Cheers folks ☺️ I did it in 57:57 according to my app, official times aren't out yet. Dead happy with that to say I've only been running since June. Onto the half marathon on May 😁
Wow, this video just absolutely speaks to me. I started running over a year and a half ago. Completed my first half and full marathons this past summer, along with plenty of 5k and 10k races in between. This past Friday I gave my resignation to a job of 17 years, and will soon be starting a new and and more beneficial career. Not to mention I'm healthier, happier, and more motivated and confident than I've ever been. Running has changed my life. Keep up the great work friends 👍
Thanks Ben, the spine work and resilience is really interesting. I suffer from poor mental health and have been running for a year now. The challenges I've pushed myself through at times were so awful that other things in my normal daily life didn't seem as scary anymore. I'm now more confident and willing to try and fail because of running
One of our routines on a Sunday morning is to watch you and Mary and other running/ exercise utubers (Mark Lewis 😉) before our long run🏃🏽 🏃♀️ always keeps us in the zone while getting ready. Ps Brilliant New York from both of you 🥇
Your channel is my favorite running channel. I find your advice and suggestions are really encouraging and motivating. I like The Running Channel, too, but yours always has RUNNING or something that is watchable in it…not just sitting behind a microphone and talking. I would love to find more like yours because I’ve watched all your videos and need more!
I challenged myself to do a half marathon today. There was an urban trail and beautiful weather so I attached a longer cooldown to get that half-marathon badge😂
Great video! Another thing to consider is that with 80:20, the 80 percent doesn't have to be all running. I use easy swimming to contribute to my 80 percent as I usually only run 3 times a week and i like one of those to be speed or hill reps. As far as gear is concerned, i think my HR monitor is the best thing i invested in (other than my watch).
Just done my second half marathon this one was in New plymouth, Taranaki Thank you so much Mary and Ben I watch your videos everyday Mlaynee Rutland from New Zealand
This is all such great advice and so well articulated! I am still at an early stage of running and I aspire to get better at all this stuff. Your content is inspiring! This phrase may help some people remember the 6 advice topics: "Mental strength and spine, wearing heart and lungs in sessions."
Thanks for this video, you're channel is just a wealth of information for a new runner like myself. My biggest struggle has definitely been the shoes. I've been going to those special running shoe stores to fit them out, but the problem I've been having is that it's first when I've been running for 10-15km that I know if they will work for me. So, I've been buying a lot of shoes lately, it's been a struggle, and still not happy with what I've got. I wonder if many people go through this too when they start running, then find the brands that works for them? (just got home from a 15k blister run on my big toe 😉)
Can you make a video for a absolute beginner who is over weight and how he can add running into his lifestyle and inculcate habit of running and then go for marathons 5km, 10km, 21km and so on As a over weight guy how to approach training how much slow to go for etc
Liked your short videos on your aerobic paces, how did yous calculate these? Ive been using MAF but feel this is lower than zone 2. Considering a lactate test
Hi guys.Loving your channel.Just quick question about long easy runs. Its easy to control your zones if you’re running flat but unfortunately most of my routes involve hills😅.What do you do when you hit a hill?as I need to almost walk to keep my HR down.
I singed up for a half marathon trail run but there is some road. I am looking at getting a new pair of shoes for this event. im wondering what i should be looking for in a shoe, also what shoes people prefer
Guys, if you, like me, don't like gyms, I recommend gym rings or calisthenics for building general strength. They build a hard core core for little or even no money.
If you've killed the distance, go for the elevation! Or a backyard format, or an extreme weather race... with ultras, there's always a new way to challenge yourself!
Watching this in the car park waiting to start my first organised 10km and I'm nervous about it... building my spine 😁
Good luck and just think if it’s your first it’s a guaranteed PB 😅
@@phildoonan7148have to agree with you on that one 😂
You’re going to have a great time, Jon! Let us know how it goes 👍🏻
Good luck!! Please let us know how it went

I'm off for my Sunday long run, aerobic base, in a storm 😀
Ha ha awesome! Create that spine

HR monitors, i'm using an arm one, polar sense or something like that, advantages of a chest belt without a chest belt.
Greetings from Uganda, East Africa. Liked ur running environment it's clean!!
Thanks for the inspiration! It was just what I needed today to encourage me to get out for a rainy, cold 10k.

what an awesome channel :D very nice motivational videos
Loved watching this whilst on my way to a Charity Run at Central Park NYC! Thanks you two. 💜
That video took a bit of planning. Nicely done. It was enjoyable to watch.

Awesome video! Thanks for inspiring us all and sharing your knowledge.

Then I walk
Im struggling to include strength training in my routine. What would be easy routines to do at home?

Is it possible to do all these different types of runs without having to buy a heart rate monitor?
building spine, what do you do after a 360km ultra?
how about a 660km ultra! 😱
I would still rather do that than a marathon!!
If you've killed the distance, go for the elevation! Or a backyard format, or an extreme weather race... with ultras, there's always a new way to challenge yourself!
You stopped running because of rain?! Weak. Get back out there!
Never stops raining here in Wales UK! 😂
Look at how rich I am in my huge house.
