Quick tip: if what you wanted to do was only to measure the RPM of your motor, you could have used a guitar tuner app on your mobile phone to get the audio frequency (in Hz) the motor is producing, and the actual RPM will generally be RPM=freq*30.
FYI the purpose of a dyno is not strictly to measure RPM as you mentioned. Its purpose is really to measure the torque and power of your motor, and you missed this part on your dyno. You actually have to play with the second knob labeled "Load Adjust" to put some load on your motor (with the black motor on the left) and see how much power it's producing. I would really love to see a video of you testing this! :)
I do still have it, but I’m not really all that interested in selling it. They’re not worth a ton of money and it’s worth more to me in cool factor. 😂 Sorry.
This was a Vantage Engineering Digi-Dyno, not sure of the model. I have since sold it to someone else. I know that Tekin made a good one back in the day. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could find one on ebay.
