I always get a chill down my spine with this scene. I know its not historically accurate because it was not signed by everyone on the same day but still the scene is literally the birth of the nation and its very well done.
You should have seen it in the theater when it first was released in the earily 70s. I saw it a week after release; people in the theater I saw it in were crying. It really was a powerful moment.
Thank you to my founding fathers, for giving me freedom security, the ability to live out my dreams, for allowing me to worship god without fear. Your obedient paitrotic, servant. Hugs to you all.
One of the most ironic and amazing turns of fate in history is that Thomas Jefferson and John Adams both died on July 4, 1826.... exactly fifty years later, right to the day. That's almost as spine chilling as the background music heard here.
"My God, he's right. This is our path to the gallows, but there's no backing out now. If we don't hang together, we'll most assuredly hang separately 😆!"
One historic detail I wish they'd included about Stephen Hopkins - he had palsy at the time, and if you look at his signature it's the shakiest and most uneven of the bunch. But he supposedly told everyone present "My hand trembles, but my heart does not."
I love the somber tone of this scene. To us, this is the birth of our nation. A moment that would be celebrated for the next 300 or so years. But then, on July 4th 1776, no one knows what the future holds. For all they knew, they were signing their own death certificate. If they lost the war, and America remained a British colony, everyone in that room would meet again at the end of a noose. But there's no turning back now. Independence has been delcared. And one way or another, they are all going to fight and die for that Independence.
To any and to all who are watching this Happy Independence Day this July 4th 2023. And thank you to my founding fathers for the United States of America! Also to those who continue to fight and protect for our freedom, our rights and our independence. May God rest the souls of our founding fathers and for those who have fought and died for our country and continue to this day. Freedom is not free.
Adams's words to Franklin while they were debating the removal of the slavery section were "Franklin if we give in on this posterity will never forgive us and there will be trouble a 100 years hence". The authors said they didn't dare use that entire line because no one would believe they didn't make up the part about 100 years hence
All of British ( almost exclusively English ) descent - Anglo Saxon surnames and , contrary to this film , they all spoke with English accents which , at the time , prior to the industrial revolution and the formation of large cities in England was pretty much the accent that is employed by.Hagrid in the Harry Potter films .

100%, I do like the few actual songs in Hamilton like History Has its Eyes on You, but I feel like the overall presentation dilutes the history and takes the power away.
