My parents bought a Freelander for my younger brother when he turned 16. Sincerely, it never left the driveway.
I have had Land Rovers since 1986, all sorts, rangies, discos, series ones, series threes, Defenders, and also Freelanders, on my third now, always loved them (best with the BMW Td4 engine), As my first one was brand new, i was invited to go to the Land Rover testing grounds, using one of theirs i took it off road all over the place, the instructor who i knew, got me to go on the advanced route, when i completed the route, he told me that i had just done the Range Rover route...the little Freelander did it no problem. Current fleet i have are: Mk 1 V8 Discovery, Range Rover Classic LSE and a Freelander! Oh and several Audis...!

These FL or LR2 are extremely capable for its class, you should definitely take it on a off road event/trip! Slap some all terrains tires and go wheeling!

However in the uk here are a lot of them on the road still - people seem to keep them alive

I have a TD4 SE (the *only* decent engine they ever put in it) and it's doing me well. The secret is to have a TD4 and do regular maintainence, then they're fine.
Didn’t pay much interest to these until I was given one last January. Really surprised me how nice they are too drive. Decent off road two if you mind the ground clearance.
I love it! My friend owns one. First owner, really no issues.

Interesting the previous owners had the $$$ and enthusiasm to maintain and store it all this time. You don't see them around anymore. You may want to start a new Freelander owners club. 😂

This is the top spec FL1. The best buy plus the only engine that is the BMW 2.0 116BHP. Also make sure the IRD and VCU have been maintained. All of this very important mechanical stuff should be covered when talking about this particular car.
a rare silver (2 dr) 2005 model approx 1hr drive from my house- sat under carport for years - beautiful exterior- had transmission issue then head gasket blew…. had many other issues going on with it when it was drivable …. seems like it woulda been a great deal for ya 🤷🏻♂️

later rover kv6 engines had no major issues , i had an mg zs 180 with the same engine the main issue is the belts being changed all 3 of them
also late kv6 engines had no head gasket issues

Hey boss! Do you need a dealer license in your state to buy from auctions? Also do they get clean or salvage title when registered? Here in CA if you buy without dealer license you get a salvage title even the car is not crashed. Thank you!

I love Land Rover . This video just shows how people want the car but can’t afford the regular services. Americans don’t seem to like Land Rover for some perverse reason they wrongly think Jeep is a better make ! Go figure .
