This is such a very personal story to tell a crowd and letting it be known in social media. While listening, I felt the privilege and less lonely having known I am not the only one thinking about grief and death so much. Thanks for sharing this, @The Moth! 🙂💙
I've actually always admired/envied theater kids. I would never be able to act/sing in front of an audience. And that bond they have and being able to recognize other theater kids, making references/jokes that only other theater kids can understand. It's like a cool club that I wish I had the honor to join.
I unexpectedly lost one of my best friends in December last year. His description of everything being grey hit so hard that I started to cry all over again. I get to see Hamilton live next week. I’ll have a new appreciation & understanding behind his music after seeing this video when I go.
Thank you! I got a heart punch from Rent, too. Restaurant in Santa Fe is sung not only by the main characters. The main characters join the homeless people and they all sing it. I am ashamed to say that I had always assumed people on the street thought only of survival. Not until that very moment did I see unhoused people fully human with hopes and dreams of a better life. That realization has shaped my life since.
Literally I said "zip zap zop" without even thinking when he mentioned theatre games and I lost my mind when we said it at literally the exact same time lololol
I’ve said so many times that Lin-Manuel is my hero. This video explains why.
I started watching this bcs my brain said Lin-Manuel Miranda must have something to say and you ought to listen.
