I lived in Dubai 5 years, good job, bought own villa, etc, and moved back to the Uk for family reasons in 2019. UK wasn’t too bad initially. Last few years dire. Really, unless there are strong family ties holding you here, I’d jump on a plane without even packing a suitcase. Even with a good salary in Uk, QOL is by comparison to UAE non-existent. In Dubai my medicine cabinet would be things to enhance your health, full of healthy vitamins, feel good gym supplements, sun protection, etc. In Uk, it’s full of anti depressants, anti craving drinking pills, reduce drinking pills, block drinking oils, sleep pills, basically anything to keep you alive without living life. Land of opportunity vs land of despair!
Im moving there next june! This year has been a step too far. Getting my ducks in a row now, making a few calls in the new year to sort out work etc and then im there 1) rising costs and new random taxes 2) i can no longer invest in property or other investments 3) already taxing pensions and raising the pension age at the end of my life span. 4) called a GP for a minor concern and he said im better off payin private as i wouldnt get infront of a specialist for a year No matter how hard i work, i will die poor here. If you told me 6 months ago i would live in dubai i would not have believed you. But now im excited after doing some research and ready to build a prosperous life and achieveing a better quality of life. Better healthcare, quality of life, safety
Great to hear, it’s sad what the uk has become. It really is, you have to do what’s best for your life and career, and if that’s dubai, then anyone should try it at least! Good luck 🤞
I'm an expat. I've lived in Abu Dhabi for 20 years now and I've had both of my kids here. The UK doesn't feel safe; it's normal to get burgled and robbed there, and you can't save any money because anything you do save is taxed away. Moreover, like he said, kids are taught explicit things, there's lots of swearing, and bullying. Here it's safe, a nice melting pot of people from all over the world, easy to make and save money, and there's beautiful weather for most of the year. Amazing place to be.
Agree, Many places around the world you can Live like a king cheaper than the uk! Just a lot of People either can’t move because of commitments or are scared of the unknown
I currently spend about 5 months in Pakistan and the rest in the Uk due to my business in pk I always end up missing the Uk after a month but I mainly miss my family and fixed roads
I was in London Apr/May time. Walking back to my hotel I saw shops closing around 6:30pm in central London. Nothing indicates a city in decline more than lack of retail in a capital city. All the Uber drivers were complaining. People have to share to rent apartments these days... and this is a someone who used to live there and visits every so often. As for airports... I used to fly out of Heathrow regularly, and would avoid Gatwick. Flying from Birmingham the other day though... it took ages to get through security. They've been renovating for ages. Flying into Dubai is a 180 degree difference. It seems the UK government has it's own agenda, that doesn't exactly align with the agenda of the UK population. I think Rishi's father in law did well with contracts for his wife's company, and as for Kier, he's just doing whatever Israel tells him to do and is on some mad power trip.

I left in the UK for Dubai in 2017 and although there are some things I miss, I really think it was a solid decision!
One of my best decisions made!
I think it’s the weather man! So dark and gloomy and feels like forever. The sun has an energy that none can give !
I know mate, I remember those cold, dark mornings and short bursts of daylight if you’re lucky. Not good for anyone’s mindset!
I haven't seen the sun in weeks. I'm having to turn my lights on at home at 10am.

I've been to Egypt Hurghada recently, made me realise coming back to UK that you can live like a king in Egypt for 30% of the cost of UK

Sounds great!!
Is it true all Emiratis were given a share of the countrys wealth from Oil. So all Emiratis have baseline finances that means they wont struggle?
Dubai has best weather and safest country in the world...property are cheap too less than a million

London is as good as you make it. Same as dubai, either one suits different people

Think again!
Many people retire in dubai, the ones who make

Taxes taxes and more taxes that’s the problem. No vision, no growth plans, no innovation and no money for education and list goes on
Sad but true
