Hope most here see something not seen elsewhere where.. Most Sequioa do not have branches close the ground.. Over time frequent fires trim branches and due to the thick bark.. over 15 inches thick insulate the tree against ground fire.. In 1956 a fire consumed 8-10 sequioa due to ladder fuels.. White fir was over 100 years old as an understory.. The White fir were tall enough to give ladder fuels.. The happening was a screw up by folks in the national park Service.. The Sierra club bulletin in 1956 mentions the park service clearcut all the white fir understory below the remaining Sequioa. Future ladder fuels disappeared.. This relates to forest management elsewhere.. You cant preserve old growth with out forest management.. We see today in our national forest especially in California.. Where no logging has not occurred in 35 years.. Walk thru one.. dead trees are everywhere many on the ground.. Fires today due to huge fuel loading burn longer, burn hotter and are the biggest fires ever seen.. Soon all national forests will be black due to preservationist attitude.. Let’s change this political scene. Allow Forest management where fuel loading is reduced, healthy trees produce clean oxygen and air, Streams produce clean water for us and fish and wild life have a home.. The current liberal preservation path is a train wreak.. Hurry as forests are turning black everywhere..

Do the Marginal Walk near Perkins Cove and don't miss Barnacle Billy's restaurant (great food and great views from the patio); and Perkins Cove Candy (taffy, turtles, and chocolate pretzels is what we tried and loved).
