    This video helped me tremendously with my hi hats and now my beats dont sound plain anymore. Ive especially started to use the kick at weird times giving it that Dilla feel. Cant wait to see what stuff i come up with now that ive learned this

    Simply put, use velocity and turn off the quantization. Ultimately, just gotta flow and feel it to make the beat go. I have been living on a 2000xl since 2015 and can attest that's one way to make it happen!

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely man! I think quantising the first kick of the bar is useful as well (can't remember if I mentioned it here) it gives you a bit of freedom to play around but know that the bar will loop nicely

    How do you get the pads to play on time in the sequence

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can either quantise or just play them in time. I think quantise was on when I did this video

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spvidz what is the best quantized method especially with samples? Because i got a mpc 5000

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ with samples I'd say the best way is not to man, just keep recording your sequence until you get it sounding right, quantise won't help with chops as much as it helps with beats

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spvidz do i turn off quantized for samples that are chopped because i am confused like i got the prograns with chops?

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t quantise when I’m recording samples into my sequence - I just use the click as a guide

    What's ur honest opinion of the mpc 2500? Its been a while since I played with one but my initial reaction was it was identical to the 1000. Just bigger. Which I wasn't impressed by sonically . I prefer samplers to add distinct character and all that. I did think the effects were kinda nice sounding and as always with akai, awesome filters. But I got a 2000xl, 3k, and a 60ii, back in the day so I never needed to get a newer machine. After 20 years playing with samplers I've realized with akai the old ones are the cooler sounding, and dont sleep on rack units either. S950 is amazing as far as warming up and boosting anything u put thru it with probably the best filters in any akai samplers. I'm also a big emu sampler fan aswell as ensoniqs... Haha they all are great machines. Now weird cheap things like sp404s with the crappy pads I never understood . Horrible sounding and insanely annoying to operate.

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2500 is ok but i've not had any other MPCs to compare to that are similar. I had the renaissance for a bit but didn't like the fact it had to be linked to a computer permanently so I sold it and got the 2500. I would have gone for a 2000xl but when I was looking to buy here in the UK there wern't any around in good condition. As for the 404 being crappy or horrible...will have to agree to disagree on that one...

      @@spvidz man I apologize. My comment looks like im just doging ur gear, but I'm actually just curious about how u were introduced to the machines u have... here in the u.s., 2000xl were super easy to find. Infact so many people have them that alot of us wont admit we own one
