I used to watch Bob Hoover do things in his yellow P-51 and especially in his Shrike Commander that amazed even seasoned pilots. For Kermit to receive the Bob Hoover Award is truly indicative of achievement in aviation. Well done, Kermit!
Have chatted with him twice, while buying his books for my grandkids..what you see and hear is what you get..amazing guy..have chatted with Bob Hoover twice also..miss him!
About Fantasy of Flight, I've heard him say it before and I love the line, "I do it so everyone can enjoy my wealth." Plenty of people collect stuff. But they collect and keep it to themselves. I believe Kermit when he says sharing his collection, is half the thrill of owning it.
Such a well deserved award for a vibrant loving soul who has not only achieved his own dreams in this lifetime but expands beyond them to help and inspire others,a person who will go down in the annals of aviation history in his own right.
Out of all the speeches I have heard over the years by people from all kinds of professions, I can honestly say Kermit is the only one who lives it. I've never met the man but i love him dearly none the less.

I met Kermit while working the line at American Aviation at the Tamiami Airport. Was kind of surprised how he treated me and what a gentleman he was
