Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest - The Adventure of Dai is a very different kind of action RPG, and it's a great way to experience the anime and manga's story too! Here's my review!

Looks like a good bit of fun! But agree with you on the anime stills, would have been so much cooler to have them done in engine, as from the few ones you show they are real eye catching!
Great review! I’m actually really keen on checking this out now…all the bad reviews had me worried but anyone I’ve actually talked to about it has said it’s pretty good!
I love your content!
Oooo thank you for this. I have been wondering about this game. Still on the fence unfortunately but maybe I will give it a try at some point. Some things seem up my ally like the battle system but the dungeon area has me hesitating a bit.
I enjoyed your review, and I'm waiting for my copy from Play Asia!
Are there towns and villages in the game?
I hope they cover the whole story since i think they finished the anime. Maybe as future dlc
I know the game was supposed to come out same time as anime they were announced the same day so I think they didn't wana have too many Spoilers but the game kept getting delayed... even after the anime ended the game didn't get released until now
Certainly looks to exceed my expectations in both graphics and gameplay.
While alot of the monster designs are from toriyama originally couldnt hurt the mention the artist for the dai manga koji inada when talking about artstyle.
Man your video was awesome, good job mate 👏
great review. can you turn off the floating damage numbers?
You can’t 🙁
@@BacklogBattle dang. I know its minor, but for some reason I never like to see the numbers constantly appear on screen. I know it's just a game, but its kind of immersion breaking in the sense that im focused on random numbers instead of just the battle itself. Game still looks great though and I'm excited to check it out now after seeing your review. Thanks for the effort!
And my backlog (aka "Pile of Shame") get's longer and longer ... 😉
Do you play many Dragon Quest games? It would be cool to see a video listing a preferred order to play them for someone interested in trying them out and wondering where to start, if you ever need to fill a content gap!
I love Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai and its glorious soundtrack by Yuki Hayashi
Your review is the first positive review I've seen Alex. I appreciate that. Other reviews made it sound like this game was the worst game in history. While I'm a Dragon Quest fan, I have never seen the anime. The first hour I watched of someone's playthrough had me really enjoying the story. Since I can't play action games myself, I can only judge on whether I like the story or not. I find it quite entertaining. Thanks Alex!
KisekiNut's felt a bit too positive?
DavidVinc also loves the game..
I feel like the main issue is that this should have never been $60. The price sets expectations, and I personally would not pay that much for a Rpg with those cheap, lazy cutscenes
Glad to hear the favorable review. I feel like the past few DQ releases that weren’t numbered were really rough
Realy hearing a favorable review from a Square enix sponsored video???
I'm really happy to see you enoyed the game! It looks like a ton of fun, and I adore the early 90s anime vibes.
I am surprised that your review of the game is a bit more tame compared to one TH-camr who also had the game from Square but aside from music and animation, he stopped after a few chaoters as he saw the game to be repetitive and one reviewer who mentioned that the game was just an average action RPG with mediocre production values even on PS5........I don't know what that last guy was watching but while I do agree that using the still shots from the anime is and always will be a dumb idea for games following a show(in my case that would be that Arslan musou game), the in game engine looks beautiful at least. As it is, this game is just all right but I was honestly hoping for more news on Dragon Quest 3 2D HD remake and Dragon Quest 12 rather then ANOTHER spin off game, especially when we close to another one that is a prequel to a Dragon Quest 4 character who is super important. But this was still a good review as usual Alex!
Wonder if DQ12 is going to go the Final Fantasy route and introduce this style of combat to the mainline games 🤔
Looks a lot like the Trials of Mana remake, which I found fun at first but got old after 10 hours or so. I’ve read the Dai manga but this game will probably be a wait for sale situation
I hope they continue the story with dlc
Glad to see reviewers expressing the fact that they are enjoying this game like I am
Souls-like combat in a DQ spinoff, what a time to be alive.
dragon quest heroes is also kinda similar to this
@@Coldysnapdragon
DQ Heroes is a whole another genre, alongside Zelda Calamity and Persona Strikers
@@ahmedfalahy9337 yea i know but they still are kinda similar in the context that it isn't round based and instead you walk around and slash some slimes (they both aren't really dragon quest games)
The combat gives me Ni no Kuni 2 vibes, but ya know... Fun. 😅 Haven't seen either anime adaptations, but I'm gonna add it to the least. I really haven't into anything Toriyama related outside of DB, and the few DQ games I've played.
Looks pretty good.
Man am i glad for an honest review thanks alex 😊😊
wait so it is not a button mashing style game? Because it seems so from the reviews and from the video. If it is not, I might check it out!
Thanks for the review. So far everything I heard has been negative and it's good to hear some positive points about the game.
Awesome review can't wait to play this!!
Not saying I would not enjoy this buttt It looks like a wait for a sale game or PS+ or something especially with my backlog haha.
The delay between commands is actually pretty bad. Makes this game kind of frustrating. Probably get it on sale not worth the 60$ tag. Also this review is way too positive. Glad you had fun tho
Looks like Ni no Kuni 2
No, Ni No Kuni 2 was a good game.
@daniellaurent280 True, but this is a great game 👍
So the concept ,"reliving memories", is the same as one piece odyssey lol
At least its based in an actual plot point from the manga/anime
i was watching the reviews on steam, they are almost all bad ngl
They should made this game a exploration game. When i learned that this is not a exploration game i already this will be a bad game what a disappointment
Idk man this game feels really cheap and lazy, i have for myself, this the 1st review i seen so far and you are giving the game a bit to much credit. The art work/game graphics is by far the best thing about this game. The rest of the game so far is jus making jus wanna want stop playing the game and go watch the anime instead ONLY because everything is a damn slideshow, i mean how cool would have been to actually play as Avin in the beginning instead actually watch the cutscenes or saving your golden slime friend from the fake hero instead of watch a slideshow. I jus feel like there could've been better not this really nice looking lemon of a game
As someone who bought the game i can definitely say it is not as good as this review makes it seem. The story line part is more than 50% stills and cutscenes, might even be over 70%. Its that much time not playing the game. The only continuous play happens in the endless dungeon leveling up the bond memories. Outside of that it is dragon quest heroes 2 with half the action, not much fun, and still the same price. Criminal.
Is it worth 40 bucks? It’s on sale now.
Reviewers have been bashing this way to hard for no reason
I think they have some reasons 😂
Not saying I agree or disagree. Haven't played the game myself. But, all the critical reviews I've seen argued their case pretty well and gave reasons for their dislike.
Ehh I don’t know. It’s pretty rough, man. I was really looking forward to this but I don’t think I’ll be continuing this one
Oh please. It’s lazier than a musou game usually is
I just want another actual dragon quest jrpg game😢
Yeah, some reviewers seem to be reviewing the game based on what they WANTED it to be, rather than writing proper reviews based on what the game actually is.
