longest time and finally that time is here!! I love the wash on these, I’m glad I was able to get some SDCC versions from EntertainmentEarth.
The black wash here looks amateurish. The wash goes everywhere except they miss the most important part- the shells. I prefer more precise painting. Retail versions without the black wash are better for me, because I could always touch them up myself.
Thanks for the review Shartimus ! I saw these at Ross in a sepia tine color on sale for 25 bucks as a four pack. I mainly wanted it for the weapons. Who knows? I might circle back around for it.
BRUH, guys go to a card/art store, buy a paint that’s a wash/shade, it’s gonna cost like 7 dollars and just slap that bad boy all over the tmnt figs and you will have those exact figs

I just got these yesterday. I'm still staring at them through the plastic window. Is that why they look pin-headed to me. Cause in this video their heads look reasonable sized. But, mine through the packaging, look like they pissed off a witch doctor.😂
I think this video saved me some money, the wash just makes them look dirty. Im gonna go with the cheaper standard release. The promo shots made them look so much better.
I also like that Raphs bandoleer isnt glued on or sculpted as one piece with his normal belt because I like Raph without it way better. But it is a nice piece and the ninja stars are very nice. Mikeys winking face with his pointing finger hand make a sweet combo btw!

That little dot at the top made me really uncomfortable for some reason at least he tried to clean it props to him I just didn’t watch all the way yet when I first commented
I bought the regular Versions, Dude they litterely only Black washed it they dunked it in Black and water and whiped it off. You could make it much cleaner yourself and cheaper too the same result, i Can do in 5 minutes 10 Cent wasted acrylics for all of them.

Just got these guys and man yeah overall I love them. I actually added the black gum outline to the rest of the heads, not as heavy still as Raphs, they all seem to be that way, but yeah it helps the consistency. Has anyone else gotten 2 cards in one fig? My Mikey fig has 2 cards, weird but cool.

Im gonna get mine for bigbadtoystore but leo is sold out at the moment and i cant wait so ima get the sdcc exclusive mikey raph and donnie but the regular leo bc i cant wait lol
They really excel with sculpt and decent paint apps. I like their silver paint for their weapons. The range and articulation tech was rough but they are evolving quick. The big Krang robot is a sweet looking fig, the arm and leg joints look rough once used, but since it is a robot I give it a pass and dig it in the collection. The foot soldier had a great sculpt too. Its awesome to see a whole new design and line with many improvements now though and yeah I am stoked for this new comic line! I have them and super shredder on pre order. As someone who doesnt live close to target and can't get there too often, the neca turtle stuff mostly has eluded me. Partly trying to keep things under control but I would have way more neca turtles if they were easier to get. Finally they did start to go on BBTS and I have been able to go hunting in person recently, so I've copped a few that way and at best buy as well. I am over th emoon happy with the neca comic set, I just got it the other day, a buddy had to help me goto a target 2 hours away but it was a fun journey. And yeah as amazing as the set it, I still want these loyal subject turtles.

Everyone needs to be talking to Jada Toys and taking classes from them, lol. P.S.- For BTLD Spidey: They never have to change their team name. When they get older, they are just the "Ninja Turtles." Not too many of those running around, I don't think they will be confused :P

These were SDCC exclusives with the paint, some places sold these at a limited quantity. The ones that you can order now are standard release without the added wash. There was also a black and white set.
I'm canceling my pre order on the "exclusive" set. These paint aps are horrible. I don't mind paying more for paint aps but these are horrendous. They look like something i might have done when I first started customizing figures.
These are like cheap knockoffs by comparison. Those figures are painted head to toe. These are molded plastic with a wash, bad articulation, and sloppy painted details.

The spec is mostly likely dust on your camera sensor rather than your lens; do some research into cleaning it before doing it yourself cause if you do it wrong it will ruin the camera! Generally a little puff of air will help but do NOT use an aerosol one (like keyboard cleaner type ones etc.)
These look decent, I just don't like the skin tones. I do prefer the '80s toy colors for the Turtles, but those are all very different from each other. For these, three of them look fairly similar, and then Michelangelo stands out too much.
You're totally correct. Retail is just molded plastic, these have been haphazardly dipped or drenched in green-grey wash to bring out sculpted detail. It's a good idea, but the implementation is bad, makes them look like a toddler dunked them in a mud puddle. All over the headbands...just lazy

IDW TMNT > Mirage TMNT. Yeah, I said it. Being first doesn't automatically make you the best. The IDW comic is phenomenal!!!
What's an even better take is that BOTH can be enjoyable and have their pluses and minuses. I know it's whacky.

My Leo has the same right arm issue. I tried putting it back in but, the plastic is grinding away and I still can't get it in.

The paint is to much for me I like the retail ones more they kinda went a little to far with the paint they just look dirty to me
You're totally correct. Retail is just molded plastic, these have been haphazardly dipped or drenched in green-grey wash to bring out sculpted detail. It's a good idea, but the implementation is bad, makes them look like a toddler dunked them in a mud puddle. All over the headbands...just lazy
