Yeah. I like it - Plus you have the bed option in case you get really tired during a build. Everyone knows fatigue - leads to loose and/or sloppy wraps.
This setup is the DC777 made by Flex Coat which you can buy from various retailers such as GetBitOutdoors.com or others. The full setup now retails around $620 but if you wanted just the board, you can probably find it at retailers or at flexcoat.com as the DC777 board. The board itself is probably in the $100-150 range. Let me know if you have any more questions!
@Tommy-Rust Thank you so much. Will purchase this.i would like to build from scratch the old Fenwick 1270 c pacific stik royal rod 7 feet long spinner. What blank would beabout the same action of thus rod I'd you know. I wantvto build it 8 feet long though.
No problem! I unfortunately do not have experience or knowledge with any of the Fenwick rods. Perhaps you could give GetBitOutdoors a call to see if they’d be able to help you and hook you up with the right blank.
Thank you for posting this video. I am going to try the rod wrapping hobby and the Flex Coat DC777 may likely be the wrapper I go with. It seems to be well thought out and of high quality. If I make this purchase will I also need a rod dryer or will I be able to use the DC777 for drying? Thanks,
Thanks for watching! Glad I could help. The slowest the motor can go is about 40 rpm. I keep my rods on the machine when I’m done finishing and just slow it down. You don’t need a dryer unless you don’t want the rod spinning at 40rpm for a while. You can buy a dryer and just switch the rod over to it, that way you can also make another rod if one is drying. As I said, I just keep it on the DC777 and dry it with no problems. Let me know if you have any more questions, or if anything isn’t clear. Thanks!
Thx for watching! I didn’t look into the alps wrappers but I really love the flex coat’s versatility of being a 2 In 1 (finisher and power wrapper in 1 whole machine). let me know if you have anymore questions!
2 years later, jave ypu changed your approach? For instance, drying slower 6-9 rpm? I hated the chuck on the FC power wrap. I much prefer the CRB gen-2 and Alps.
I still do everything pretty much the same. However I have changed to doing three thin coats of finish as I believe it gets the best results (in my opinion). I still dry at the slowest setting that the DC777 has which I think is around 40rpm. I haven’t found any issues with that. The chuck does give me problems such as wobbling here and there but that isn’t too big of a concern to me. I like the DC777. It’s the only power wrapper and/or power finisher I have had and I don’t feel the need to change.
Thanks for watching! The slotted board came screwed onto the back wood wall when it arrived, then I had to screw the bottom wood panel and the back wood wall together to make the “L” shaped stand that everything goes on. Let me know if you have any more questions!
Couldn't agree more. Keep on building
I am convinced this is the best channel bon youtube!!

Haha! It’s the joy of not having a dedicated rod building work shop.
Good job bro
Thank you

What made you choose flex coat wrapper over say a alps wrapper,I am not sure which one to buy.

Question the slotted board for the rollers - is it free-standing or do you have to screw it into the wall or attach it somehow?

What Epoxy Resin Can I Use For Splicing?
Thanks for watching!
I’m sorry but I’m not sure what splicing is and don’t know what the best resin would be to use…

Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed.
Awesome work bro! Can u make me one?
Thanks! I’m not quite making rods for other people besides local friends and family, but I would love to do more helpful videos until then!
