Not much in attack but England defend well and were better tactically and organisationally. Might have been a different game and result if Canada hadn’t knocked on so much. Having said that, the pressure England put them under probably had something to do with Canada’s mistakes. You have to say that both teams gave all in a tight tussle.
2:26 Ok, can someone either explain or correct me here. I don't see how that was a yellow card. The English tackler had fallen off the tackle, meaning the Canadian ball carrier was not held and fair game. No ruck had been formed so what was Kildunne sent to the bin for?
Most of us are still trying to work out why Ellie Kildunne was yellow carded. It wasn't even a penalty. A tackle, no ruck, no offside line. Mistake by the ref. Why didn't the TMO tell her.
The 2 top ranked teams always had the possibility of being a superb expansive game or one where they cancelled each other out. The super-sized English pack were the difference. Who was the English No 12? I have never seen such a pedestrian paced inside centre. Would be better as a prop.

However, you overlook the simple fact that ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING that later transpired in the game would ALSO have been changed irrevokably as a result. @Turrican60 And if the sun and moon were farther away from the earth, absolutely everything would have changed irrevocably, and for all you know, your timeline for gobbledegook would become a guaranteed formality.
I stayed up to watch a really good contest. It is the measure of a great team that they can absorb so much pressure and go on to win. I always feel that the Red Roses always have the ability to conjure something out of nothing. Canada rattled them as no other team has managed to achieve for some time so well played. Canada outplayed England in ruck turn over so let's see Georgia Brock, the best English jackeler in the PWR given more game time. Why does Mo Hunt persist in using the box kick? It just hands possession to the opposition. I think that the time has come for John Mitchell, before the World Cup, to look at the senior members of his squad and look seriously at their replacements. Marley Packer, Emily Scarrett and Mo Hunt, for example, should not now be first choice, yes they have been wonderful servants to English rugby but he needs to be blooding Phoebe Murray, Emma Sing, Georgia Brock etc. etc. etc.
Please don't put the result in the title. It ruins the excitement, and destroys anticipation.. Even turning the title into a question is better than this, Eg. _"Can England become back-to-back CHAMPIONS?"_ or _"Can Canada stop England becoming back-to-back CHAMPIONS?"_ You'd done some better titles recently, which had some suspense, so this is a disappointing step backwards. Best Wishes, Rugby Fans. ☮
England had a player less for 20mins of the second half and ultimately this cost them a bit. They lost the last World Cup Final by being one down for most of the game and there was a slight bit of Deja Vu here.. This time one yellow card was just stupid and the other was debateable. Aitchison had a very good defensive game but unfortunately, as with the last game, gave some pretty poor and delayed passes, which enabled Canada to close down the recipient and nullified the threat from the Roses backs and I think this is why the English centres appeared to some to be a bit sluggish. On what I've seen over the last few weeks I hope the form of a couple of players improves for next year or the coaches at least choose players that are in form. Felt sorry for Harrison. Based on the game that she did start she deserved a lot more time on the pitch than she got in the last two.
I am not convinced by Aitchison at 10. There are others, already in the 23, who could do better. At least Helena Rowland is now doing the goal-kicking, which made a huge difference last night as we led 7-5 and 14-12 because of her. With Holly A, we would have been 5-5 and 10-14.
@@andysmith4158 We have short memories. During the last 6 nations and the WXV Holly was immaculate and I don't think she missed a kick in the latter. She is OK. I remain unconvinced that Zoe is that much better. Helena Rowland and Megan Jones (when she is fit) would be my preferences for 10. If you need a consistent place kicker then look no further than Emma Sing, the best English number 15. For all the Ellie Kildunne fans, she is not good enough defensively to be first choice 15 but at least she passes the ball now.
So the kildunne yellow should have been a yellow for 6 canada not releasing Kildunne is on her feet and behind as per normal great game let down by very poor reffing, Canada played well but realistically where held to 0. Without two aweful bits of reffing the "deliberate knock on" could easily have been viewed as a great play at the ball and just a canada scrum. games this wxv1 8/10 reffing across all games 1/10 truely aweful, NZ got some stinkers as well.
Ref was fine, both yellows were definitely yellows, England back 3 were strangely ineffective, Kildunne i think had her worst game for England that i can remember, forwards won that.
Canada was in the losing side of weight and size. The British were simply enormous. They were able to make stand after stand when the Canadians were in the 22 looking for the tries. The Canadians looked leaner and fitter but the British employed pure weight.
Apart from getting.British and English mixed up, I think you are confusing size with athleticism. The Canadians were definately not fitter. The English are full-time and serious question would need to be asked if they could not do a full 80 minutes.
I suspect the Roses were the lighter pack. Weights weren't given in this game. In the last world cup pack weight were given, The Roses had the lighter pack in all 6 gas they played. The white kit just makes them look bigger.
Don't give card's to player's for having arm's, her arm was not extended, and it was not a attempt to intercept, because there was no movement of her arm from the time the ball left the opponent and struck her hand, not deliberate or intentional and a head's up her arm's were up to make a tackle a no arm's tackle is a offence. Tired of referee's picking the offence based not on fact's but their own whim's.
England doing their best to throw away another major final by giving away silly penalties/sin bins. Is it a lack of discipline, not understanding the rules or just deliberate shithousery? Whatever it is it needs to stop.
"Sick and tired of people not understanding the rules or just deliberate shithousery?" Whatever. It is it needs to stop as in rugby there are NO rules. Just laws of the game.
There has been a raft of rule changes recently, and as most action's in Rugby are muscle memory and reflex, it's not surprising that rules are broken, player's get used to playing in certain way's, it's hard to alter your way of playing, some are better at adapting than other's. Again the refereeing level's of international rugby is at another level, to the refereeing these girl's get at club level, bad habit's are formed because they get away with it, and they can slip into bad habit's. All of this happen's in fraction's of a second, the thought process is not like a chess match, you cannot think your next move through.
@@thomasmain5986 Although deliberate knock ons have never been allowed at any level of the sport (just the punishment has changed slightly over the years) flapping at a ball you know you have no chance in hell of catching is by no means "muscle memory", it's downright poor judgement.
@@nickmaclachlan5178 Well I get your point, but we all have arm's, a over extended single arm proves intent, but a English player was sent off for ten minutes with arm's that were not extended, in fact they had not moved from the time the player passing, threw the ball to the point of contact with the player's hand. We often exchange intent for reflex or the picture frame fit's.

Why does Mo Hunt persist in using the box kick? It just hands possession to the opposition.
I think that the time has come for John Mitchell, before the World Cup, to look at the senior members of his squad and look seriously at their replacements. Marley Packer, Emily Scarrett and Mo Hunt, for example, should not now be first choice, yes they have been wonderful servants to English rugby but he needs to be blooding Phoebe Murray, Emma Sing, Georgia Brock etc. etc. etc.
🏴
The ref tried her best to help Canada win bless her, just wasn't enough though.

Canada, where was your crowd? An absolute disgrace for such an important sporting event. How many have you staged this year?
Canada rugby in the women’s is next level both sevens and 15s. If they were all pro like England, they’d be world champs by now.
There all pros for there clubs though mostly in England and france
Not all the Red Roses have contracts.
Unfortunately she came from an offside position
Ref was fine, both yellows were definitely yellows, England back 3 were strangely ineffective, Kildunne i think had her worst game for England that i can remember, forwards won that.
@@rogermayes There was no ruck, it was a tackle therefore no offside line.
Why write the outcome in the title? Clueless.
Because it’s their channel
Canada was in the losing side of weight and size. The British were simply enormous. They were able to make stand after stand when the Canadians were in the 22 looking for the tries. The Canadians looked leaner and fitter but the British employed pure weight.
*English. It's an important distinction.
@@okbutthenagain.9402 Thanks for the pedantry....... rules/laws...... you know exactly what I meant.
That was an incredibly poor standard game.
Ref made it that way, ENgland were so much better than Canada in this the Ref ket canada in it rather than the blow out it should have been
Oh dear and you have two likes so far, well done !
In front of a sold out crowd 😂😅🎉
Sports day,for the ladies
Worst performance by England in a long time. Terrible skill execution, passes constantly to head or behind, lack of breakdown skill, arrogantly trying to play outside without first winning the right to do so. Looked like a bunch of novices playing together for the first time. Woeful. Canada deserved to win. And I'm English.
Is it possible Canada's pressure played some part in this?
Why can’t anyone tell the truth about Women’s sports 👍It is CRAP,my 3 year old and his mates could beat any 20 year old girl teams looking at themselves 👍😊
Never quite made the team, eh ?
Why bother watching it then? Just crawl back under the sofa, eat your pizza, drink your coca cola and play your video games and then you might be a happier person.
Misogyny rules OK?
@@thomasmain5986 I was actually being sarcastic, the comment was aimed at the originator of this thread. I am a Gloucester Hartpury fan and watch them and the Red Roses live regularly.
@@stevemathews9535 🤔my bad my comment was also directed at the thread starter, a troll I am sure.
