Am very happy for you enjoying your lovely cottsge, Sean. The narrow planting strip along the wall opposite your windows - it's to die for! Also, you have a very good eye for interiors and innate taste. Very happy for you 🤛🏆

It’s not a string of pearls it’s a string of hearts, it will need more light than it will get on top of the cabinet and won’t do well there. They really need to be near a window to flourish. Glad your eye is okay and hope your stomach gets better very soon🙏🏻

Reminds me of what my late nanny loo loo used to say, "It ain't all jam"! Glad your feeling better Sean. Yes i have had times when I've had literally a pound to last me for two days food. I brought a 28p packed of spaghetti, two tins of Aldi chopped tomatoes 🍅 and a loose onion. Actually made a good few dinners although it was strange having spaghetti for breakfast too lol 😆

Hi Sean glad to see you back, I hope you start feeling better soon, don't want to worry you but I'm recovering from covid, which I had three weeks ago now, and it started just the same as what you have experienced, blinding headache, sick feeling, aches and pains, but I also felt extremely dizzy, and woozy, it knocked me out that week, lost my sense of taste and smell, which are just starting slowly to come back, but I still feel tired, but maybe the heat has gotten to you, it can really affect you, we are not really used to it are we, love your houseplants, look after yourself xx

Houseplants are a great idea! You might find some nice vintage pots to put the last two in at Too Good to Waste. Like you, I’ve killed a few in my time but recently got into the habit of regular watering. I sometimes have to change their location to give them the preferred light situation.

String of hearts is what I call your new plant. We had one in our bathroom when I was a child. It gets little small. pinkish candle-shaped flowers. I have quite a large one and a few babies as they are easy to propagate from the main plant.

    Hi Sean
Sorry to hear that you have been a ‘sick chick’ this week. I think the start was your eye problem then it went on from there. I hope you are on the mend now, but please try and pace yourself as it could be that you are over doing things and getting a bit run down. The dahlias are gorgeous and I love the new houseplants. Take care my friend. 👵 x

Glad youre feeling better. I love your channel but as I've been unwell I've not watched TV for a while so I've spent this morning having a Sean catch up! Really missed seeing you ❤ I found a plant like the palm you have among the xmas decorations in the attic of the care home where I work - it had been in the dark with no water for 12 months, I took it home and its now growing beautifully. I think its a palour palm, I call it my miracle plant ! ❤

Good morning Sean, hope you are feeling better. Those sure were some nice plants that came in the post. You could start the String of series of plants. You have the string of hearts i believe. I started with string of pearls( they look more like string of green peas to me!) I also have the string of dolphins that actually look like little jumping dolphins! I water everything on Saturday. I set my phone so I remember. Dry toast is good for the 1st food after having a tummy problem, something didn't agree with you to bloat you. I cook from scratch also but I do have my emergency canned goods. 3 cans chicken noodle, 1 can tomato, and 1 can of veggy soups. A couple packages of instant potatoes, they work wonders for a sour tummy and they only take a couple minutes to make when you don't feel well enough to cook. Take care and don't over do it.❤

Lovely plants and hope they stay that way! I do great with outdoor plants and vegs but not so with houseplants. My plant/cat story--- spotted a ficus bonsai in rough shape very cheep so I took a chance and brought it home. To my great surprise it flourished on a table in front of a north window for mabe 4 years. Until Vanessa. I cat sat my daughters black cat for a few weeks. I woke up to half the leaves chewed off! Moved the bonsai to the top of a bookcase and made a spot for Vanessa to lay on the table. My plant was safe to recover or so I thought but only for 3-4 days. Woke again to the rest of the leaves chewed off, branches broken and a hole chewed in the trunk. Destroyed. Vanessa must have stayed awake nights plotting and planning until mission accomplished. Vanessa will not allow my daughter to have any plants real or fake to this day. Vanessa is a sweetie otherwise.

    Hi Sean,
Loved your video as I do love house plants. Your new little plant is String of hearts aka rosary vine. They do like some sunshine. They grow very long. I wrap the vines themselves around the top of the planter to make it full and then let drape over the sides. When happy they will give you lantern like flowers. One of my favorite houseplants I own. Maybe put a hook in bathroom window it would look beautiful there.
Hope you get to feeling better my friend. Enjoy your new indoor garden🌺🌸🌺

Sounds like you had a migraine. Its neurological so affects all parts of your body. Its a common symptom of ME/CFS that’s usually not referred to. In ME/cfs its as if your body thermostat balance is damaged. I call it my broken internal thermostat. Your body doesn't regulate as normal, to changes of temperature. You become more sensitive. I overheat and prefer cold weather....but then have to beware of getting hyperthermia as it feels comfortable! Triggers can be weather changes, going too long without food….all sorts of things. I keep real ginger biscuits to hand when I get a migraine like that. Ginger tea infusion, is also good. Love the plants. Your home is becoming yours. Wonderful

    • @sueparsons6919
      @sueparsons6919 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

I think this hot weather caused you too feel unwell. The headache was most probably a migraine, due to the hot weather. I suffer with migraines I have to take pills everyday prescription from Dr. Like you I prefer the cooler days, also migraines can be because of not eating at regular times. Need to use your slow cooker then, throw some chicken and veg put it on low heating. It's there if you need it. Also I always keep chicken soup as a back up, was told by a Dr it is good for you. All use the broth of boiled chicken. Love your indoor plants, you can't have lilies as they are poisonous for cats. I have 2 cats never have lilies in the house or garden. My favourite house plants are African Violets. Love them. That plant that opens and closes is unusual. Sean your home is getting very cosy. Hope you are feeling so much better now.

Hi Sean... the plant you called ' string of pearls" is actually " string- of- hearts/ rosary plant..(ceropegia woodii)(!)..and is best as a hanging plant ( hence hook on pot!). One of mine has grown more than 4' long so far this year!
It took me over an hour t carefully unfold mine when I bought it lol! (N can propigate new plants from most bits that have fallen of! )
I have managed to get my " string- of- pearls"( senec herreianus ?) to flower this year.....they look like little cotton/fluff balls on the very end of long stems!...
The three biggest considerations f house plants are
    1)correct levels of light
    2)correct watering.....less is more!
3)quite a few are very sensative to draughts.....n you get a bit of a 'delayed reaction' so by time you realise could be a bit late! .....plus
4)quite a few indoor plants do not do well with tap water (chlorine/ flouride etc)....so best t use rain water/ mineral water - at room temperature!
I have a lot of indoor plants (not that you guessed,lol!)....over a dozen hanging ones in main living room alone..plus kitchen/ bathroom n bedroom, n hallways!
Easiest to care for are spider plants, jade plants ,mother- ln laws tongue/ snake plants.. n other succulents...n vines....they let you get away with a few mistakes n respond well to being rescued!
How you group them together can also be a great help!
My " indoor gardening" gives me as much pleasure as the outdoor garden....n you can get as lightly or deeply 'into' the details of it as you want to.
The only thing i have t be careful about....is where i move plants to in winter- time....because of effects of central heating(or not)and open fire.....and seasonal light and temperature changes!
Apart from the joy of " being surrounded by living things" the plants (if have enough) make a real difference to ' clean air/ environment'in house!
I use large cup hooks ( with long enough screw part) straight through ceilings into joists....and have used 8' garden bamboo canes suspended in the hooks...to create displays n free up space!
Another plant, relatively easy t care for which " shuts" it's leaves is the " prayer plant"(maranta) ....it has nicely coloured/ patterned leaves...and produces lots of little flowers in the summer!
Sorry Sean....just 'got in the zone' f a moment! Lol!
But so good to see you trying new things! I hope you get the 'indoor gardening bug' too lol! .....though how you will fit it in with everything else beats me! 😊

Oh my, you saying about the slice of toast & visualizing roast pork etc, reminds me of my Nan saying about the great depression & how they would open Mrs Beeton's cook book at a randon page, playout making it all, and eating it. Then eat bread and dripping or whatever they had.
The poorest I've been I could only eat a meal on days with U , (so TUesday, ThUrsday, SatUrday & SUnday. The meal was usually discounted veg in the slow cooker & if I was lucky some meat I traded for an odd job, aside of my main job 40hrs & the 3 other jobs I was also doing. If things got worse it would have been days without a U, then days with R - keeps the days you eat spaced out. Thankfully it never got beyond days with a U. Although it went on for over 18months. Breakfast was 25g porridge with water & lunch an apple. I can't eat gluten.
If I had to do that now, I'd include sardines, tuna.& eggs. I try to grow some fruit & veg now. I didn't know much about nutrition.

Hi Sean, wonderful plants - and wow they were really well packaged and such good quality too!
To my mind it sounds like you had mild food poisoning - salad can do it if it isn't washed properly or stored properly and in hot weather too...Bloating can be a sign of IBS but unless you have suffered with that in that past I think more likely food poisoning. Glad you're on the mend though but get well soon and with your eye!
We still haven't had any rain here in Norfolk, a storm was forecast a couple of days ago but never transpired! Was v hot here yesterday and will be again Mon and Tues... The waterbutts are getting low so we could do with some rain for sure!
    Take care.

Hello Sean 😊 I really enjoyed seeing your new houseplants! I used to always kill off all houseplants until I learned that you have to do what each individual plant wants, and not what you want to do with them, and natural light is key. I would worry that your bathroom plant may not get enough light on top of that bathroom unit. Anyway good luck and please keep us updated on how your houseplants get on 😊

Your indoor plant expansion/explosion reminds me of the Flanders and Swan's "Design For Living" (We're terribly house and garden ......). You are far to young to remember them but they were very popular at one time - even here in the former colonies.

    Hi Sean,
Spider plants and snake plants improve air quality and recommended in your sleeping area. NASA scientists found this out. I worked in a garden center and although I love outdoor gardening, I have become found of houseplants too. Bela with one L is a man’s name in one of the Baltic countries, I believe. Famous musician with that name. Hope you are feeling better.

i hope you are feeling better. Yes, it is a good idea to have a few cans of something in the cupboard for when you're not feeling up to cooking. Always tins of soup, brown beans, even fruit. A loaf of bread in the freezer. Lemons should always be around. Hot lemon and honey, some cheese and crackers, will settle a tummy and help you sleep.
The thing about house plants is to be sure you are meeting their light and water requirements. Some like the shadowy corners others need lots of sun. enjoy!

So sorry to hear you’ve been unwell Sean. I’m wondering (silly) as it may sound… could it have been an ingredient in the ice cream that didn’t agree with you? Unfortunately, like the bread, I wonder what they are putting in the food.
Or the milk in the tea could have been on the turn. Either way I’m glad to see you are feeling slightly better.
The house plants are so pretty I think you’ll be fine with them, after all you are very green fingered.
Still piping hot over here while visiting our son in Canada. Really hoping it starts to cool soon. Thank you for a lovely vlog have a super lovely and relaxing weekend.

    Good morning Sean
Good idea trailing the plant over the cupboard, just imagine being half asleep in the night and going to the toilet and the plant touches your head or back 😳 😂 sorry to hear you've not been well, sounds as if you were right that you and heat dont mix.The eye looks a lot better.glad that your living circumstances are better now than having one slice of toast for 2 days 😢 Take care Sean 💜

With house plants you have to find out how much water they like rule of thumb water every 5 days but it's crucial to make sure they get enough sun or filtered son you have to see which plants you buy and what they like when you have an upset stomach there's something called spirits of peppermint it really helps for nausea😊

The plant in your bathroom is a string of hearts, string of pearls look more like peas :) they need a lot of sun, so not sure where you have it is the best place, I have mine hanging in a south facing window, if too long, just cut them and stick back in the soil and your plant will get thicker. I used to have e a pineapple plant, but mine never grew a pineapple :( you do know that house plants are addictive don’t you? Ha ha Your headache sounds like a migraine:( hope you are feeling okay now :)

With the exception of a few houseplants, most indoor plants must be by a window and get some direct sunlight, otherwise they die. This is a challenge, especially in older homes, which can often be dark inside....,you may need to get some special light bulbs to supplement the light.

I always thought it was weird that you English doesn’t have house plants. Here in the Netherlands is it normal to have plants in your home. Without it’s so boring. So I looking forward to see your house getting homely. 😊
Try to give them once a week rainwater and count with your little watering can 1,2,3. That’s enough.
