I used this video for reference. I did notice the two tabs that you mentioned but yanked them out with the mirror cover piece. I didn’t need to remove the whole door panel as shown saving me time and frustration. Mirror cover secured without the bottom two tabs but they are also available on Amazon for a couple bucks if I wanted to replace them.

How did you do it without removing the whole door panel? Sorry, not the best handyman out there lol

Honestly it is a lot easier to just take the door panel off, it gives you a lot more room to work with. If you really want to only take the mirror cover piece off, use a flat head to get behind mirror cover piece and work it a little bit to get it to pop back a little bit but the working space is going to frustrate you more so than just getting the whole panel off. The mirror cover is attached to the door frame so it isn't like the mirror cover will pop off by itself - it will give you access to the mirror nuts and wiring but will be limited movement as the rest of the door panel hasn't been popped off.

Worked for me too! I used my hands (I didn't have any plying tools) to take off the mirror cover, then once that popped off a bit I then pulled the door panel until the top corner popped off, giving me *just* enough room to take off the screws to the mirror. Thanks for you suggestion!

I kinda liked the 2 screws to mount..lower window to adjust...no one counts the pollution caused by junking cars that cant be fixed economically a dealer would gouge you 600 bucks to fo that..i bet thr mirror would cost 250

I am curious if these mirrors would work as a replacement for a 2004-6 GTO as well? They look nearly identical at the mounts and the trim profile looks very very similar although the glass is definitely a different form/mold. So I went ahead and bought a NOS from rockauto that was a 1 day deal and cheap(21 bucks) and a mirror alone for a GOAT is getting harder and harder to find except for junkyards(where are you on this Dorman?!?!), and then its color matching etc issues to be addressed, I started closely inspecting as many GM cars same era as the GTO(even though it is an orignal Holden VSP manufactured car out of Australia, there are a lot of things that are homogenized for these cars.) Anywho, long story short, anybody have any knowledge of what I am about to try out? Thanks in advance👍👍
(oh and yes I did check cross reference and GTO only crosses to GTO's, I am leary of that though for 2 reasons...first off, the GTO was originally only produced for Australian markets and even though its a GM/ Holden produced model, maybe they shared blueprints for certain parts but they never made it into the parts catalog... 2nd, I can clearly imagine an exec from Holden and GM butting heads over production of OEM parts and Holden fighting to retain patents and copyrights in Australia and resisting any attempts at sharing part specs with any manufacturer including GM and probably Dorman too hence the reason even the mirror glass is hard to find)
