Ordered one of these this am and after a long day of eating acid, coming home to a Mike Hermans demo of this really made my evening. Well done as always Mike.
Split Enz “I Got You” would have been a good one to play too! Playing is So trippy, relaxed and well done. Your IMovie skills are state of the art too.
@@popintothechemist the Thorpy flanger has been on my wishlist for a while now. But the Walrus sounds like it might be some stiff competition! Great demo also, as always 👍🏼
I really shouldn't buy another pedal but this one sounds so good. That's deep flanging there. I need to upgrade from a Zero Point but I may keep both as the ZP is unbelievable with dirt. Doesn't do as well on cleans. This has to be the most vibrant analog Flanger and although I went with an Emperor for chorus/vibrato as it's unique, the Julia is a really vibrant chorus. I wonder what they are doing that makes their pedals sound so clear?
Wow, LOVE the graphic of this pedal! I’m good for now, but if they come out with a deluxe stereo version of this similar to the Jullianna, I’d probably get one.
with expression control of sweep too please on that version. It'd go on my list but sadly I'm a flangeaholic, with way too many :O if that's possible... Maybe even remote switching for the waveshape and to put into static mode for expression use of sweep...
@@RedCarRecords It depends what you want it for. For me, features and sounds are the two factors, the sound being the primary... I suppose for most people, the flanger options in their multi fx units (axe, L6, MD500, Neural QC, Mobius, source audio etc.) will be all they need. I have a few of such units but I like dedicated units, their control options and characteristic sounds - I'm from that era but of course current digital units are amazing with control options and MIDI etc. Most stores will have the main units in store to try them out if you don't already have... If you do have, play around with the flanger on the unit you have and see if it catches your ear in anyway and what controls you like, then you can look at other units... Whilst I have a few multi's, most of mine are analogue units mixed modern and classic (reissues) as digital units sound used to irritate me very much when I first tried them L6X3 was first I tried and hated other than a couple of fx sounds... I like different flangers for different reasons and I also like/ play a wide range of 20th century music... Firstly, I am not hung up on a particular flanger type... the videos of That pedal show do have a number of good flanger comparisons, although Dan has a preference for the EHX style so in their videos, daniel has rather promoted a number of copies such as hartman and roxanne in earlier vids and thorpy more recently - consequently second hand prices got pushed up. For me the "copy of" have very little interest unless they add value (features, reduced noise etc) but not at inflated prices when a YT has promoted them and I am not bothered about "vintage" in the slightest as I am not rich and prefer reliable unit and reasonable pricing... A few examples among analogue flangers that I like, the ADA extreme flexibility including exp, the MXR used by a couple of guitarists I fan, so a classic sound on tracks I like. The Paul Gilbert is similar but has the crazy switch addition that can be fun. The mini MOOG has CV control and can be used in stereo (one of few analogue that I know of can do - bear in mind I don't have money to match love of flangers - so I don't search for silly priced rare things)... I might even get rid of my EHX ones at some point when I finish remaking my new boards and compare everything including recent units that I haven't A/B'd yet... My most recent addition is the Komo Rebi, I had been unable to find it second hand, so ended up buying it new - I love the sound, the colour and the fact it has CV inputs and an lfo CV out (I intend to try linking to the MOOG with latter in stereo). That one was love at first sight n hearing for me. It also has a long delay time available so also gets sweet chorus sound too (some of more versatile like ADA do too)... I was one of those smart enough to get one of source audio reflex expression pedals when they came out, so three of it's expressions outputs utilise CV control :) Of the digital, I like the BOSS BF3 for the momentary (I love to use for emphasis on chugging chords :) ) and PAN options and of course, the Earthquaker Devices Pyramids that I finally gave in and recently got s/h... I have a few multi fx versions too but not overly bothered with those as they aren't dedicated fx as all ones I mention... I wish the pyramids had midi :D Also, the source audio units are good and if you get one series, you get phaser, flanger and chorus fx in one pedal with lots of options and app/ pc control - they have lots of unique options and vast amount of control with relatively easy editing. You need the hub to get all midi presets; again second hand is your friend and sell on if not your bag... Best to have a listen to many of the classic flangers (that pedal show covers several and makes comparisons - biases aside) and the more modern options that usually have more versatile and fun features and find what sounds good to you and what features seem like something you might use... I've never tried the strymon but decided the pyramids was worth buying due to it having momentary, 5 presets, different flange styles (that I don't have elsewhere) and numerous controls, as well as stereo ins and outs and sounding very good. Maybe they will do a version 2 with MIDI and a few more types/ waveforms etc :) I've never made any videos on here but am pondering doing some videos on flangers, phasers and wah pedals as I have a thing for those 3 effects and have quite a few of each type, classic and more modern types :) There is another one that was just released think it was spaceman effects but a bit expensive for me and whilst there were quite a few options I can't see me paying that much going off videos I have seen so far... Obviously if you know this channel, you will find great videos on any of the flanger options that might be of interest and Paul Hennings videos are generally useful I find (although he always says he doesn't really do flangers or understand them)
@@RedCarRecords To be fair, I will likely end up with this one and whilst Mike Hermans makes everything sound good, this one sounds appealing with a few extra options of interest too...

True Colors!! Amazing!
Thanks!

true colours - perfect for this pedal :)
there are maybe about 3 or 4 flangers i've heard that i liked and this is one of them for sure
its hard not to love it especially just looking at the damn thang
That's the best modulation I've ever heard!

The slide melody part was tasteee..
Great playing as usual, Mike Hermans!

Have you heard of the Alexander F13? This Walrus pedal is cool, but it's pretty limited when all is said and done.

Stuck between this or the Julia, trying to get both a flange and chorus with a nice retro colour to it. Great vid!
