      You performed and you were chosen and that's a fair way to get selected not based on racial biases . India had similar DEI concept but people who come through DEI could not handle academic pressures and drop out
      The sad part is both college and students were losers as students lost what ever the confidence they had

    I remember this story when it dropped many years ago. Basically, this guy was parading all over conservative news stations about how black students with lower academic stats were getting spots that rightfully belonged to their Asian and Caucasian counterparts. Fair point to argue but this guy was full of it. He bragged about having an average undergrad science GPA (3.2-3.4) and average MCAT but gained entry because he pretended to be black. What he was very quiet about is the fact that after he successfully gained entry he then flunked out of med school. He did not drop out because of some righteous high ground. He outright failed because he was not able to handle the medical school load.
    This was counterintuitive to the sob story he was giving to every news station that was willing to hear him out. He tried to connect that black students from lower socioeconomic status's that were getting boosted by affirmative action were somehow not qualified for the med school positions they obtained. However, what studies have shown is that most students who have benefited from AA in terms of medical school (in addition to Law school) acceptances have gone to complete their degrees and were successfully practicing in their fields.
    So this guy essentially proved that med school administrator's discrete selection of some students from lower SES's was in fact juste because when this fraud disguised his profile to mimic these students he could not succeed. He was not from a lower SES. He was brought up very wealthy with every academic recourse at his fingertips but still turned out mediocre. He basically had no excuse for his lack of academic achievements.
    Essentially, had this quacks deception played out resulting in him graduating medical school and becoming a practicing doctor, we would not know his face.

    Contrary to what many people say. This video is a great point to bring up. Racism and suppression of minorities have played a role in decreasing the life outcomes of these minorities. It is important to point out that by focusing on criteria like GPA and MCAT scores solely, we do not do justice to the admission process. There are other factors that determine outcome of medical students. Dr. Webb is right to point out this video. It shows clearly that there is a lot in America that is still not understood about race. Lower scores are not an indication of worse intellects; they are a reflection of privilege and class opportunités that have perpetuated in America since its foundations. This imposter’s actions should not in anyway hinder the hardworking millions of Black students who are chasing their life dreams.

    • @appollo1826
      @appollo1826 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      The problem with merit based it would be the old system again. You don't remove rich kids because rich kids have parents and the resources that supply the schools for the future. Most people are average and average can't get into Medical School without above money or time. Poorer kids with high merits will not be able to compete because they will have to work harder to get the same or grades. A merit base school is only useful to keep poorer kids with less resources out. This is the reason we have the inequality in the industry today. Premed students needs an understanding in economy 101 and so they look at these industry as a whole not just their closed minded bubble. We have so many useless class to get to medical and yet people don't understand the basic of the financial state.

    @emiliomartineziii2980 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

    I feel that ideally, admission perks should be based off diffculty of life experiences. Now obvously this means minorities should benefit the most since theres an obvious direct correlation between race and difficulty of life, but the few outlier whites/Asians who actually do go throught the same level of trials and tribulations as minorities should be given the same break. It's for this reason, that SOME asians and whites are justly angry at affirmative action since they have life as hard as a black person, but are assumed to have it easier, meaning they are expected to prove even more. On average though, I think affirmative action is fair, since the correlation between race and difficulty is just so strong

      There have never been Equality so this is the reason Diversity is a must. Asian minorities for the longest benefit from Diversity and now they are complaining about equality. Diversity suppose to give a few people a somewhat leg up to the competition and Asians (very few cultures of Asians) dominated and exploited this loophole, now all of sudden it doesn't benefit them let get rid of it. They didn't fight for it, or even bleed for it but some reason they think they should have a say after their group is on top, capital wise. Then again, ignorance is bliss.

    I'm a doctor that's been a hospitalist for the last ten years. When I was in residency, my good friend was a surgical resident. We ate lunch everyday together. He wanted to be a plastic surgeon. And he could be. He was the smartest person I knew. So I was like damn bro that's a tough program to get into and he said, " Dude, I'm black. I can get into any program I want." It was the first time I became aware of this. Good for him though.

  • @FlyingMonkeys69
    @FlyingMonkeys69 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Of course he did . The only people that don’t realize this is going on have their heads up their asses, or just ignorant.
    As a white guy I was not accepted to my preferred law school back in 1984, even though my GPA and LSAT scores were significantly higher than 2 of my black classmates that I hung out with and also studied with regularly. I also had twice as much voluntary community and social service hours than either . It was simple discrimination based on my color. It continues to go on to this day.
    They were appalled when we compared our admission and rejections letters, and both looked at each other like “how could this happen?” They are both attorneys now, and I went on to start my own successful business. We are still all friends to this day and they bring it up all the time at parties, etc.

    another BLACK STORY from Dr. Webb. If its not how i survive to be black, how i overcame racism, how i became a black doctor (like hes the only black spine surgeon.Theres another one on youtube who never talk about his black color) or day of my life of being a black doctor x 50 times videos on his profile. I dont know what this video is all about. Let me guess about Dr. Webb's next video, Its about BLACK! (100 percent, ill bet my life on it). Once he has family, next story will be how am i raising my BLACK KIDS.

    I wish that dr Webb would stay away from this kind of stuff. I get that you want to promote your people getting into higher fields of study and that’s great. But content like this video is just cheap, offputting, and odd for a medical professional to put out. I can see in the comments some others are feeling the same way as well. It’s a bit off brand for you. Idk…

      no, I'm afraid I have to disagree. we need more individuals in his field speaking out against nonsense like this. outrageous. This idiot/liar showed how ignorant and arrogant he was as even after lying to get into med school off of his mediocre scores he did not successfully complete med school.
