I think they initially wanted him to sing all of it but Oliveri kind of blew the surprise by announcing he'd be doing this months before the show. So I think they still sort of wanted an element of surprise worked in there by starting off without him and then have him come in by the end of the song.
If Josh ,Nick and Mark could all get together again QOTSA would be my favourite band again. Seeing Nick and Josh back together again makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
yeah and you could really hear them too,i think i could just about hear Nick on a backing vocal and i don't even remember Mark being on it at all but then it's my least favourite QOTSA album by miles and i never listen to it.
***** Mark wrote some of Fairweather Friends. With that being said, I don't think you actually gave Like Clockwork a fair shake. I've been a fan for about 10 years now (which, I know. Is nothing compared to others) but you know. My first exposure to the band was Songs for the Deaf and all that before Lullabies and what came after. And I absolutely love Like Clockwork.
Paul inglesfield "lost their identity" or created a new one? There's more than one way to look at things. My two favorite QotSA albums are Lullabies and Like Clockwork. Then there's Songs for the Deaf, Rated R, Self Titled, with Era Vulgaris at the bottom. They're all fucking great albums when you listen without any expectations of them sounding like "classic Queens" (Which, there is no Classic Queens sound. All of their first three albums are different from another, as is the three that followed.)
I think they were remembering being higher than a jet plane with each other during that moment. Hell, I was flashing back to my old friends doing the same
As someone who has experienced DT’s I wouldn’t call that a good thing but yeah seeing death in a top hat with a crow on his shoulder is pretty cool in retrospect.
To everyone who is saying that "josh doesnt look happy that nicks performing with them" you are so completely wrong. Josh and Nick have been best friends since they were kids. Even after Nick got fired there was some bad blood but they still remained good friends. Also if Josh didnt want Nick there he wouldve never let him play because its joshs band and josh never wouldve let nick contribute to Like Clockwork. Its just a bunch of classic people who are totally mislead and make very uninformed comments
Warren Nelsom as much as I will agree with you Joey NEVER played the beat to quick and to the pointless as it was meant to be played he kinda powered through it which is a shame because the beat behind that song is one of the reasons the music sounds so dirty :) other than that I do quite agree with you!
the problem with joey is he would play things too fast. i saw them twice with joey and both times he was playing like a speed fucking demon. which is cool, but kind of kills the songs with a groove.
Watching what Queens have built the last 20 years is humbling. Kinda like Mastodon. Bands that were not around for my childhood/teenage years. But they feel like they were. They have built such an amazing body of work.
I would really love to hear Oliveri and Lannegan on the next QOTSA album, but like writing and doing lead vocals, writing their own stuff, Songs For The Deaf style. It would be really interesting to hear them in a "Like Clockwork" sound.
This needed to happen at some point and, as it turns out, it had a very decent and respectful outcome but I wouldn't say that Oliveri and Lanegan should go back with Queens and it would all be like the old times cause it wouldn't be the same; you can't turn time backwards. Awesome performance, nonetheless.
0:00 Millionaire (no Nick here) 2:29 Millionaire (Nick sings) 3:00 Quick and to the Pointless 4:56 Auto Pilot 9:05 Another Love Song 12:08 Gonna Leave You no clue if the timestamps will work or not, first time doing this so.
Just a memo for me Autopilot 4:48. Thank you si much for this captation of the most beautiful version of this song in my opinion. I listen to it regularly since it was posted.
Well I mean... he already did Millionaire in Portland. My guess is it was done to fake out the crowd because Nick let the cat out of the bag about the performance a good 2 months ago
Adan Hernandez Nick talked about it before the show was even announced. And him performing with the band was never talked about besides the few times he talked about it.
I love all of QOTSA's stuff.are fn brilliant to see live, but man I miss Nick. Don;t get me wrong the newer stuff is absolutely great but you gotta love some Nick too. Oh well it was great to see him up with them again.
Well to be fair... if you remember that Nick Oliveri beat up his girlfriend and that was the main reason for him being chucked out.. you might dislike this video because you're against that kind of abuse maybe? Musically there's no reason to dislike it though.
i dont think nick fits into the current vision of qotsa, maybe the past 2 albums would have been better with him but qotsa has kind of reinvented themselves into a more smooth kind of rock band which i dont think nicks playing style would fit. im not dissing nick or anything though, id love to see josh do a side project with him.
Clockwork was a huge step in the right direction in my opinion, but Nick's energy and the raw and volatile quality it adds to the band is exactly what they're missing. Queens is too "safe" now. They're only a couple years from turning into a straight up Dad Rock band on this trajectory. Josh needs to avoid being the next Dave Grohl. Dave's an awesome drummer and undoubtedly has done some amazing things over the years, but the Foo Fighters have become a homogenized, boring, color by numbers rock band. He's above that shit. I find it depressing that the guy who played drums on In Utero and Songs for the Deaf, and wrote and recorded the FF self titled album by himself is the same guy I saw on that Sonic Highways documentary. I want to like what he's doing SOOOOOO bad, but over the last 8 years or so I keep getting more and more embarrassed for him.
+Justin Vavala I think Josh will never follow the generic-rock path, he just kinda have a very different approach to everything he does musically, hopefully he'll keep reinventing qotsa's sound on their next records.
Just look at they way Josh looks at Nick during the last guitar part for Autopilot. There's your proof that they still have mad love for each other. I got chills.
Give this to me 10 times a day, and 20 on weekends. Queens touring Rated R was one of the best shows I've ever seen, touring Lullabies the other. Goosebumps when Nick walks out, at the time I thought he might be coming back. I hope it happens one day, I'll go wherever I have to to see that again.
Vibe got so electric when he pulled up, the camera couldn’t even handle it. Just not the same without him. I feel for the guys that fill those shoes. Miss Gene and Alfredo too. Ghost of what it used to be.
Nick always felt like a dose of danger-concentrate in the albums he was on. I love the stuff QOTSA are doing now, but it does feel a little comfortable at times. Still awesome stuff, but I kinda miss the volatile feeling of the old days. (Cut to montage of slow motion footage of Nick while "Good Riddance" plays even though nobody needs to ever hear it again. Scene ends with Nick silently mouthing the word "jump" straight into the camera, and then we freeze frame/fade out)
I’m glad too see Nick jamming with them. This is the 1st time I’ve seen this. I miss oh crap hold on I’ll think of his name. Mark Lanagan. sp?? Anyway he jammed with them also.
Whilst it is awesome to see a reunion like this, I have to disagree with people saying that he should be in the band full time or Lanegan should be back writing with them.. Absolute crime that he didn't sing millionaire
Yeah WTF! I clicked the video assuming that's what would happen.
He did in Portland earlier on this tour
I mean he sang the final two lines...
I think they initially wanted him to sing all of it but Oliveri kind of blew the surprise by announcing he'd be doing this months before the show. So I think they still sort of wanted an element of surprise worked in there by starting off without him and then have him come in by the end of the song.
@@DaveBits Yeah it sucks that he beat the shit out of his female partner regularly....oh and that he didn't sing millionaire
josh is definitely the soul of queens but nick was the turbo boost
Well put!
perfect!
Nick was the cocaine
I'd argue that Nick is/was the soul of QOTSA, and they've been wandering around in purgatory since they fired him
Sad to say you're right
Josh has the best back up harmonies. I miss the days of queens having more than ONE singer.
It's weird because Mikey and Dean are both pretty good singers. I don't get why they aren't used more often
Songs for the deaf harmonies were amazing. One of the reasons why I love this album so much.
CCDaDon15 Troy can sing rather well too...
Victor Castillo Yup. He's actually gotten a few lead lines here and there. Battery Acid, and a few lines in Kalopsia
CCDaDon15 like which ones?
I like how Nick just walks on stage like "hey guise whatchadoin?" he is THE drunk uncle of the QotSA Family
Da Roo drunk and meth-d out, yeah.
Man as much as I love Josh's vocals, him singing Millionaire has nothing on Nick
Not even close
Josh has even said as much
Josh can't scream
i actually prefer josh but like both
I wish they’d let Mikey do it since he can scream unlike Josh
The camera was so shocked at Oliveri's appearance that it was losing consciousness and going out of focus.
@James Schultz *Est.1982 Lucky bastard 😁
Nick oliveri will always be one of the original Queens of QOTSA, the band was at its peak when him and mark Lanegan were in the band
I agree, his vocals were the perfect contrast to Josh’s
Josh, Nick, Mark and Dave --- WHAT a band. Who saw, saw....
Queens will always sound best with Nick in the band, especially live.
If Josh ,Nick and Mark could all get together again QOTSA would be my favourite band again.
Seeing Nick and Josh back together again makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

fair comment.
saying that, where is my original comment? ha
11:55 Even if Nick is never actually back in the band, that’s an awesome moment. Just knowing they’re both friends again is enough for me
If you want something extra, they were friends again pretty soon after Olivieri’s firing.
God damn. Autopilot felt like a dose of heroin. Just melted in myself. Fucking awesome.
Mmm I know right? That song is soo fucking chill
from about 7:57 onwards you can just see the fucking connection in Josh's eyes. Those two man, those two.
So good I went back and played it twice before watching the rest.
I think they were remembering being higher than a jet plane with each other during that moment. Hell, I was flashing back to my old friends doing the same
Nick is a tall dude. Josh must be Godzilla tall.
he's 6'5
Nick is around 185 cm (6'1")
Josh is massive. Saw him in the crowd once at a Distillers show. A head above the rest, literally
i would like your comment but it's perfectly balanced right at the moment, (69)
so this will simply have to serve as my like
They should have played “Tension Head” too. This is really cool though.
wow he slays those songs...great job Nick...not so easy to step in and do vocals that insane some 12 years later...kick ass.
I got chills when he came on stage
The best version of Another Love Song I've ever heard them do live.
Feels so good to hear Nick with Qotsa again. He was the delirium tremens of the band!
As someone who has experienced DT’s I wouldn’t call that a good thing but yeah seeing death in a top hat with a crow on his shoulder is pretty cool in retrospect.

Some people are terrible people readers and some people are liars, what can you do? I see love in Josh's eyes
I love how content josh looks at 8:10. Reminiscing on the old days
09:40 man i love their latest drummer.
old drummer for the mars volta, hes a badass, played a sick drum solo on burn the witch when i saw them live
Nah dude, joey's the man

i agree, joey plays too quickly and it makes everything out of time while raping the tempo
I got goosebumps watching nick and josh during auto pilot, that was incredible.
getting goosebumps now
epic shit. man. crowd must be one of the luckyst ever !!
This is the most amazing show I've ever seen on youtube
He's been screaming his ass off for years by this point, and he still hasn't lost his voice even a bit. Incredible.
The REAL Queens Of The Stone Age.
Stay, Nick. Forever.
Vamo Mengão !

It would be really interesting to hear them in a "Like Clockwork" sound.
And Dave Grohl
Thats actually what Nick said he wanted to do when he did his small part in clockwork since Mark and Dave where, but josh declined the idea..

I admire Josh. For letting his old mate have his moment. A QOTSA gig suddenly became the Nick Oliveri show.

I love Nick, but I actually really like Millionaire with Josh's vocals too
thank you for posting this man, queens rule, but they ruled more when nick was around
Except for millionaire, this is the last time you'll hear these songs performed live by QOTSA.
Sad but true.
my favorite QOTSA was with Nick Olvieri and Alain with Natasha (RIP) from the band Eleven.
Another love song just Fucking rocks
Miss him in the band, love the contrast his voice gave.
Nick and Josh singing together sounds so wonderfull. The true QOTSA. I hope he rejoin at some point.
Go nick! It was the Best highlight of that whole night! Never forget!
🤘🔥☝️
OMG, thank you so much for sharing this.
such a shame they didn't play Tension Head or Ode To Clarissa
Yeah.
Nick played tension head before the kills at this show
TENSION HEAD!
Ode to Clarissa is the best.
well nicks been busy with other bands hes in, from what ive read, and hes just a fucking amazing animal
If only Nick and Joey can back on QotsA
iCreats joey sucked
Gene's the better drummer for Q.
Linus Wärn As is Alfredo and Dave. Theodore is brfter than Joey but can't hold a candle to the first 3 drummers QOTSA had the luxury of having.
@@Irregular_JohnI like Joey the best, then Gene.

I disagree. I love every album of queens, and Like Clockwork is a masterpiece in my eyes. Guess it's just down to personal taste
