Hyper ST pro is probably one of the best if not the best truggy ever produced. If you know and see how many cnc alum parts are on there you can easily understand that production costs was enormously high.
The hyper St pro is much stronger than a stock kraton. A pro is all nice cnc aluminium in the right places. The kraton has a bendy chassis, cheap shock towers, plastic hinge pin holders and chassis braces.
Hobao pro versions are the best. Have a hyper 8 pro my self. 10 times better than any other brand. Looking for a st pro again so my novarossi 28.8 can have a home. Had a st pro 12 years ago. Had a lot of truggys in the meantime. Mugen mbx7r, team associated rc8.t. lrp s8. Losi eight 3.0 they all cannot measure with the built quality. Not even to mention a traxshit or something rtr. In my opinion hobao is the best. He also has the spider gears in it. Top notch!!
It's a cool project but a Kraton is very good. Nice to see you doing the electric, no noise, no damage to the area, less annoyance of the general population means more RCs allowed in places.
Hyper ST Pro - great truck, love em, but dude not sure where you got those costs from... Bearing in mind this type of thing ie old / little used nitro, lends itself to a budget conversion (ok you could do a boutique job but that kinda defeats the object of the exercise), how you ended up with 250 quid for motor/esc/servo...lord only knows. You can get decent 42mm truggy cans for 25-30, decent 20kg servo for 15-20 and a quicrun 150a esc for 50-60, so you're talking 90-110, plus tray @ 15 and motor mount for 20/25, so circa 140 all in, plus the used truck. At 250 ish for a tough as nails ST Pro, reckon that's a no brainer.
I prefer electric it's less messy and not as problematic but I also like the gas cars grate fun to watch I just don't want to deal with all the tuning and whatnot with gas . Love your videos so keep doing what you do and I'll keep watching
Definitely worth it on a budget💪💪,but you should still get a kraton😊actually that's probably tougher than a stock typhon right now, kraton would be the longer wheel base truggy
@@RCmaxxUK yeah the body is ugly. But I'm sure alot of other ones fit. What I can remember the blender valves always would tear( the rubber sealing underneath the shock cap). But that's a simple upgrade. Alot of truggy shocks available When I look at the built quality. Optional spider diffs. I am amazed they are not more populair. You just cannot find anything bad on that car. Its heavy. So is a arrma. My lst 2 is also heavy. But breaks all the time. The st pro drives much better. You can get a longer chassis if you like. There is the F that's longer in front. R In rear and the F R front and rear. Than you have a great long base to built a Good mt that doesn't break or will have a bend chassis. Or diff problems.
Those rear shocks are soggy. A big problem for the ST Pro. I ended up buying red kyosho springs for Hong nor big bores. Fitted them to spare front shocks put the on the rear with a connector to bridge the gap to the shocks and finally I have decent rebound.
Hobao stuff is really under-rated and under-appreciated; they are pretty touch, apart from the 6061 chassis plates, drive REALLY well and are very reasonably priced overall. You can get a Hyper VSE 6s for 400€, while a Typhon is 520; or a Hyper VS 30 Nitro for 370. Their own Nitro engines are also amazing, especially for the price. Sadly the Hyper ST Pro isn't officially sold in Germany for some reason; you can get it via non-official importers for 370€ but I am worried about spare parts. IMHO I would keep it Nitro, for electric I still got my Kraton I put WAY too much money into. xD
Mad manc and family RC fun cheers mate. If you like building/ experimenting then doing your own spec conversion could well be worth it..... equally though there are some great rtrs out there...👍
@@muggymaniac super fun car, they have a large amount of parts still available for them from Taiwan. Since ofna went under someone needs to pick up on the design and re produce
I did a conversion on my hobao mt and it's insane 6s animal but keep breaking the drive pins in the hubs need to order some new hubs with better pins but it's a lot of fun and people don't complain about the noise lol 😂 I still have nitro bits for it so pretty easy to change it back if I want and do now an agin
Electric has so much versatility versus on heavy powerful petrol power. I guess user power control restraint is the only issue with the instant electronic power, driveline issues. Future RC drivers go with electric. We have a LiPo battery now. It’s the same power used in the phone you keep in your pocket.
Thats if that lipo dont blow up or burn down your house fact! More incedents with lipo melt downs in all my 35 years of any battery issues combined! But if you like risk! Than reward than eword is 4 you! But eword is no challenge and 0 talent! Noyhing smells, sounds or feels like 1/8 nitro and 1/5 gas electric is for lazy unskilled children!💪💥💨😎
muggy maniac have fun constantly tuning your motor! I’ll be flying high at dirt BMX tracks with my X-Maxx doing 40ft (14m) jumps from big ramps and flipping in complete control! Can your fat gas guzzler do that? I like to bash, not tune
Sons Rc 👍👍nice. I’m thinking of putting this 6s setup into my mugen eco. That’s already rapid on 4s with the 2650kv castle. Just to experiment. These 1/8 e cars r mad quick f0r sure!
Its not worth doing at all! But we do it because its the hobby we're into. Half the buzz is fixing making things fit and work. I bought the hyper sste v3 roller and it stands me at about £450? But! Its got a max6 runs 6-8s on truggy wheels Its way faster than my mates v3 kraton out the box and probably just as durable or nearly? I'm glad I did it but I could have bought the new v4 kraton with the money :(
Great little electric car but it coats almost the same as a new krayton!! 🤣 Ifyou could do all the upgrades for under 200 quid then yes! And just wanna say electric is defo the way forward!!!
Ni ck hi mate. Yeah tried the Kraton v4. Vids on the Chanel. I liked it but sold it on. Same with this st pro actually. Fun car and strong enough but just did not use it enough to keep. I’m on the lookout for a replacement. I think that might likely end up being a race kit build , tekno or mugen maybe. Great rig though for the £👍👍

A great honest review, no BS. Thankz mate. It's good to see folk experimenting.
For what it owes you, that's a great value basher.

ArielsSmartyPants thanks mate. Yes now the v4 Kraton is out I might just “have” to finally try an arrma!
Good to hear you like electric power too. I have a kraton with a few basic upgrades and having a blast with it.

Good vid and question.
I answer that by saying, currently I am converting a Mugen MBX5T to electric.
Pretty sure for the money I'm going to be happy.
