Aaaah, makes me miss my mitred conure, Paco. He was such a prolific talker too! They are definitely Jeckyl & Hyde birds. Paco use to bite people and then laugh. One of Paco's favorite sayings was "Effin cats!" (The real word of course.) My children would teach him and the other birds to have potty mouth whenever mom was not home. Mitreds are such great birds! So much fun to have around. I miss hearing him say, "Moooooom, mom c'mere, let me out!"
I have a 17 year-old Mitred named Spike that my wife and I adopted when he was about 10. Spike and I love to watch Pudgy and I think that he may be trying to imitate what Pudgy is doing. You have a wonderful bird and I hope that you have many, many years of love and entertainment from Pudgy!
Aaah, it makes me miss my mitred conure named Paco. I had him for a little over 16 years. That's one thing about mitreds, you get nailed out of the blue....for NO reason! I use to joke that Paco needed Prozac! LOL!
He is so funny! Lol! Avis will sit on my shoulder and interact with me like that. I've only had him for about 5 months so we're just getting acquainted. Lol! What a character!
Looking at Pudgy makes me really miss my mitred. Sophie who was 18 1/2 years old passed away Dec. 24, 09. When Sophie used to bite me occasionally, she would say Sophie's a good girl after. Hard to find the breed. I'm in New Jersey. Pudgy Wudgy is precious. Love to watch her.
Brings back a lot of memories of the mitred conure I took care of for a while. Really fun little guy, but that beak was definitely something to watch out for -- a nibble turned into a bite on the simplest whim, it seemed! He laughed about it, too. XD
I love this video. I have a female Mitred Conure like a Pudgy. He speaks lots clearer. My girl is 17 now. She loves to watch this video. I want to see more birds. Are there more? 🦜
My cherry head conure pinches some time but he responds to my tone of voice and then gets super gentle. Flapper my conure is also a clown sometimes but their headstrong and stubborn at times. He is open banded 34 years ago this spring I got him at a feed store not finger tame in California when it was still legal to import and quarantine birds for the pet trade. He was likely a fledgling that hasn’t yet started flying, but he’d imprinted on his bird parents. Took me 6 months to hand take him. Today he’s a treasure; finger tame potty trained and loves to sing and cuddle. He tries to preen me it’s so cute. I think they just aren’t sure at first how to preen a human. They need feedback to let them know it’s not ok if they pinch. If this bird was 2 at the time, they do get pretty mouthy when their young. They’re a very gregarious bird naturally in the wild. Are you sure your bird is a Mitred ? Looks like my cherry head size snd color marking wise 🤷🏼♀️
Pudgy says "thank you." I have had him since he was 4 months old and he's been talking since he was about 5 months old. He's 3 1/2 now and one of the the joys of my life. He was found in the attic of an abandoned house with his clutch mate when he was about 3 weeks old and rescued by a woman who brought him ro a local bird store. He's a very special little guy! VERY LOVED and very lucky!
He's feisty and lovable, with a great sense of humor. Smart enough to tell fibs and try to fool you. He thinks he's getting over on you and laughs when you call him out on it. He loves to tease my Macaw about pooping in his cage. The exchange is priceless. Excellent talker with full comprehension Mitered Conures, like Blue Crown Conures, can be bitey. He gets over-exuberant, and it can result in a bitey instead of a kissy.
They're the best! He spoke wekk since he was 4 months old! So smart and such a great sense of humor. I'm gonna get him an agent an let him do stand up! LOL
I am so sorry for your lost. I lost my beloved 41 year old yellow nape Amazon in Feb so I share your pain. Your Mitred lived a long life for a conure. I have read they are 25-30 years. Mine is 31, so I hope he will be around for a while longer. He is bonded to my Goffins cockatoo who is about the same age.
My cherry head pinch’s me sometimes When he’s trying to preen me. He was open banded 1988 import and was not hand tame when I got him. Given his history I’m gonna guess he was taken from the nest before he could fledge and sold to the pet trade. He’s 32 now and his sweetie, 27 y/o domestic bred severe macaw dies 3 years ago. Since then he allows me to pet him on his head and under his neck. After 32 years it’s quite an honor! Flapper lives with 2 other parrots 22 y/o Congo African grey Ozzie and pure breed Brazilian B&G macaw Rio.

I had to keep watching he is hilarious !
I love your bird! Do you still have your Mitred conure? Was he a handed baby? Does he painfully bite you a lot? What is the mitred conure temperature?

We talk every day. It's amazing how he learned to form questions. I didn't teach him that.
My mitred passed away last week at about 35 yrs old. This video made me smile.

This is amazing! I love Pudgy already! Wow! How often or how much time do you spend teaching him words? I've never seen a Conure talk as much as him.
