I am from new Zealand and spent 3 hours in Sequoia National Park and DEFINITELY want to return. It is a MUST DO-er. This was a very helpful video for my planninng. Thankks
If you are in shape (I am 60, but in good shape), you can do Alta Peak in far less than 9 hours. I did it in just over 5 hours and wasn't pushing too hard.
Now, if you want to see the TALLEST Giant Sequoias, I understand that the Redwood Mountain Grove is the best place. Many verge upon, and may surpass 320' tall. RMG is, I understand, the largest grove of GS in the world. There are spots in this grove, where the tress species composition of GS is 100% pure, covering enough acreage and offering vantage points, that tricks one into believing that the entire forests of the mountains are composed of nothing else, but GS. Of course, as with many Sequoia groves, there's a soothing under-story of Pacific Dogwood, lovely blooms of creamy green-white flowers in the Spring, and fiery red leaves in the Autumn.
