  • Livewire engineers did a really cool flat track take on the full electric motorbike. After 900 miles I think I've deconstructed some design insights. Pro's and Con's

Yea I really think from day one, they made a mistake with those tires. You should go to a shop and see the weight difference between rim+tire on 17 and these. It's huge!

Don’t get me wrong, I think the 19 inch wheels/tires look hella good.. but they do make it more tricky to ride.

@@MCCJustMotos yep. I know. I build these EVs for a living. 19 inch is the wrong way to go. Should be 17 inch and you gain 10% less weight, 10% more efficiency in range and way more manoeuvre

Does the Del Mar come with a charger for L1 that can be stored under the seat like the LiveWire One?

    • @MCCJustMotos
      @MCCJustMotos  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Nope, that adds weight. It comes with a home charger kit, and can use any standard level 2 charger.

Needs some 50/50 tires on it and take it off road!!

Ha! That would be rad! But as it is, it has flat track tires where you can actually race flat track on them.

    That ride is gorgeous Andy.
My concern if you run out of wattage and your miles from the charger...What do you do?
You can bring petrol to a " old style motorcycle ".
They have those Zero's out here but I have little desire after watching you 🚀 rocket up the road in previous videos. I watched the speedo and my eyes couldn't keep up as the numbers grew.
I tryed a edrum kit and sold it for the " Old" accoustic drums. Some of us just cannot adapt to new products. Graduated in 79.
We didn't have computers in ALL the rooms then so most of us oldsters are set in our ways.
Love the leaves look. Actually miss them. Ride Safe if your still out there. It's getting a little chilly.
Did you see the RE 650 shotgun? I thought I heard him say only 25 .
Waiting for reviews on the RE Him-E electric.

Thanks for all..you just have to plan your rides in big detail to make sure you have a charger(s) on your route..so it’s a different way to ride. There are phone apps to help you plan, not as difficult as you might think, but THIS EV is not a super long distance tourer. I love older bikes too, I’ve had many.
I’m NOT a huge fan of the limited edition shotgun 650’s. They lost something big from the show vehicle. Maybe the production models will look a bit better?

I have had all the Harley line ups over the years. Also just sold back my paul yaffee chopper back to paul after 20 years.I now have a livewire one and love it.i am never worried about charging. I may only ride 80 to 90 miles each time. Also keep in mind that Tesla (which i have had 2 and currently a plaid moddel x)will be opening up there super chargers to the livewire soon. As most do not know. I can easily travel the ENTIRE usa and even in to canada with no problem.Yes you wait longer but you will make it.This bike is by far the best i have ever owned and rode. keep in mind i have had the whole lineup of bikes. You need to try one.We cant stay the same we need to grow and move forward. If that is the case then all leaps and bounds in medical lets keep it where its at??Is that a good idea

Great thoughts. I’ve ridden the lw1 a few times and really liked it. it definitely has more range than the Delmar but again they’re different bikes, both amazing!

I have a HD LiveWire and it has a 120V charge cable under the seat. The thing about riding electric is every building you pass will have electricity so unless you are riding in the mountains near nothing you will not be stuck. You may get delayed for a bit if you have to pull into a store/restaurant/church or whatever and plug in but you won't be stuck. The LiveWire One on regular household plug gains 13 miles (20 kms) an hour so yeah you may get delayed but you won't be stuck.

@@elbowsout6301understand, the LW1 is a better long distance tourer, with a bit more flexibility. You could bring the level one charger kit in the backpack or luggage with you but it’s stored under the seat on the live wire one and it has a longer range. The benefit for the Delmar is that it uses level two charging, which is much more common and the Lw1 can only charge at a level 1 capicity on those chargers.
